The Lesser Demon in the Library is special. Lesser Demons do show up as regular enemies later, but only the one in the Library can summon Mudmen. And that Library Lesser Demon summoning Mudmen is the only way to encounter Mudmen, for those looking to fill out the bestiary

Yeah, this games plays loose with monster ID. I remember trying hard to get a special (strength?) ring, only dropping from one monster. Welp, turns out it does NOT drop from that monster's 1st placement, only the much later 2nd. They are not really the same monster.

I finished this game upwards of 25 times and I didn't knew at least half of the glitches you used for this single run, lmao PS: Also, this has to be the best speedrun video-essay I've seen. Just the highlights, and explanation of how and why for each glitch (and holy fuck, there's a lot of them) AND top it off with great humor. "Ah, Alucard, we meet again. Goddamn it, he left again". Absolute gold.
That's not the correct sprite of Minotaur used in the section "this looks like cheating". Mr. Strimmer is cheating. "This massive discovery changed all that" ...wait for it.. wait for it... Skipping-skippity-skip-skips.

Had watched SotN runs for like 15 years, yet while got the grasp of what was happening due to old sites like Game FAQ, didn't really understood what was happening... Till today Heck, didn't even knew about powerslide... Overall superb video
Never played this game, but I've seen a lot of speed runs for it, there's so many tricks in this game. How hard is the game if you play it normally? Kind of want to play through it, but not looking for torture if it's really hard lol
Small correction if I may. Subtracting 0 - 1 and ending up with a big number is just a negative overflow, it's still an overflow. An underflow is when you get a super small decimal number (e.g. 0.00...1) that it cannot store the digits due to technical limitations so it just rounds down to 0.

The fact that there just happens to be a glitch that skips every boss, but it's not just the same glitch over and over is actually wild.
And you still get.to beat the bosses as if you are visiting their room for the first time!
Alucard wasn't actually granted immortality by being half-vampire, it's just that everytime Death comes to claim him, Alucard rudely leaves.
