- The Prestige often gets overshadowed by the many titans that fill out Christopher Nolan's catalog, yet I find the film's ability to subvert expectations truly remarkable in its own right. Join me in this video as I dissect what I believe to be the 3 requirements of a great twist, and how The Prestige meets all of them!

I find Fight Club's twist very similar to the Prestige - both can be rewatched in a different way!
i like how there were so many hints along the way
Your DDLC video has been one of my favorite video essays for a while so I just decided to check out your other content. Seeing that your latest video covers a movie by my favourite director was a delightful surprise! I personally only saw this film for the first time last year and was utterly shocked at the ending which I did not see coming at all (but who does on the first watch?). You mention the difference in the twin's dialogue which I never thought to look back on with a 2nd watch and this fact has made me add this to my movie rewatch list. Thank you for this super cool video and I also love this style of editing! The intercut scenes mixed with the use of greenscreen (which I shall add looks seamless at many points) really make this video so engaging and really enjoyable to watch! Keep up the amazing vids! Much love!
You are seriously the nicest person ever! Thanks so much for taking the time out of your day to not only watch my content but leave such a sweet and encouraging comment. I'm so thrilled you like what I do, means the world. Hope you have an amazing day, you deserve it!
@@xanderscut Omg you are so lovely! I didn't expect you to reply, let alone with such lovely words! I genuinely enjoy your content very much and I hope you have the best day also! I don't know if you take game recommendations (so sorry if this comes off rude or pushy in any way) but I have recently watched some videos of a game called Needy Streamer Overload. With a similar art style to DDLC and a crazy concept, it could be something for you to check out! (for leisure or for video purposes!).I will be eagerly awaiting your next video (which I am sure will be sublime!)
Woooo! Another GPS banger!
So cool to see you expand to games and movies!!!
Love hearing your analysis and edits!
People forget Christopher Nolan was a English lit major. It shows up in the depth of his stories. Great insight. Keep up the good work! 🙌💖
Love the editing🔥🔥🔥
peak just dropped
The reason this movie is the best plot twist ever is because both Borden and Angiers have plot twists of their own to reveal to one another (and the audience) at the end
I watched this in a literature & film class. I had the twist spoiled for me a year prior by a classmate (with my permission, since I never expected to watch it and she'd complained it was dumb).
It was a good movie, but definitely more fun for me to watch, knowing the twist ahead of time. I wasn't all that interested in the setting or plot (the moment we saw that the bird died, I lost all investment in the world). The characters' stories, the slow relationship stuff, and magician rivalry just wasn't for me.
Maybe part of my ambivalence was due to having the ending spoiled.. or maybe the drab color palette didn't keep my tiny brain stimulated enough.
Wish I could respect the film as much as you do. Glad you liked it!
If we talk about plot twists, we must talk about Oldboy (Park Chan-wook), if you haven't seen that movie, I recommend it to you, I would even ask you to make a video talking about it.
i love this guy so much, hes so funny (i sound like a NPC💀, but im fr)
