Finding out all the fight statistics/records later only amplify the legendary status of that performance. Also let’s not forget that (yes he wasn’t in the top-5, but Kattar is not a easy fight especially to win standing).
He still ate 100+, couldnt finish, not even knock down Kattar. I get why they put the rest over that maybe Cody vs Cruz is a bit too high, since Cruz won 2 rounds
Colby Covington vs Robbie Lawler was a masterpiece... Edit: For those who don't know Covington landed 201 strikes and 10 takedowns against Lawler who in his over 20 fight career had never been taken down more than 5 times. He dominated every minute of the fight and on the judges scorecards won 50-44, 50-45, 50-45
Most of Colby's fights are a masterpiece. I still think he has all the skills to become UFC champion. His fight with Usman will go down in the top five WW championship fights. A big problem with Colby's resume is he beats these guys at the wrong times. Maia was coming off a loss and getting old anyways. RDA had some wins piled up, but was taking on the roll of gatekeeper at that time. Lawler was on a losing streak and so was Woodley. I guess one could argue he fought them at the right times for securing victories, but i still think they'd have meant more had they fought sooner.

Knowing he wasn't 100% in that fight due to all of the anxiety takes some of the pain out, so him getting styled on by Anderson Silva in such fashion puts a bit of a question mark on his performance. Silva would probably still beat Forrest handily if he was 100% but maybe not in such humiliating fashion. Silva was just on a different level in his prime and if it weren't for Lyoto Machida (who was friends with) and Jon Jones (who was on his level) would likely have been the two division Champion before Conor McGregor.

I did a breakdown a while back on Adesanya v Costa where I watched the fight back twice in half speed, and came to the conclusion that Costa actually landed 0 punches in the entire fight. I'm not sure where the 12 came from, because he only landed 9 kicks. There was 1 phantom connection of a punch that wasn't even audible, but you can see that it landed on Izzy's forearm because it moved about an inch. If you are looking for pure dominance, I personally feel like that fight deserves #2 on this list, as nothing beats Silva v Griffin. I knew that fight was #1 the moment I clicked on the video.
Had Błachowicz vs Reyes gone on longer, I think it could fit up here. He did anything he wanted to Dom. Pushed him around the cage, rifled kicks to his ribs, slipped and connected with punches. Really good stuff!
Dominick Reyes looked terrible against Jan Blachowicz, he had nothing for Polish Power and ironically got devastated. A far cry from his otherwise excellent performance against LHW GOAT Jon Jones. Switching camps and feeling entitled after you believe you got cheated not unjustifiably out of the belt must have been big reasons for Reyes' downfall. That and Jan was overlooked and just that good.
@@georgewright3949 Jan has absolutely nasty body kicks. If he can land a couple of those on Izzy (which is easier said than done) victory is within grasp.
How is TJ Dillashaw vs Renan Barao not on this list and Adesanya vs Costa made it in? Don't get me wrong the Costa fight was domination but It only last 2 rounds. The clinic TJ put on against Barao (when he was on a 32 fight winning streak) still awes me when I watch it. TJ was also a late replacement for the fight and no one thought he was gonna win, then he turns around and puts on a master class against whom was considered the GOAT bantamweight at the time. Also Usman vs Woodley could have also taken this spot. Great content as usual guys, keep up the hard work!
@@rogbot dude that's not fair, Kattar showed a chin of the gods. There were mutliple times Holloway had him rocked and it looked like the ref would step in but then Kattar would somehow get a second wind. There were at least 2 or 3 times that fight should have ended.
@chris tesla Conor fought Diaz TWO weight classes up and didn’t even fight him at 170. He literally did not even weigh that much. Diaz is actually known as someone with a good chin, both before the Conor bouts and after. Conor also dropped Nate several times which was incredibly impressive. Kattar has never been known as someone with a good chin, this narrative just suspiciously popped up after Max embarrassed himself by proving his inability to finish opponents that have a decent chin whatsoever. Max literally won a UD against Kattar. You can say “ohh welll uhh he did really good and uhh he busted up his face!!” Or whatever but it literally does not matter. He won a decision. And when people look at sherdog in 5-7 years and see that Max Holloway could not finish people, they’ll take note of it. Max Holloway has some very unfortunately unintelligent fans that surround him. Just like his historic inability to finish opponents, his two fights against Volk will be seen as precisely what they were; losses. Max lost twice to Volk and people are so distraught that they throw temper tantrums whenever either man is brought up anywhere on social media. These overt attempts at changing the narrative will lose their power over time, and the end of Holloway’s career could very well be viewed as the day he first stepped foot in the octagon with Volk, the superior featherweight. Losing twice to an opponent like that is exactly what happened to DC against Jon, btw, and you don’t see many people clamoring for that trilogy fight, nor giving DC any chance of winning, do you. In time, you will realize that Max Holloway is in the same situation.
I was sitting here watching this thinking this would be number one... only for it to not be on the list... glad I’m not the only one considering that fight.
That kickboxing is no joke those leg kicks hurt very very much especially against the knee bone that look on Costas to face is when he realized he's going to get knocked out.

Dillashaw vs Barao 1. I know, it doesn't seem as impressive now that we know Dillashaw was probably on EPO, but that was the best performance I've ever witnessed as it happened. Also, Jones vs Sonnen was brutally one-sided.
Dillashaw vs Barao 1 is near the top for me. I remember going into that fight thinking they were throwing Dillashaw to the wolves. If i remember correctly, he wasn't even the fighter initially scheduled for Barao and filled in on a short-ish notice. Barao was on like a 30 fight win streak and got straight steamrolled.
Reyes looked like a bear had stood on his ribs then jan picked him apart on his feet . That event was pretty awesome
@@georgewright3949 Jan has absolutely nasty body kicks. If he can land a couple of those on Izzy (which is easier said than done) victory is within grasp.
Great editing. It's like you guys somehow manage to include the strikes without actually showing video clips of it for copyright reasons. Good job.
Reading that title made me imagine Bruce Buffer shouting "FINISH HIM!" at the end of Holloway vs Kattar, then Max just uppercuts him into oblivion
bruce say that?
@@juanmatemos5695 "imagine"
haven’ t seen the video, expecting conor v eddie to be top 5.
i was right
@chris tesla no finish so it’s nowhere near as impressive
@@rogbot dude that's not fair, Kattar showed a chin of the gods. There were mutliple times Holloway had him rocked and it looked like the ref would step in but then Kattar would somehow get a second wind. There were at least 2 or 3 times that fight should have ended.
@@DiggyDougSauce94 no, holloway just doesn’t hit hard enough. if he did, he would have knocked kattar out
@chris tesla Conor fought Diaz TWO weight classes up and didn’t even fight him at 170.
BJ Penn vs Diego Sanchez comes to mind. Diego got outlanded 149-8 and tried to take bj down 27 times, and didn’t get a single one.
Agreed
Plus that gnarly cut by headkick
I was sitting here watching this thinking this would be number one... only for it to not be on the list... glad I’m not the only one considering that fight.
Was there live in Memphis. Legitimately felt like watching a bully beat the shit out of a defenseless kid
I love you guys. Videos like this really suffer from not being able to use actual footage of the fights, it's unfortunate.
That kickboxing is no joke those leg kicks hurt very very much especially against the knee bone that look on Costas to face is when he realized he's going to get knocked out.
Where’s khabib vs Edson ?
That is not fair Khabib had like 28 flawless performances
that max holloway fight was💯🔥🔥🔥🔥
Great list! GSP and Khabib has some pretty dominant ones too.
Conor vs Eddie and Holly vs Ronda are probably my all time favourites.
Usually I just listen to these videos in the background as I do something else, but I actually watched this one and I was blown away by the editing in just the introduction of the video! This is impressive. That along with the charming personality of TTH and my night has been made!
It was fucking beautiful.
Agreed. Dillashaw gave the most spectacular performance as a challenger in a title fight.
Yup. Can't stand TJ now, but cannot deny that performance.
Seems like dillashaw was dirty while he was just turning clean before usada because he had a smarter way to cheat
Where's TJ's masterful performance against Barao.
What he did to him in that fight was a complete and total domination, not a single chance for Barao.
@Marcus Middleton , yeah. But the first one was more unexpected than the second one, due to Barao's 32 fights' unbeaten streak
oh lol, there's still people giving a shit about that cheater?
@@danii7584, you apparently do not. Then why are you here at first place
@@danii7584 it was an even playing field on that fight. Barao was absolutely juiced up to the gills back then.
Any khabib fight could've been on here lol
Agreed
Why, he gets hit, clearly not perfect just dominant.
@@kaisermccheese6486 you're either trolling or just unintelligent. None of the fighters on the list fought without getting hit
@@heat24 I mean in a lot of his performances he gets outclassed on the feet before taking it to the ground, clearly not flawless. No reason to call each other names too.
@@kaisermccheese6486 who was he outclassed on the feet by? He knocked down one of the best strikers in ufc history and was never in trouble on the feet in any of his fights
Mcgregor vs Alvarez better be #1
(Haven’t watched yet)
Context: I am not a Connor fan boy but that was single handedly the most dominant performance in the octagon that I’ve ever seen.
They definitely got it right for the Silva entry tbh. Basically what Conor did but in less time. A more condensed version if you will.
@@Stryker1297 well, Silva vs Griffin wasn't a title fight. and McGregor vs Alvarez was a title fight and pressure was on McGregor because he's there to make a history or get embarrassed. and also, Barao vs Dillashaw 1 must be on the list as well because nobody has ever done that to Renan Barao in his hey day and Dillashaw spanked him badly.
Stipe's thorough domination of Francis was impressive in its own right
What about Francis' annihilation of Stipe in the revenge bout?
@@siliziwencanywa1138 Impressive
@@siliziwencanywa1138 Both can be in the list
It wasn’t that thorough.
@@SageSea1 the first fight was so dominant it was almost embarrassing to watch
Nunes vs Meisha Tate was a one-sided bloodbath as well.
Theirs like 3 or 4 fight of Nunes that could make this list.
Miesha
@@derriksmith7391 which is insane how some think she not the greatest woman fighter and dat Ronda isn't a legend or one of the best female fighters to ever do it

That’s actually a salient point for MMA jurisprudence. Do you mind if I include your statement in my thesis?

I'm hoping we see the Cody we saw against Cruz at least one more time

Bones vs Shogun was an absolutely killer beatdown.
I remember watching that fight and just feeling sorry for shogun. I mean, Jesus christ, he beat the fuck out of him so bad that shogun just laid down and tapped.

Should have been ranked higher, for sure.
Tj vs renan, cain vs jds 2/3, Amanda vs rousey, and figgy vs benavidez 2 shoulda all been on here over some of the other ones imo
I completely agree
It's truly mind-boggling. I glance at the thumbnail and read the title, yet I'm uncertain if they're referring to the Ortega, Kattar, or Gaethje fight. This guy is a legend.
The finishing combo edit was awesome

I miss active Cody, I always felt the no chin nickname is unfortunate considering some of the shots he ate in those 3 losses. It was more of throwing without thinking, that's just my opinion anyway
His actual nickname is "Heartless" or something.
@@Pozuda his nickname is no love
He trained well for a while and somewhere his training went awry. It's a BIG difference when that happens. It does not take away from his potential. If only he wasn't stubborn and would change it up a bit. Work on head movement once again, and foot work.
Cody is what happens when your whole entire run to the top is you training for one specific guy. The created a Cruz killer. But then what happens after you finally beat Cruz? We're watching that now.
I lost it when DFW’s head popped into the shot from the corner. Good work!
