When you released the first 2 songs of the EP last year, I didn't think it could get any better, but the 2 new songs raised everything to such a great level that I can't even assign a numerical value to how amazing this EP is now. I mean, sure, I could say 11/10 to reference Spinal Tap and such, but seriously, not even 20/10 can accurately represent how blown away I am by the EP. I love it even more knowing how you reference and even quote Vivaldi's The Four Seasons. I really hope that you and Synestia get a LOT more attention with these releases. This full EP and Time II are sure to be my absolute most favorite releases of the year! I'm already streaming this EP, but I'm wondering what is the most direct way I can support the bands. I'm already looking forward to your (and Synestia"s) next release. You guys are doing some of the best things in metal right now!
Listen dudes Ive been refreshing like a MOTHERFUCKER trying to listen to these last two tracks, after the absolute masterpieces you guys dropped last year. For me to miss these releases by a full 4 days, I was BEYOND CHEESED. But your music made it all back up. I am not joking when I say that you are pushing the farthest boundaries of metal. No scratch that, you guys are breaking through into something beyond metal, something greater altogether. Seriously, for an EP to have music of this quality, each track a perfect amalgam of progressive, technical, and catchy metal (the qualities complement instead of take away from each other), with influences from classical music such as Vivaldi's Four Seasons guiding the rich leitmotifs, which carry the entire thematic along with the intricate narrative resting on the backs of characters and worlds woven into an intricate tapestry, all tied up in these art-statement videos... it just speaks to the absolute mastery that you folks (Synestia, Disembodied Tyrant, Blake Mullens, and others I might be missing) have over your craft. This EP is more than deserving of its namesake, which is one of the greatest literary epics of our past. Let this be a testament to the power of collaboration in the metal space, where virtuosos such as you have the potential to band together and create music that is simply gestalt.
What I love about this entire EP is that it’s not only amazing deathcore, but also how each song a uses a different melody from “The Four Seasons,” one of the most recognizable pieces of classical music ever. Death Empress uses the melodies from “Spring,” I the devourer uses the melodies or “Summer” and so on. It’s a really great form of story telling as it tells a story of how a medieval conflict had escalated through out the course of a year, with conflicts brewing in the first song during the spring, preparing for battle during the summer, having the battles during Autumn (which in medieval times is when most battles were fought due to the climate), and the aftermath of the battles in the winter. Best EP of 2024 EASILY
That is so cool!!! Truly masterclass in concept, story, visuals, music, creativity, musicianship. It's honestly unbelievable considering how young they are too.
@@Patrick-qe4jslisten to the start of Death Empress and I the Devourer for Spring and Summer, then the part in Poetic Edda where the guitar and violin are going back and forth for Autumn
I agree. I know it's sorta cliche to compare this immediately to Lorna Shore, but them and Slaughter To Prevail are kinda the "it" kids of deathcore right now. Anyway, no disrespect to Will Ramos and Co, but this blows everything else I've heard in the genre out of the water. I had no idea metal could get this facemeltingly heavy and still maintain such a crisp melody.
i have no words to describe how fucking good this EP is. it's everything i've ever wanted out of a symphonic deathcore release and more. i wasn't sure whether they'd be able to make something better than the title track, but they somehow did it. i'm just speechless, wholeheartedly agree with your 10/10. they deserve to be on the same recognition level as lorna, absolutely masterful release. wow.
This is what deathcore and metal in general is all about and why i love this music so much: heavy, catchy, creative, poetic and just mindblowing music! 🤘 Oh, and thanks for introducing me to a new incredible band!
Nothing even compares to this EP. I've never heard any kind of metal that I could define as "perfect". Except these tracks. This EP is actually perfect.
I blasted these songs after picking my kids up from summer camp they were terrified lol. I was headbanging and laughing whole time. They weren’t sure what to think of me after hahahahah
Fimbulvetr (fimblewinter) precedes Ragnarok and is described in the Poetic Edda as being three consecutive winters with no reprieve and just snow everywhere. Winter fucking NAILED that. This EP is 100% my most favorite album that has ever been made. It is beautifully brutal.
METAL VIVALDI YAAAAAAAAAAAASSS! WE HAVE BEEN BEGGING FOR THESE LAST TWO TRACKS! And of course I can count of on you to let me know of the release of this glorious filth.
the level of appreciation i have for the fact you were not constantly pausing and backtracking and just let it play enjoyed the music with some commentary and then talked about it. mad respect you got a new subscriber man well done(edit because i forgot to type a word)
My 5 year old daughter really liked I, The Devourer last year. She called it the Crazy Song. I wonder what she’ll dub the rest of the EP. I can’t wait to play it for her.
Deathcore and heavy metal in general, I feel is in a weird place right now. It's the biggest and most evolved it's ever been, but also somehow feels stagnant at the same time. I think you hit the nail on the head when you mentioned all the bands trying to out heavy eachother for the sake of making ignorantly heavy songs. But THIS! This is truely something else. One of very few artists in the "deathcore" scene right now that's capable of story telling through their music. It really does feel like watching the climactic finale to a movie or series. The way they build suspense right up to the drop and all the seemless transitions, these songs really take you on a ride. These guys are total class acts and I couldn't agree more with the rating of the EP. Can't wait to see what they do next!
Finally! This EP is a masterpiece, every song is amazing. I hope we can see more from both bands soon. I need more.. And we really need more classical influenced Deathcore
The breakdown in the first song sounds a little like everywhere at the end of time mixed with death core and I have been waiting for a band to do something like that !!!!
I personally just have always struggled to get into the vocals of Deathcore... But the production, the ambiance, the musicality, and the epic choirs are all dope as hell. Wish more metalcore and djent bands would do large epic tracks. Imminence gets close and a few others do every now and then as well, but i'd love to see more choir and orchestra in metalcore cause it's genuinly dope as hell.
If these two bands could just fully combine I think my head might explode. I’m right there with you my man. Speechless. Goosebumps. Just pure enjoyment. This is what I needed today. Love ya Birb 🔥💚
If there ever was music at the dawn of all creation in the empty black abyss between space and time, I imagine this is what it would sound like. Dark and beautiful. It sounds like eternity.
I think they wanted a song that reflected a doomed world dying and they managed to transmit that to me, i felt that world dying i felt the doom in the last breakdown it actualy gave me anxiety, this is trully a masterpiece
Wed: I don't listen to deathcore, it's just not for me. I'll max out at metalcore, and that's fine. Fri: Why yes, I do listen to deathcore now. What changed? See, there's this band I just listened to for the first time...
The only thing I would criticize is that ending on a breakdown became a bit formulaic with these tracks, but even that I don't feel in full, because I loved those breakdowns. Easily one of the best metal releases this year, maybe the best. The ambition of this, a 4 song EP, went so above and beyond most bands full LPs and delivered on it in a big way. Instant classic material in my mind.
I get what you mean, however I loved how differently the breakdowns were handled in each song. I really hope these guys get more recognition for the amazing music they've made in this EP (and their own releases too, honestly).
"The heaviest things still hasn't been heard." So fucking well said. And this band truly is pushing the boundaries of deathcore, if you even wanna box them into that. Winter gives me Vivaldi + Humanity's Last Breath Ashen vibes. And that's one of the best compliments I can give it since that's my fav metal album of last year. The sound is massive, a fucking behemoth of a musical experience. Masterpiece, absolute masterpiece
So much skill and substance and sheer INTENT is just mind-blowing. They really understand the psychological structure of song-writing and I love it. Also, that breakdown at the end of Death Empress goes so hard that it had me questioning if I still exist afterwards. Tonally? It feels similar to someone doing older Shadow of Intent better than Shadow of Intent did older Shadow of Intent...if that makes any sense whatsoever. Either way, I fucking love this entire EP.
I'm glad you reviewed this! I really hope more channels will check out the new releases of this EP, or even the first 2 songs, frankly. I was completely blindsided by the release of the 2 new songs, and I'm so happy the 2 new songs are just as good as the former ones. I loved the use of Vivaldi's Winter movement in Winter, and knowing this reference, I'm going to listen more carefully to the other songs in the EP for the Vivaldi influences. This EP has some of the very best deathcore out there, but I'd go on a limb to say that this is just some of the best metal music of the year. Bravi tutti to Disembodied Tyrant and Synestia! I truly hope you get more recognition and love for this amazing EP!
this is DEFINITELY not my type of metal. but HOTDAMN! that second track was the SH!T!!!! the last 12 hours have been very fruitful, metalwise.. i heard winter this morning and Phoenix V: Invocation by night verses last night. my metal heart is full and i am full of adrenaline!
Thank you for giving it a chance!! I’m seeing a common thing where people who aren’t into this style of heavy music appreciate it. I think that’s what makes it special just like Sleep Token for non metal listeners!
