    In all honesty, when I first started watching the video I was questioning changing the original designs of the parts or doing any unnecessary modification like cleaning up the original casting because in theory it takes away from the history of the piece. For me, this is a reconstruction and not a restoration, the object has lost all information about how it was made. It is now the projection of the rebuilder's aesthetic: the wood must be stained (to look old?), the metal must be shiny (to look new?), the castings must be smooth (to look like they were made by plastic injection?). Now it looks like a new retro tool.

    One of the things that I admire about the folks like you and the restorations that you achieve, is the way that you take early industrial assembly line objects and make the refinements that ought to have been done and would have been done if these were made by hand individually. You literally make them better than new while still keeping them the way they were when they were newly made.
    I'm convinced that some of these restorations will last another 100 years or more the way you repair and refine these objects.

I was married to a machinist for years.. the precision of your work is just beautiful. The finished product is pure art. From a home-cookiing standpoint, nothing slices better than wire. Wishing someone could make me a hand-held version that's got that old-style elegance & simplicity, AND lasts a long time.. I wonder what I'd pay for that? That was much more enjoyable to watch then I first expected. You got an insane good eye for detail, I know next to nothing about metal working or restoration, but your work looks very impressive! A bit sad some parts were broken and missing but you solved it beautifully.

      I had this suggested out of nowhere to me tonight, and I am quite impressed with how much care and attention to detail is taken. I will openly admit that he puts in far more effort than I would have thought of doing, and on something that I would have never considered restoring as well.

    Ok this is my first video of your channel. I'm probably hungry because I'm viewing this thinking your restoration is somehow *delicious* and I'm not talking about cheese. The polishing and shiny looks make this old thing appear absolutely amazing, like it's a new product. And the special skill you just showed by making new small tools just for the sake of completing the specific parts... Subbing because this is VERY satisfying 😭👍🏼

    Wow. After the first few minutes I thought, "Am I watching a My Mechanics video?" There's nothing to differentiate! I've been wondering for the last few years if there was any other channel that lived up to that master of machining and restoration, and I may have just found it. I'll have to watch a few more videos before I can say for certain, but this is very promising! Well done mate!

    I love your attention to detail. When you restore you aren't just making it nice and shiny but you are restoring as close to original as is possible. That makes you exceptional. I was actually surprised to see that it split the cheese in 4 before slicing it. Is that optional or just the way it was made?

    • @CoolAgainRestoration
      @CoolAgainRestoration  2 года назад +2

      Thanks and glad you liked it! No, actually that wires who split the cheese in 4 pats are for butter,not for cheese . But I didn’t found a block of butter so big and I used cheese.
