  • Hello ladies and gentlemen! Nate the Lighting Guy here with a new light show programmed to @EverenMaxwell song Breaking Time! After the show, I go into detail on how I programmed it! This was fun to do, but it took me a long time! I hope you like it!

Very cool. I do stuff like this but the pro lighting communities where I could discuss this sort of thing won’t entertain this kind of programming or don’t know it’s possible with these sort of effects fixtures. My efforts are often viewed with disbelief or belittlement. Good job here.

    This is really cool!
I'm interested in why you chose the Midi approach as oppsed to the show manager. Can you explain your reasoning for this?

Thank you! That's a great question. For this light show, I wanted to complete the programming as soon as possible and did not have very much experience using show manager. I went with my tried and true route and programmed it with MIDI via LMMS. The most time consuming part of programming was spent in QLC+ making all the scenes and assigning them, but once that was done, sequencing in LMMS was pretty easy. One thing I really like about sequencing with LMMS is that it just takes one click to add, click and drag to change timing, and one click to delete. The grid layouts are a little easier to work with in LMMS as well, being that this song is a fast 160 BPM and I had the quantize grid set to 1/32 in some sections. I probably could have saved time and made some sections into sequences (there are a few chasers, that are triggered by one key), but maybe I'll try that next time. I hope this answers your question. Thanks again!
