After an exhausting speaker search, I purchased the Q-Acoustics concept 50’s. Love the looks, the build quality is excellent. They sound fantastic. I love them. Keeping mine forever. I highly recommend them. Their customer service is excellent s as well.
What's REALLY crazy about the "High-End" or "audiophile" world, is that speakers are all pretty much the same or similar in basic concept and design, within a reasonably narrow window of extremes, (they're ALL an electromechanical way of converting electrical signals into physical air movement that our ears can actually hear), AND the basic premise of a loudspeaker in general is also relatively simple, especially when compared to all of the other components in the audio chain, but yet speaker PRICES, from the absolute cheapest, (usually used or second hand), to the absolute MOST ridiculously expensive brand new ones, is a TOTALLY ridiculous RATIO of literally about 1 MILLION to 1, which is almost unbelievable, but totally TRUE!
Well, maybe not 1,000,000 to 1, but it'd be pretty close I guess. And yeah, it _is_ crazy! It's also hard to think of any other comparable product/industry except for maybe jewellery. What's also crazy (I think) is that despite all the similarities between speakers, and the relatively basic technology that goes into them, there's _still_ so few really good speakers out there! You'd think they'd have it down pat by now! Ahaha.
@@simesaid In my experience, or knowledge about speaker prices, the ratio really IS about a million to one, because I've personally literally bought (used) pairs of small bookshelf or desktop type speakers from thrift stores and garage sales for $2/pair, or $1 each before, whereas the absolute MOST expensive speakers brand new that I've ever heard of are between 1-2 MILLION dollars per pair, so that's the only reason I initially said that!... And you're right also, in that really the ONLY other "industry" where there is THAT WIDE of a variance between prices, from lowest to highest, is either JEWELRY OR definitely ARTWORK... The "problem" is that more than a few speaker manufacturers seem to think that their SPEAKERS ARE "artwork", which I guess in some weird context they "could" maybe be considered that, however, the mass majority of even extremely expensive speakers still aren't REALLY anything SUPER "special" OR "unique", considering the basic premise of what they are. Yeah, they might have a nice looking finish or exterior on them, but underneath that finish, the basic *technology* behind what makes them what they are AND what they do, is pretty much the SAME as a speaker costing MANY times LESS!

My favorite bookshelf speakers of all tim are the onces that I still have -- my Harberth HL-P3's that I purchased over 30 years ago for about $800. They are the best rendition of the classic BBC speakers that IMHP were the best bookshelfs ever made, they are still making them but for well over $3,000. Best speaker under 1K….B&W DM 302. $250pr in the mid 90’s that rocked and still can compete. Love the Goldenear Trento Reference speakers…dollar for dollar how can they be beat.
Future Edit: A flash of the image of the speaker the person is talking about. My own choices: Room Size and price independent (with correct amplifier and renewed drivers): Infinity IRS Beta 4.5. Best Under $1K - assuming we can grab old gear - Klipsch RP3s. I mean, they ain't no Heresy's with the full frontal treble and midrange, but they have definition throughout their range. If you can get them cheap. Get them good.
Under a grand...I have a set of Alesis Monitor Ones . They are way under the radar. Any speaker at any price? Nestorovic Labs 5AS Mark V have no weaknesses.
My favorite cost no object would be the Steinway Lingdorf Model D system. Under a1000 i would pick something in the Heco range. Something in between i would pick the Qualio Iq. They sound great but why isn't there more of a buzz with these??? I don't kow why.
Alright alright; this channel has really convinced me to buy Q Acoustics! :) The question is just if I should get the 5020 or the 5040. Well, first find a new house and see how big the living room in it is, or course.
You're clearly having a blast! What a great video - haven't heard of most of those super high-end speakers, but if I could own any speaker, regardless of price, it would be the Infinty RS V. But after hearing from Paul McGowan that a pair weighs over a TON I guess that's unealistic (not to mention the fact that my wife would kill me).
Wow, has this channel changed. From interesting, relatively inexpensive gear, to now trips to Italy and speaker recommendations that for a variety of reasons are the result of bias (i.e. who is writing the check for this trip). Then again, this is the same channel that pushed the awful Jamos, has shown clear bias with Geshelli Labs, and then has pushed Emotiva -- so maybe I should not be surprised. I will keep rolling with my Vandersteen 2ces....
Q acoustics seems like the consensus choice! And boo to the dude whose taste is sooo refined he couldn't possibly name a speaker under $1k....yet is wearing the the world's most tacky cowboy hat 😆.
He reminds me of the one guy every audio store had back in the 90s that wouldn't give me the time of day because I was starting out and looking at used or their cheapest stuff. Now I'm fortunate enough to be able to buy what I want when I want it, and I don't give those guys the time of day.
Or maybe as someone else mentioned "three of the four people who named Q Acoustics as their favorite under $1k speakers work for Q Acoustics importer Fidelity Imports, who also paid for the trip."
Great video idea !.. Have to review all those sub 1k speakers mentioned now, maybe starting with KLH ? Just joking, but it would be a nice follow up idea...
Under a thousand is not cheap, brother! 😂 That said, I'll save up 1k to buy a good pair of speakers. I'm surprised the Q Acoustic 5000 series was mentioned, and I feel good about it because I like their speaker designs. I’m aiming for Concept 50 and 5040 or 5050 for future buy.
Q-acoustics is killing it under a thousand with these guys. Some of them cheated and chose speakers that were under a thousand each, instead of a pair :p
You are getting to be a real jet setter. I have the Q Acoustics 3030i. They sound good but not as good as a tower speaker even when paired with a sub. I occasionally listen to them but I now primarily listen to the Magnat Transpuls 1500s or the Klipsch RF8000Fs.I like big sound when I listen to music.
Under $1000 Id grab a Used set of speakers. Can get really great older models that way. Even some Vintage speakers are worth it. Cost no Object, out of what I’ve heard Alsyvox, and under $20,000 Heretic Loudspeakers. Alsyvox are the best Panels I’ve ever heard. Heretics are the best Traditional Dynamic driver. They use Altec Lansing style designs, like the A7.
You can laugh, but I still have a set of original Fluance SX6's wall-mounted at my desk. Driven by an Emotiva A-100 class A/B. Had them there since 2014. In that specific application, I can't seem to beat them due to the clarity and the bass response:size ratio... for the money, of course. I;m going to try your favorite Sony's in that spot next, though.
Looks like the vino got hit hard last night. Zero clue for me re: brands and models in the no limits spkrs. Under 1k spkrs seems like the favorite was the Q acoustics.....Uhmmm. Great segment Sir, always keeping it real.🇮🇹👍🍇
i miei (sei venuto in Italia e il commento lo scrivo in italiano) gli altoparlanti, tra quelli che ho ascoltato, che mi hanno colpito di più senza limiti di prezzo sono stati degli Infinity (se non erro serie K), anni 90, non ricordo il modello, ma ricordo che erano modulari e grandi gli altoparlanti sotto i mille? ProAc Tablette o le BBC LS3/5a (ovviamente usate)
Love Opera speakers..... but. I'd like to see a shootout of $500 'killer bookshelf and sub' combinations that slay $1000 + towers please. I have just invested in a wiim amp to replace an early lifestyle mattantz network amp I had hooked up to a Cambridge Audio Minx sub and a pair of Monitor Audio radius 270's .... I'm blown away at the eq and bass management. So... assuming someone has a wiim amp or something else with a sub out... are their any cheap bookshelves with astounding mid and top end performance (that sacrifice bass) that really gel well with a quick cheap sub to rival some serious towers ? In my experience the pursuit of low end performance with cheap or small volume cabinets using budget components only results in low end mud killing mid clarity.... surely some budget boxes that excel in mid and hf performance exist where bass has been sacrificed can form a shootout paired with a active sub. You know... all those speakers that get pushed aside because one reviever or another immediately discards them due to no poor bass response against rivals. I'd like to know about the budget speakers where the cost has gone into mid and treble performance as a priority...... cheers. J .. in Scotland. Ps. The small Cambridge Audio minx x201 active sub is £250. It's small and very quick. So, I guess I'm asking for a review of £250 bookshelves to pair with something like that.
Ask an audiophile for something under a thousand, get a recommendation for something a little over a thousand. Some things never change.

The dude that says Western Electric horns from the 1930s are the best ever, and DIY Lowthers....that's just really.....weird.
I am weird!
Devon Turnbull has built his company on resurrecting old Western Electric and Altec drivers and designs. Along with cost, one has to have the space for refrigerator sized cabinets. Incredible sound but not home friendly.
Well, the Q Acoustics are very popular apparently. Unison Research are very good amps. Let's see what you've seen in the next video. Thank you Randy 😊
Inspired video. Very impressed. Dang, go Q-Acoustics. Now you're gonna get people accusing ya'll of conspiring on behalf of that brand. 😂
@@gotham61 oooohhhhh!
@@gotham61 not everything’s a conspiracy, sweetie.
@@gotham61 Thanks for trolling. Maybe those 3 actually believe in their product?
@@1mctous agree. Benefit of the doubt. They seem valid in their preferences.
Grumpy commenters seem to have more fun spreading rumours of a mythical conspiracy in a rather niche hobby rather enjoying the hobby. Strange.
@@gotham61 just looked it up. Interesting:
conspiracy theory
noun
: a theory that explains an event or set of circumstances as the result of a secret plot by usually powerful conspirators
also
: a theory asserting that a secret of great importance is being kept from the public
Ex. “There is a vast conspiracy of distributors influencing the influential audiophile RUclips reviewers in an effort to get me to spend my money and enjoy music. I’m so angry, [indecipherable nonesense and shaking fist at sun for shining too bright].”

Best speaker under 1K….B&W DM 302. $250pr in the mid 90’s that rocked and still can compete. Love the Goldenear Trento Reference speakers…dollar for dollar how can they be beat.
Love the video! Love the ambiance and all of that crap😁 Go your own way Randy! 🇸🇪
Jetset Randy the audio Dandy!
My favorite cost no object would be the Steinway Lingdorf Model D system. Under a1000 i would pick something in the Heco range. Something in between i would pick the Qualio Iq. They sound great but why isn't there more of a buzz with these??? I don't kow why.
QAcoustics ftw. Fantastic speakers. Never heard a pair I didn't love. Incredible value really, just compete with speakers 2x,3x,5x their price.
Apogee Stages. Still own them. Still sound great!
As a Q-Acoustics 3050 owner the number of shout outs is embarrassing!
Alright alright; this channel has really convinced me to buy Q Acoustics! :)
The question is just if I should get the 5020 or the 5040.
KLH model 3 under 1k !! Is there a sale on ..
Great videography, are you doing the filming or did you hire someone? Also could be your cameras...😊
Wow Randy you are with the industry big guys. Good for you.
Cheapaudioman is now Worldtravelerman! Your videoography is very nice!
Thanks! I really enjoyed this video, and I am very jealous!! What beautiful scenery, both inside and out.
Q acoustics seems like the consensus choice! And boo to the dude whose taste is sooo refined he couldn't possibly name a speaker under $1k....yet is wearing the the world's most tacky cowboy hat 😆.
Yeah, not of fan of his either. Just a tad too arrogant for me.
He reminds me of the one guy every audio store had back in the 90s that wouldn't give me the time of day because I was starting out and looking at used or their cheapest stuff. Now I'm fortunate enough to be able to buy what I want when I want it, and I don't give those guys the time of day.
Welcome to Treviso. Hope you enjoy
Wining and dining. How are you fitting in? It’s like they’re trying to turn you to the dark side.
Love this channel. PLEASE start telling us whether prices are per pair or per speaker. Thanks
Gabagool on bread! Yum. Looks like your having a good time my friend.
Q Acustics! Has really caught my attention to detail. Its good to see I wasn't the only one hearing awesome sound.😎👍
Or maybe as someone else mentioned "three of the four people who named Q Acoustics as their favorite under $1k speakers work for Q Acoustics importer Fidelity Imports, who also paid for the trip."
Don't tell me it's the Sony SS-CS5
Absolutely!!!
This was excellent but this Q acoustic trend really made me feel huge FOMO. What's going on with this brand !!
I absolutely love my Q Acoustics 3030i
I have two sets of q acustics tower speakers one set on my valve amplifier and the other on my Yamaha class a transistor amplifier
Love your channel, i'd like to see a review on HECO Aurora 1000
Fun watch! Thanks!
I would love to know what they think is the best speaker under 200 dollars!
Very fun video! Love the touring, all the while staying on-topic!
The guy that said KLH Model 3 under a thousand bucks? Technically $750 USD Each. Most other guys priced in pairs under 1k.
Given what things cost now, I'd like to hear the choice for $1k to $3k.
Great video idea !.. Have to review all those sub 1k speakers mentioned now, maybe starting with KLH ? Just joking, but it would be a nice follow up idea...
I love these travel videos! Venice is spectacular.
Then definitely get the MBL Extreme 101s excellent sound field.
Best speaker I own under 1000
Is the Dayton audio opal 1 and the best I have heard is the Starke sound beta 7
listen to yamaha studio monitors and give a good comparison to hifi vs studio speakers
Love my Zu's, I think there is a pair up for sale right now on US AudioMart for around $900.
Mod them first. They have a 1 to 2 DB rise and ringing around 1.1khz . If you can put up with that, they are great.
Hope you and yours are doing ok after the storm yesterday
Looks like the vino got hit hard last night. Zero clue for me re: brands and models in the no limits spkrs.
Under 1k spkrs seems like the favorite was the Q acoustics.....Uhmmm. Great segment Sir, always keeping it real.🇮🇹👍🍇
This is a really cool video.
i miei (sei venuto in Italia e il commento lo scrivo in italiano)
gli altoparlanti, tra quelli che ho ascoltato, che mi hanno colpito di più senza limiti di prezzo sono stati degli Infinity (se non erro serie K), anni 90, non ricordo il modello, ma ricordo che erano modulari e grandi
gli altoparlanti sotto i mille? ProAc Tablette o le BBC LS3/5a (ovviamente usate)
Audiophiles are still looking for that fantastic high, only to bounce at the bottom.
Unattainable desires.
I'm getting priced out or off of your channel 😆
Don't take advice from
any of these paid actors
Yes the Swan MB42X G2. Try them.
