What are names of two last songs- one has arrangement but no words- can’t place- sometimes it’s hard to tell what song it is if it’s just guitar or another line instrument- but one thing: Robbie may have failed his “brothers” in some mythical place where life is fair - but he sure knows when to NOT play. To me, that hardest lesson- a lot of times - w this many in band less has to be less- also not surprising Robbie would go into film music production - he can do it in his sleep-- and yeah, by the mid 70:, the whole thing started getting old- I think trouble started big time w the Dylan tour but who knows w these guys - -all gone , save for Garth and he ain’t giving up SHIT - if he hasn’t by now -such a bitter sweet tale- jmho-

I never read that they recorded at Dylan’s house. Don’t know about that; instead, the photo looks as if they’re in the living room at Big Pink. They did lay down a few tracks upstairs from the basement. Anyone know for sure?

The photo isn't from the Basement Tapes, I think it is from the Music From Big Pink sessions, but it fitted

@@ThePizzageek I'm not saying it's from Big Pink (the house), but rather from the Music From Big Pink album sessions, especially because of how Richard and Robbie look

No comment on this photo, but initial basement tapes recording was done at Dylan's house in the "red room" (which was actually painted blue).

Honestly, I might have to check but I think I have a more high quality version of Katie’s Been Gone (though it might be a different recording).

there must be a master, because if they are outtakes from The Basement Tapes they should have the same quality as those on the album

@@justaaccount8738 with how much this stuff was bootlegged it’s possible lo get sources are out there. Either the version I think I have it cleaned up or was just never distorted. You also uploaded a lower quality version of orange juice blues which has been officially released in high quality, who knows sometimes.

I'm pretty sure they are different versions, it shows in how Richard sings

This is from the Wiki article on the 1975 vinyl release of The Basement Tapes:
Probably one of the first numbers written by Manuel and Robertson in mid-1967, one of "the songs that all but announced the birth of the Band". A different mix of the same recording was released as a bonus track on the 2000 Music from Big Pink reissue. [Sid] Griffin believes this [the album version] was recorded in Woodstock, with drums overdubbed in 1975. [Barney] Hoskyns asserts it was "almost certainly" recorded at CBS's Studio E in New York in September 1967, with a drummer present, possibly Gary Chester.
