This song reminds me of that heartbreaking moment you sometimes encounter with someone you genuinely care about, where things don't work out despite your best efforts. You spin your wheels over and over, with this faint hopefulness, and then eventually the dark parts of both of you squelch out the joyous, loving feelings you once had. This hits home with all of that for me. Very many feels. How many? So many
Me and my family first heard this song while moving back to Kansas City. We had moved away from the KC area for 2 years, we missed it so much that we moved back. It was a small moment of happiness from my childhood. A perfect moment if you will.

My dad watched this documentary when it first came out, and I went and downloaded this song right away after seeing this scene. This song got me through a lot of heartache. I still listen to it almost daily.
Nearly one year ago, my little brother and I were driving down I-5 headed to Brookings, Oregon. On some random radio station in the middle of the night. The second we heard the words "Kansas City" We both shut up. We were born and raised there, trapped on the Oregon trail as younglings. This song means the world to me, as I dream of heading back one of these days.
I had the pleasure of visiting Kansas City last week and absolutely fell in love....... As much as I love my home and birthplace of Los Angeles I think I found where I'll start the new chapter in my life.
I moved to Massachusetts for my girlfriend. Months later I’m now homeless, my car is a loss, and I’m broke. I only have enough to get back home. While preparing for the journey back, this song keeps playing in my head. For once I’m happy. I’m going back to Kansas City.

I think the lyrics struck a chord with Marcus, he later told his story of abuse as a young lad. He is an amazing singer and musician. Johnny Depp et al did a fab job.

Being from Kansas City, this is one emotional song for me. The most miraculous timing of me hearing this song for the first time broke me down. I was visiting family in Texas a couple years ago and on my last day in they took me shopping before taking me to the airport.
