Lyrics
Did you ever want it?
Did you want it bad?
Ohhh, my
It tears me apart
Did you ever fight it?
All of the pain
So much pride
Running through my veins
Bleeding, I'm bleeding
My cold little heart
Oh I, I can't stand myself
And I know
In my heart, in this cold heart
I can live or I can die
I believe if I just try
You believe in you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
Did you ever notice
I've been ashamed
All my life
I've been playing games
We can try and hide it
It's all the same
I've been losing you
One day at a time
Bleeding, I'm bleeding
My cold little heart
Oh I, I can't stand myself
And I know
In my heart, in this cold heart
I can live or I can die
I believe if I just try
You believe in you and I
In my heart, in this cold heart
I can live or I can die
I believe if I just try
You believe in you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
In you and I
Maybe this time I can be strong
But since I know who I am
I'm probably wrong
Maybe this time I can go far
But thinking about where I've been
Ain't helping me start

Pink Floyd meets Marvin Gaye meets Leonard Cohen. Brilliant sound.
Saw him live when I was battling heroin addiction and it was like a spiritual rebirth for me and this album helped me get clean. Been sober for a year and and a bit.
Keep listening, enjoy 'clean' music!!!
Bro, I've been clean for 12 years and am so thankful every day I have real relationships and live life. Life hurts, but its real and I'm proud of you for choosing yourself and your future. All the best, compadre. Stay the course, I wanted to turn back sometimes, it changes the brain, but you got this!
Wonderful. Keep it up.
Congratulations, I'm so proud of you!!! You got this, one day at a time, and hell, one hour at a time if need be - that's how it is for me sometimes at least. . . . just know that you are stronger than any addiction you may battle in life, keep your head up always, forgive yourself, and ALWAYS ALWAYS love yourself more than any one else ever could!
@@Macamposd So proud of you bro!!! Keep loving yourself and lifting yourself and others up on the daily!!! The world needs more people like you who show understanding, love, and encouragement to others 🤜 🤗👏🙌
Driving my truck cross country and this song brings tears to my eyes. Loneliness on the highway and missing my family. This is pure talent
Would love to connect and share music! Music is the one thing keeping me from feeling lonely. I would love to share more with you
I wish you all the best bro! You should listen to that song "arriving somewhere but not here". ❤
I wish you all the best!
thank you and your family for everything you do for this country..stay safe.. n my prayers
Be safe on the road. And thank you for doing what you do. 🙏
Probably one of the most amazing compositions of our time...especially if you've been through it and really know how it feels.

The guitar is a story in itself. A story of longing and regret and wanting to atone for a mistake made. What a beautiful masterpiece! 2024 and I am still here.
I'm 71 years old. I love this song . . can listen to it all night long. I wonder how many other "geezers" my age can appreciate this young man's incredible talent.
Me for one. Got into his music a couple of years ago (except 'I'm a black man in a white world' which I resented
You're 7 years ahead of me. All I can say after the first listen to anything from this artist is, wow.
Not also the man... everyone!! 💖 Luved the choir~
There are plenty of us old geezers here.
I agree with you i can keep on listening to this song
This is music. Rich music. Expect no better kind of music from our generation. The legends are proud to have Michael Kiwanuka as a heir of rich music.
Do yourself a big favor. Pour yourself a big glass of whatever suits and dial this puppy up as loud as you can get it. Fabulous...Lyrical and great lyrics. Five Thumbs Up.

For every broken soul that's lost someone they loved, I pray that you meet them again and continue where you left off. God knows I would like that too.

I'm now 69 years of age and listen to pop and rock and soul music for maybe 60 years. This young man called Michael Kiwanuka with this song has added a masterpiece to my personal list of songs for eternity, thank you Mr Kiwanuka.
@Georg Eickhoff could you share your list please? I love this song too so you definitely have great taste sir!

Sir, if you perhaps use spotify or have some playlist, I'd love to have a listen to your favorites. I love finding music through people and I'd be very interested in getting to know your faves :)

The intro is so Pink Floydish........ I love it and can't get enough of it!
go check out the album full version. it actually has that... liquid crystal sound of pink floyd. amazing song.
amazing yes. but I can only wait so long, so many times for 6:22 to arrive.
*the intro
Totally!! Even, when i heard this song for the first time, i thought it was pink Floyd but then I saw that it was Michael.
@@void-were-prohibitive nah man, the whole experience is what does it. What you are saying is like wanting to have sex just for reaching orgasm. The whole experience is much more fulfilling than actually reaching the end goal
My wife and my baby are sleeping right now, long day by the way... i just opened a beer and this song came just to make the day perfect.
Congrats on your newborn sir!
Wish you many more perfect days in your life❤😊

Already song of the year. A great contender for song of the decade. Essence of pure genius.
im 91 years old...thats some good black music love it!!
I smoked some joints with my wife and then we laid down in bed to go to sleep. Lights off and we put earphones and this song came up. All i remember that i was taken to another dimension with an Afterlife vibe. I certainly couldn't feel my body and it somehow felt like I'm in contact with dear friends and relatives who passed away during my lifetime. My wife said that night she was trying to grab my arm, but it felt very cold to her and i wasn't reacting to any kind of touch, she also stated that i was smiling real wide while asleep. Amazing experience
❤
This is not a song, it's a journey into incredible beauty, omg, what a genius, This is the kind of talent the world should be celebrating.
Amen
Absolutely, Agree w/that.....
Agreed. Music isn't dead it's just harder to find

Yeah this and the video are sublime, and take me specifically right back to my 20’s, working in the St Louis ghetto. Makes me ache all over, but beautifully.

This is the best "new music" Ive heard in years. Im 72 and this is my "go to" music now! ... cant wait to explore more .
My darling brother introduced me to the sounds of this awesome singer/musician. Sadly my brother passed away 06/10/16 suddenly at the age of 45 yrs. We played this track at his memorial in Australia, so beautiful and haunting.i will always think of Andy when I hear it. R.I.P. XXXX

A while ago we drove trough Scotland.. this song started out of nowhere in the car this version actually. The road was very very scenic… the sun came out trough the clouds… was such an epic moment everything geeltje in it’s place
I don’t think many people fully comprehend the level of skill that it takes to execute such a flawless performance. Every unit in this musical group is working in perfect harmony.
Yep, this is bloody amazing (although recording in a studio does permit to edit and mix)
The song unfolds magnificently, this version is thoroughly mindblowing.
Pink Floyd?

don't focus on the technical performance and enjoy the music
Kiwanuka is already a legendary and original musician unlike no other. Pure class. Musical, original and instrumentally and vocally elaborate and stunning. Would love to see him on NPR Tiny Desk!

There is something very special about this. It deserves to be up there with all the classics. Thank you.

Yes but then 2 f***ing RUclips adds in a row.
Cool comment!
Richard O Yes, I hear you, brother!

Today I lost my friend who introduced this song to me. He is just 29. He had so much passion and dreams. Feeling completely void now. This was already my favourite song and listening to this song now more depth and meanings. I came to this video to read all the comments. Kind of makes me feel warm knowing I am not the only one who enjoys music like this.

Shine on You Cold Little Diamond....
Superb stuff.
culltim cool . . .I see what you did there. :))
This didn’t just feel like a song, it felt like a journey. That was beautiful.
The opening of this song takes me back to my religious days in church. I haven't had that sort of experience for years. In this heart I can live or I can die. I choose life
Best version of the song in my opinion
I'm tired of old farts like me saying there is no more real music like in the 70's and 80's. This is beautiful and well made music. It's just a matter of exploring and finding. Wow.
👏
Because it just sounds like the old Songs ;)
Don't even mind that he's borrowing the Gilmore tone/feel a bit....
I recommend listening to KEXP (listen online or with their app. Their RUclips Channel has AMAZING live sessions). They are a cut above the rest as far as genres of music they play. I find alllll my new music there. I found Michael Kiwanuka there as well. They are public ran radio too.
To be honest, this music does borrow greatly from music from the 70's. His guitar tone and feel, and the ARP String Ensemble are staples of the Pink Floyd sound.
I lost my husband of 42 year slowly to cancer, my one, my only and my last love… Michael you are a gift to us all ! Your music cuts straight through the depths of my heart. My heartbreak of loss, you have just helped me release, as my tears flow down my face l am so touched by your music. l have been holding back for so long, a pain that will never go away, only strengthen all my love and thoughts of our most wonderful life we shared together for so long… My dog Skyler and l are alone now… l lost my husband, Cody our 17 year old healer mix, Casey our 18.5 year dog, my cat Cali who was killed the week he died, and her brother to cancer all in this short period of time… Heartbreak only makes us stronger to help us manage our journeys throughout the rest of our life ! 💔🐾❤️ You become more forgiving, tolerant and loving of so many others. LIFE IS TO SHORT … Forgive, move forward and Love everyone !
Love, Love, Love you and your music ! Thank you so very, very much for all your gifts ! 💔🐾 Melanie and my dog Skyler
Sending my condolences Melanie. So sorry to hear of your loss. Hang in there as best you can and give Skyler a big kiss.
My condolences. This song does speak to many emotions. I agree to your words. i think of love for those that we lost is one of the most natural feelings this cut through. I admire the beautiful sincere words you have written for your husband, you can tell you truly had met and embraced immortal Love through and wkth him. For me, I am thinking of the many miscarriages my wife and I suffered. The hopes of a life and of someone you will never meet. This song leaves me stern and pensive, the thoughts and emotions swim through me. I think we all meet the deepest love and loss emotions thanks to this song..all the best Melanie, may music and thinking of your husband keep your big heart warm, not cold or little. Vito
Thank you for your kind words, my love to you and your family ! ❤️

This record leaves me speechless, it's got that Shine on era Pink Floyd, crossed with Otis Redding. Now that is a recipe for happiness. Respect to Mr Kiwanuka

Im listening to it from ashitholein manchester, yep, its beautifull.😁
Sounds amazing anywhere on the planet
Or listening to it over and over ... having a boyfriend in a shitty country... not being able to be together.
Pink Floyd yep, but then the spirit of Bob Marley comes out long strong and powerful as he always did towards the end. Thanks Michael for sending it home ❤!!!
One of the most fabulous pieces of music to be produced in 'years'..... Ladies & Gentlemen.... we have some Pink Floyd coming through, & not through 'mimicking'...... but that unspoken magic, it's just there.
This is a Tanantino Soundtrack if ever I heard one.
Thank you for restoring my faith in young talent.... I was busy working when I first heard this as a suggestion on Tidal, I must have sent it to 100 people in excitement that day loooooool.
An unbelievable song that hits you straight in the middle of the heart. When you think that everything has been done, here it comes Micheal Kiwanuka to tell us otherwise.
How can someone so young, and all alone, be so similar to Pink Floyd?
This guy is a miracle
Why? Because PF's influence is all pervasive. Any serious young guitarist / musican at some point gets the recommendation to listen to Pink Floyd, follows up on it and falls in love with. PF is truly timeless music that will continue to inspire musicians for ages to come. BTW, loving this :-)
He's not quite all alone but being influenced by such an influential band as Pink Floyd is no surprise.
We all are influenced by Pink Floyd, just like every good musician should be. But creating songs similar to Floyd's songs is not an easy job, and he did it brilliantly, despite his age.
Michael you are really special..your music gives me all kind of emotions..
Piero Pasquini Yeah !!!! amazing sound!
dude is channeling otis and bill withers, and then takes it beyond. we're blessed to have a young musician with this kind of deep talent.
omg. I was totally thinking Otis and Withers!
With a little David Gilmour thrown in on the geetar.
Not just a little. Don't sell David short on this one ;-)
Wahn Yoon fucked up part my lil nieces and nephews wont hear of him till I put this in their faces..this music needs to reach these lost souls....
this young and over talented man knows what he is doing..now this is what you call serious music that's very good for your ears and soul...just absolutely brilliant

Come on music minded people this song is an masterpiece like November Rain ,this song deserve a lot of respect!!
Pink Floyd's spirit will live on through many beautiful wonders such as this one.
Total Pink Floyd vibes 🌈 🌚

hello Jenny. Welcome to This song. I'm glad you came along for this beautiful lyrical and musical ride of emotions.
The first time I listened to this song was September 17, 2018. It was a bad time for me. I remember sitting on a makeshift roof, having climbed it with so much difficulty, at 4 in the morning. I listened to this song on loop till the sun came out. That was the first time I ever wrote and here's the poem I wrote that day:
Cold Little Heart
You win.
Amidst the tyranny of my agony, I realize...
My heart succumbs finally,
To my guilt, or to your absence?
Burdened by something,
Is it your virtue or my sins?
Can see myself fading,
Is it the growing dark or the shimmering light?
I feel myself sinking,
Is it a dream, or just the starry night?
Want to ask you once,
Should l stand again or give up the fight?
Bewildered,I run searching around,
Am I blind or is there no one in sight?
Rush to me, strap me in your trap too tight,
This cold little heart may bleed yet again,
Another day, Another plight.
This song will haunt me forever and I'll happily let it.
Wow, just beautiful. Music is an incredible thing for sure.
That is poetry! Fantastic. So well written. What can I say. You have a true gift.

@@dariosepulveda4445 In the 70s, this type of entry into various prog-rock groups was very common, it was not Pink Floyd who invented the genre. It was a musical genre very typical of the time and Michael Kiwanuka was inspired by it. I advise you to listen to more music from the 60s / 70s besides Pink Floyd, such as for example Camel, E.L.P., Genesis, Uriah Heep, etc.
I thought the exact same thing. Amazing
Thanks for the uppity music history lesson Luis - complete with 'advised' listening list - but this is Pink Floyd all over, namely Shine On You Crazy Diamond from the Wish You Were Here album of 1975. If you're not recognising that you have no place advising anyone about anything to do with music. No thanks to your 'prog-rock' wankery anyway, can't stand any of those bands. No one is saying they "invented the genre", but Floyd were in a class of their own.
@@compassolargo ...Kool and the Gang's Summer Madness, Carlos Santana, George Duke, Lonnie Liston Smith, to add my 2 cents to your impressive list.

These guys really know when not to play. I love how beautifully arranged it is . Oh and it makes me cry every single time I hear it. Perfection.
Thankyou from the bottom of my heart.
I am not so young anymore but still a young hippie by heart in an old packaging. I was 18 years at the Rotterdam Pop Festival in 1969 with Pink Floyd, Jefferson Airplane, Canned Heat, The Byrds etc. I love this pure and honest piece, very skillful with a lot of soul. Reminded me of days long gone. Brilliant.
Every once in a great while a song will come along that makes my soul tingle with emotion and I have to stop everything and just listen to. Cold Little Heart is one of those songs. Thank you so much for this.
This song has so many layers and levels to it. It takes you on a very spiritual journey
Man I just wanna hug this beautiful man, I cried some happy tears
Beautiful old school voice. We need more black singers like this to raise the overall quality in music. You know, like in the 60's and 70's.
racist much?
@@steviek2424 its only racist if youre against a race not for it
Nice racist touch Jackie. Ignorance is a bliss. Let music be the one true colorful language of love with no distinction between colors.
@Insert name here: Please look up ‘st Paul and the broken bones’ or the ‘Teskey brothers’ and you will understand that labeling this type of music to black is just a bit narrow minded. But let’s focus on good music and enjoy.
Jackie, I had the same feeling sounds like Pink Floyd, Peter Tosh and The Fifth Dimension all together.
I'll never get over Big Little Lies and how well this song fit in the intro.
Best thing I've heard in so many years. I think this kinda song can really change your life. So powerful, so much feeling. Awesome Michael Kiwanuka, most talented guy
