- Episode 294. I really enjoyed the Glenrothes Whisky Maker's Cut so when this went on sale at Sierra Springs, I quickly picked it up. It brings good spicing, nice vanilla and a sweeter fruit for me. Not as much resinous sherry or darker fruits that I usually think of with only ex-sherry, but a nice pour. Have you had this? What are your thoughts? #whiskyfabric#whiskytube#whiskyneighbour
I'm sipping that same Glenrothes 12 along with you... It's a very good whisky.
It is. I prefer the Whisky Maker's Cut, but this is a good bottle!
A nice dram indeed and I agree with you that the GlenDronach 12 offers more. Cheers Jon.
Thanks for dropping in. I hope you have a great weekend!
Another great review Jon. I have been wanting to try Glenrothes for a while now, I need to give it a shot😁
They have some fantastic age specific releases. I'm still getting to know the Soleo collection, but I am enjoying it. The Whisky Maker's Cut is amazing! I hope you enjoy what you can find. Cheers!
I agree Jon! GlenDronach 12 definitely offers more on the palate than Glenrothes. Hopefully you can find some more GlenDronach! I live in Alberta as well and I haven't seen many age statement GlenDronachs around. I just bought Glenrothes 12 for the first time a week ago and I am very pleased with it nonetheless. The Glenrothes really reminds me of a Macallan.
Yes, Macallan. Thanks for the tasting note, I certainly agree!
👍
Is it a light drink? Do you recommend this or Jack Daniel's?
Those are very different whiskies for me. This is good when looking for Sherry and older wood. JD? Probably better for mixing or just light whiskey
Ontario sees Dron12 at 84$ and ROth12 at 75$ (sale at 68$). . . i LOVE the nose of the Roth, malty ! ... good vid. thx
You are most welcome!
How long can I use the bottle after opening? Is it possible to spoil it?
I find Scotch lasts along time without significant change. I have 4 year old bottles, that still delight. They may have shifted, but only a small amount. Now I keep them in a cool, dark place.
If I get a headache in the morning after drinking whiskey, is it fake whiskey?
Nope. Just had too much the night before!
Is it really good? Can I get drunk well?
I like Glenrothes, but it is a bit rough. All liquor will get you drunk if you drink enough. I would suggest tasting and enjoying, instead of just drinking.
Sorry, I tried the monkey shoulder, I drank almost half of the bottle, but it was not intoxicating at all, it was just confusing. But now I tried Glenrose 12. It is very catchy and great
Why is Glenrots 12 more expensive than Jack Daniel's?
I am not sure. GF is smaller, so it would cost a bit more. Also, the 12 year is older, so the storage would cost more.
I have to agree. The Glenrothes is pleasant enough, but the GlenDronach is more satisfying. One of the things I always look for in a scotch is the taste of the cask, of the wood itself. GlenDronach gives me that. It's just not there with the Glenrothes.
Agreed. I need to find another GD 12, this one is getting low!
@@WhiskyNeighbour Mine as well. If you want to take it to another level, try GlenAllachie 12, though it's harder to find here in Ontario and much harder on the wallet.
@@davidbroughall3782 I just saw it on the shelf of a new store $72. Sounded good, maybe I need to go back and grab it!
@@WhiskyNeighbour I wish I lived out there.. It's $131 here!
@@davidbroughall3782 what? That is insane. Also, I regret not buying it now. Hopefully it is not sold out!
Glenrothes 12 quickly intoxicates and wears off quickly
Interesting!
I think Glendronach is a decent whiskey but not for $100.00 (at least that’s what they charge here for it),. Hell even Quinta Rubin is cheaper!
It sure has gone up in price which is too bad as I still enjoy it a lot!
can we be friends?
