@@chollyappleseed1969 They put the video up for public comment, so of course some of the public will not appreciate that they tore out everything that made the home unique. How about you stop telling other people what to think? (For the record, I tried really hard to come up with something positive to say - I do appreciate that they didn't tear the house down, so at least there is hope for a proper restoration someday.)
It takes a lot of money to do it the way you'd want it . Anything to do with an old building it's a money pit . I'm sure they had a budget to stick to. You could have lent them a few pounds if your that concerned.
Evenings and weekends?...oh yes, this brings back some old memories. You resurrected a fine old house and made it better and made it your own. What a journey, but a great result !
It was super cool to watch this. The house is exactly like the one I grew up in in Wexford. The only thing I'd have liked to see was a traditional slate roof but that is very expensive. Lovely that you brought this old farmhouse back to life. ❤❤ from France.
In France, it is now compulsory to include a chimney flue in all new houses being build, ready for installation of a wood burning stove in case of necessity.
amazing amazing amazing...............your sanctuary has arrived, gracefully thanking you for allowing it to be present in full bloom!! Enjoy, Rest and PEACE be with you!!!
Lovely home you got there!!!!!! Congratulations on al the hard work paying off. Such a lovely place now. I'm very happy for your family. Wish you all the best
Darren, If you convince yourself you have it done before you even start, it will be walk in the park. It’s all about convincing the mind first. The mental and physical success you will get from it will be priceless once completed Go for it👍
The best advice I will give you and this is coming from 30 years experience, get 3 quotations and the person that you decide to give the work to make sure you go and look at the previous one or two jobs that they have done and speak to the homeowners, a lot of people make the mistake of not doing this and ends up to be a huge problem for you, believe it or believe it Not there is still a lot of cowboys out there. I did this for many years and never advertised for work once , my last job was the application form for my upcoming job, hope my reply reads well and is understandable. At the end of the day it’s your money just make sure you spend it wisely and trust the person to carry out the work, do your background searches before saying go ahead☘️🇮🇪
@garyduffy4342 Thanks alot appreciate it 🙏 , starting my research from now my daily are all on Dublin but its impossible for me to buy a property there but I prefer rural Ireland more anyway , appreciate your advice brother 🙏 ☘ 🇮🇪

Both Irish singers, I listened to these Irish songs every minute that I worked on the house until it was completed. Keep an eye out for my next video coming soon 🇮🇪👍
Nothing extreme here just proper rebuild to a very high standard. Just needs a Guinness pump in the kitchen for when it’s too late to get down the boozer.
i hate to see chimneys removed on old buildings, the outside looks much better with the original chimneys than it does without them, i only have one double flue chimney on my house, but it needs knocked down past roof level & rebuilt with 2 old tall chimney pots put back on, to me it prevents the building looking like a drab square box.
Fantastic work well its nice to see the old house being brough up to a Fantastic finish, its really nice to see people with great prie in there work .Best of look to ye and all the people involved in this project 😅🎉

Well done man, it's great to see these houses live again. You did a fantastic job and I wish you and your family the best of luck with it.
Well, thank you for not tearing it down completely
It had a beautiful garden and trees before this destruction , i often wonder why these types dont just buy a modern house in a housing estate.
How about you stop telling other people what to do or how to think
The renovation was fabulous. Well done gary

Nice floor plan, was hard to watch it,ripping and tearing 😅❤
Looks beautiful , how much was the total cost of renovation ? Thanks
Done 80% of the work myself, probably made a saving of €200k I’d say,
@garyduffy4342 Result , I'm in the uk but of Irish decent looking to do the same but not myself haha so looking for rough quotes

Was this family more wealthy, being it was a two story. Noticed horse collars in the shed. Was it part of a farm?
Yes this was part of a farm, anyone that had a farm in the early 1900s was classed as wealthy
Does anyone know the names of the songs?
What are the names of the second and third songs please?
Hello

It’s called Oro Oro by The Fureys
when was the original house built?
Early 1900s
Land commision.my mothers house 1926..u did a gr8 job..maith thú.
Nothing extreme here just proper rebuild to a very high standard. Just needs a Guinness pump in the kitchen for when it’s too late to get down the boozer.
And the plank floor?
woodworm, It was a must to remove
No fireplaces🤔😔
In the next five years won’t be aloud to burn anyway ☺️

Where In Galway is this?
Go to natures lodge in google maps
did a fine job ............if it was me i would have redone the roof with slates .......but that is just my choice......
Jesus. Concrete tiles?
Corrugated sheeting, no maintenance, and was able to complete the whole structure of the roof within two days myself!
Not to my taste, you seem to have removed all its character and turned it into a modern home.

great job Gary, do you mind if I ask what kind of roofing and outside curbing did you use. Thank you for sharing this with us
Sure, no problem
The roof is corrugated steel sheeting tile effect,
And the curbing is railway sleepers
