I thought the V8 builds were the way to go until I realized you can use the K24 swap without having to cut or weld a single thing! Plus you get better weight balance and better traction coming out of corners at WOT. Plus, Honda engines are way more reliable than LS engines.
Yeah, a K24 in this chassis is a perfect match. It actually drops weight from the front of the car and the car still drives like a Miata, despite all the additional power.
K motor is a better swap but to say a K series is more reliable than an LS is a baseless statement.... Apples to oranges. Totally different engines with different purposes and both applied in a huge variety of applications and variants. The LSx is NOT by any stretch of the imagination unreliable. Neither is a well maintained K.
How much total weight is lost up front? I know you say between 30-100 lbs but is that just the engine or including the tubular subframe which I’m sure reduces weight
JLUDE01 LS engine less reliable than a K24? They are simple and underworked engines with very little that can go wrong. I personally think they are a tad more reliable than K series engine. Heck, a mechanic I know told me he once saw a Silverado 5.3 with close to a million km on the odometer with the original engine.
Honda engines are not way more reliable than la engines. They are on par with each other reliability wise, I have owned both. Actually had more problems out of the honda engine than the LS.
this is just unfair hahahaha. no one took the k miata seriously until he lapped the car in second place. every car just seems better with a k series engine.
+Colin Kao it wasn't street driven out west, it was shipped. And the exhaust is especially loud in this video because the microphone is taped to the rear bumper.
That's the type of engine that should've come in the NB. An engine that likes to be revved & makes 200ish hp wakes those cars up & makes the chassis start to work like its capable. I'd love to have a nb miata w/a K series. There just so damn small inside. The factory seats & steering wheel would end up being the first items to go. Otherwise the dept of your pockets is the limit w/those cars. You can build a hell of a track car if you can afford it.
It never get's old. I always enjoy watching this video with the earphones on.
mannn this is so sick.. at 1st I was sold on a 1UZ swap... but I saw the k miata kit... this is definitely the way to go!!
Sounds like half of a GT350 motor.

that dude was properly going for it....that little car is a beast too
Every time I think about supercharger or turbo I come back to this video and it convinces me to do k24 lol
Ok I gotta do this:
Vtec kicked in yo!
Can't wait to order my kit 😈
This sounds so good!

Man this is sick! Would love to see from the point of view on your helmet.
Sounds raspy and mean! But I hope you had ear plugs for the drive out there.

What is the spec (diameter, muffler setup, cat setup, etc) on the exhaust? Sounds freaking gnarly.
great run. love this build.

Sounds fantastic. We've got to stop the miata on miata violence.
I’m surprised it met the noise restriction for Laguna Seca.
Yaaaaas.
i love the k series power im just not a fan of the raspyness exhaust sound honda engines usually make
Seems like you were holding back.
Ferocious
Dam! What sort of power does that thing have?
230whp in this video if I recall correctly
I wish I could do this to my 93. I have the garage and tools to do it. I'm just broke...
What exhaust is this?
Don't you think a cage would be a wise choice in a car like that?
He has a roll bar for sure.
That thang nasty
Wish it could be CARB legal...
Just imagine what a renesis swap would do :)
How much horsepower was this car puting down? I know you guys have made more modifications in recent years. @kpowerindustries8210
hahaha nvm found it "230whp in this video if I recall correctly"
