- Small Town Livin | Onalaska, WA is a short film created for The Onalaska Alliance, a non-profit organization. It was produced by Transcend Videography, and features interviews with long term residents who share their views and history about the town.

I grew up in Winlock, so I get everything they say. Ony was a 'rival' in a lot of school activities, but never in a brutal way. Good people all the way.
I do remember going out to Carlisle Lake to catch frogs for our biology class. Winlock couldn't afford to buy frogs, so us kids had to go out and catch our iwn. I filled up my car with classmates, came out and had some kind of fun...falling in, jumping after frogs we thought we caught, celebrating the frogs we DID catch...great times in our carefree days of youth.
We lived in Ethel,kids went there until we got the notice of the school was the lowest in education. 2009. Napavine is my favorite city. Went to Toledo school from 1st grade and to graduation. All of Lewis county is beautiful!!! I can't wait to come back one day 😁
I hope our small communities stay the same. Everybody knows each other somehow. Strong family,friends, And they take care of each other in times of need!
I love you all and hope for the best. Keep it small and go to town (chehalis) for groceries. 👍🏼

Praise God, I love there comments about there town, I live in Port Orchard Washington and grew up here. Love the town also. Lived in Republic Washington during high school and enjoyed Republic but no jobs moved back to Port Orchard Washington. My uncle lived in Napavine. He loved it.

My little sister grew up in Onalaska, I didn't move there till I was an adult but, she called me one day when she was 15, to tell me she saw her first black person, "at school today" HAHAHA (I grew up in Seattle during the racial desegregation bussing era)

Whats the average cost of living there?
Typical rural west coast prices. Lowest priced house listed this week is $300,000 for 1,400 sf. on a 7,500 sf lot. That five or ten acre piece of property he talks about, with a house would be $500,00 and up. Right now there is a shortage of housing for sale in the entire state.

This is a marketing piece for Onalaska. Clearly they’d like more people to move there. So, that small town feel, and the cheap homes and open land would be gone if they get their “influx”. And, they didn’t even bother to have even a “token” black person in this whole thing, lol.
I filmed it and you're right, it is a marketing piece. How is that different than literally any other town? lol Getting visitors and new residents improves the local economy so it's a no brainer. As far as a "token black person" being in the video, we didn't have many who volunteered to be in the video so we took who we could get.
YOU GOT THAT RIGHT. MORE PEOPLE MOVING IN WILL KEEP THOSE KIDS FROM COMING HOME.
