Mild myopia & glasses since my mid 20's. No more myopia after cataract surgery a few years ago at age 81. But still have presbyopia (+3.25) and current prescription includes +0.50 sphere correction. Definitely need glasses for reading/close-up, but why is it so comfortable wearing them full time rather than not (progressive lenses), even though my distance vision is 20/20?
Do you remember where you got the glasses you're wearing in the video? I really like that style but haven't been able to find something like it anywhere

Hello Dr Allen; Kudos and thumbs UP for a great tutorial for people who wear glasses to understand what it all means! As a licensed optician, I try to explain to my new wearers exactly what the doctor prescribed and how it's going to help. I wish your videos were available when I was starting my career (some 30+ years ago). It's quite possible I would have chosen optometry. I always enjoy seeing your new videos as well as old ones. I'm always trying to keep myself up-to-date. Thank you! -Mitch, Brooklyn, NY

Perhaps a guest speaker at University. Of course there would be a fee for your services. You would give a new perspective since you actually work in the field and just don't teach about it.
Thank you for making this video. I had emergency eye surgery for a detached retina back in December and I'm finally reviewing my old prescription to my new one to see how much of a change it really is.
Thank you so much, I just got bifocals (and/or progressives) at 25 after never having more than maybe reading glasses as a kid 😭 It'd explain my horrible reading ability despite loving it, I have one axis at 10 and another at 75! So no wonder things felt blurred together lol! It's gotten almost constant in the last half a year in a few ways, so I'm excited to have some answers now.
@DoctorEyeHealth Great video & was so informative. I already knew OS, OD & OU & Diopter … now needing bifocals I loved learning my new Glass Rx & the Prism information was amazingly described as well as the added changing positive to negative info was just icing on the cake. PLEASE TELL ME YOU TEACH STUDENTS! You should 👍🏽😎
Thank you so much for the convert minus to plus section at the end. I just got a new eye test and the new prescription was using the + instead of -. The numbers were very different and I thought my eyes must have changed a lot, but it turns out it's just written in a different form.
@@DoctorEyeHealth I have a further question regarding this conversion. Let's say my Sph is +1.50, Cyl is -3.50 and Axis 90, after the conversion, it becomes Sph -2.00, Cyl +3.50 and Axis 180. But since the Sph value changed from a positive value to a negative value, wouldn't that make me far-sighted in one form and near-sighted in the other form? But surely I can't be both far-sighted and near-sighted at the same time, so am I far-sighted or near-sighted in this case?

This is great - super helpful. In 10 years of going to the same eye doctors office, they've never offered to share my vision or prescription measurements. I finally asked this year as I'm trying to wear bifocals and wanted to understand how they're configured. Would love to see content on how bifocals/progressives are configured and measured - and if you haven't already, how glasses should fit, eg when do you need to have the ear pieces adjusted, or the angles of the ear pieces to the lens frames. And - curious how many visits to the eye doc should it take to get the right vision correction? Every year I have to go back multiple times - strength of prescription given is often far too strong. I'm trying really hard to learn as much as I can to help 'correct' when the script is off (and truth be told I don't have time to go to the eye doc 5 and 6 times a year just for 1 pair of glasses)
Thanks Doctor, your videos over the years have been SO clutch for eyeglasses, Transitions and especially ordering prescription sunglasses! My new prescription at the bottom says: Active - Yes Usage - Multifocal The doctor said I wasn't getting progressive or bifocals, but it appears I am maybe? Idk. Thanks!
Thanks for the video and the easy to understand explanations. Since lasers are used to measure distance, is there any chance lasers are being developed to pinpoint focus? I ask because as my Dr narrows in on my vision, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish one lens from another in terms of clarity.
Hi Joey, You are of interest to me, because both of us caused our own myopia by our, "nose on page", read habit. I now prevent re-entry into myopia by making my own refractive measurements. Refractive state = +0.5 Diopers VA = 20/20, Both eyes. I appreciate your efforts and opinions.
dear doctor Allen, thanks for the very informative videos! A question I have, if as in prescription a -1.25 sphere for my left eye distance when I add the +2.25 for near does it mean that my reading glasses prescription will become a +1.00? i.e. from near sighted, my reading prescription becomes farsighted?
Yeah, I am still not 100% sure why they use Plus vs Minus, I'm not sure if that's just an old custom that has never died or if its because they are in the mindset of removing tissue rather than applying a new lens in front of the eye. Either way, it all works out in the end.
Thanks great video, but you lost me at the conversion section at the end. What I'd really like to figure out is how to determine the Sphere or Add numbers to correct a mismatched focal length in a pair of specs. For example, a computer screen at arms length is sharp for the Left eye yet I need to lean forward about half that distance for it to be sharp for the Right eye. Do I need to increase the SPH + number or reduce it to enable the Right eye to see text sharp at arms length? Thx :)
I was able to obtain 2 free eye exams. One from a private practice and one from the UCLA Mobile Eye Clinic that was at a local library one day. The private practice used all of the modern equipment, while the UCLA team used hand instruments. The private practice doctor was an optometrist and the UCLA doctor was an optomologist. Here are the measurements Private Practice = OD SPh +2.25 Cyl -.75 Ax 103 OS SPh +1.75 Cyl - .50 Ax 053 UCLA = OD Sph +1.75 Cyl DS OS Sph +1.50 Cyl +.50 Ax 155 Both NA +2.25 2019 Costco RX OD Sph +1.25. Cyl -.50 Ax 100 OS Sph +1.00 Cyl -.50 Ax. 044 NA +1.75 PAL ADD +2.00 I have only used readers and now need some help with distance. Before I buy glasses I want to find the correct RX. Not sure if there is a major difference, but would really appreciate your insights. Thanks
TY I have noticed about every four months my prescription needs to be changed but my insurance only pays for once a year. Do some people have acelerated changes? My near sightedness is going in reverse. I have gone backwards on it with each check up.
Hey thanks for asking! There can be some causes of a faster changing prescription. In a younger individual, I would be concerned about a condition called keratoconus - which is a progressive corneal disease that often causes frequent prescription changes. For people that are middle aged, the change in prescription could be related to early lens changes (the lens inside the eye begins to crystallize and this can change the power of the eye), which is very normal. in addition if someone had been over-minused in their glasses - they may experience this change to a faster degree as the power of the eye changes and the eye muscles cannot compensate as well. The one other major thing I would want to watch out for would be blood sugar changes such as with early uncontrolled diabetes. Higher blood sugars can cause a swelling of the lens inside the eye and can cause a shift in glasses prescriptions. Hope this helps.
@@DoctorEyeHealthI led a support group at hospital for 20 years for people with fibromyalgia and in myself and others noticed frequent eyeglass script changes happened. Thought maybe drug changes but seemed not on further research. Also the lupus support group I led few times had same question about eyeglass changes. Any ideas? . My degree in Health Ed retired now
@@DoctorEyeHealth ok thank you for reply. Not now, but maybe in 3 to 4 years, if there will be a treatment for eye floaters and doctors are working on it, I'll be happy 😁.
You explained this so well!! I just got my prescription and being the nerd that I am….. just had to look it up. Ive bee. Wearing glasses my whole life and have noticed my numbers increasing as I’ve gotten older. My concern is when I take my glasses off JUST BEFORE BEING EXAMED, my vision is really blurry and doesn’t get a chance to adjust…. And I’m afraid that I’ve been prescribed glasses a little too strong gradually…. Am I wrong I’m thinking this? Is it good to let your eyes adjust so you don’t get prescribed too strong a pens? 🙏 thank you😊
I would LOVE to be a -5.5! I’m a -13 😐. Even with this eyesight, I’m thankful to God often that my vision can be corrected with contact lenses, but it’s so hard to find eyeglasses that I don’t dislike. I am also in the early stages of a cataract in my right eye. I’ll be trying to fight that with good/better nutrition. I feel certain God will help me with that. I’ve just recently found your channel. Keep up the good work! I’m learning so much. I’ll be praying you’ll be able to endure as long as God wants you to endure. 🙏🙂
I'll be praying for your eye health I am a -8 and -9 and can understand how difficult it can be. Thank God He has given men knowledge to make corrective glasses. He also heals and does what no man can do. Great video.
Great informative video? Question about thickness in lens. I have a SPHERE right -0.50 with left Plano and -2.75 CYL correction and both AXIS of 1.80. Why is my left lens thicker more noticeable than my right? 🤔 if you can answer would be really appreciated. I think I got a bad presentation on my right eye. Thanks
My eyes were tested last month and the only difference between them is the Axis (expressed as X 75 for right eye and X 100 for left eye), not sure if this expression is unique to Australia, or just another variation also, one of my brother's friends had her vision drastically altered after she was in a car accident, and she needed prism glasses where the prisms were thin vertical panels across the lenses (between 30-40 years ago)
Hi Good Morning And Thank You For Sharing I Have A Question I Recently Went To Have An Eye Exam I Continue To Get Blepharitis I Get The Sensation Of Something Gritty In My Eye My Doctor Prescribed A Medication Call Xdemvy Will This Help And My Other Question Is Sometimes I Can Look At Certain Objects They Look Like Wavy What Is That ?
Thank you so much! Blepharitis is very common and some people are more prone to getting it than others. Xdemvy is specifically for a certain type of blepharitis that is challenging to get rid of. But in my experience, Xdemvy works like a charm. For the other question, wavyness in the vision can occur for multiple reasons, from anything such as an unstable tear film to migraine headaches to more serious retinal conditions. I wish I could help more but this is something to ask a local doctor about so they can examine the eyes and give a diagnosis. Hope that helps.
How do you know if your prescription includes what is needed for computer reading? I need far and a computer lens but can not tell if it shows that in my prescription. Thanks
When a man @ an eye wear business took out my new glasses out of the case, he got a wow! The best and most expensive glasses I ever had! One insurance paid $100, my second insurance paid $100, and I paid $49.
Wear progressives for daily use but want to get some cheap readers for when just doing reading. How do I know what strength to get based off of my prescription.
I'm not sure how/when to use these numbers from my prescription. I assume they are part of PD break down. OD: 32(far) 30.50(near) OS: 32(far) 30.50(near) OU: 64(far) 61(near). I want to order the glasses on-line. So I am assuming I have to pick the PD depend on the type of glasses that I'm getting. I see some on-line with single or dual-PD. Do I need to use above numbers somehow?
Thanks so much for your expertise. It is just easier that I make my own refractive measurements myself, using my own Snellen and test Lenses. Measurement: 20/20. Refractive STATE IS +0.5 Diopters. Better if you measure yourself.
I have always wondered why eye doctors tell you to wear your distance glasses all day, every day, EVEN when doing close up work. What is the reason for this if people who are nearsighted can see up close?
Some people can take off the distance glasses but it depends on the status/ pull of the eye muscles. For myself, I’m so nearsighted that if I take my glasses off, or don’t wear my contact lenses, then I can see things up close near my face but to keep things single I have to close my eyes. Otherwise I go cross- eyed and start to see double .
Hi, I would be curious tu know your opinion on Essilor Eyezen +. I’m in my late 20s and on my last prescription I had a facultative +0.75 on my prescription. A video on anti fatigue lenses would be great 😊 (I should receive my new glasses in a week, I hope those lenses really do help with headaches). Great video as always
❤hi dr what is the highest sphere and what number is the highest you can go on astigmatism cylinder and axis, want the most power, plus the eye muscles higher numbers thanks ❤❤
Hmmm. Perhaps that is another way to write Manifest Refraction (measured power) and the Final Refraction (Ordered Power?). In eye care, when someone does a subjective refraction (the better 1 or 2 test), the final result of the subjective component is not always what the doctor will prescribe. Because sometimes the subjective results would cause problems with the eyes, such as double vision, for example. That is a bit of a guess though, I have never heard of anyone writing Ordered Power and Measured Power. Can I ask what country you got the Prescription in? Perhaps its a regional thing.
I just got my eyes rechecked and need progressive lenses. My distance vision is not real bad but close up and midways is. I guess they'll give me a copy of my script when my glasses come and that they are working for me.
I'm curious how the prescription is altered for "computer glasses" or some other specialized mono-focus application. My Optometrist will write a separate prescription based on the distance I give her from my eyes to my monitors, but it's a mystery how she comes up with the numbers.
Hey I have an interesting question So assume that you have two patient with -20.00D (patientA)and +20.00D(patientB ) respectively Without any accommodation power Do they see the same blurry image at far distance ?? Is the image of a -20.00D equivalent to +20.00D?
Hi Doc, a quick question, does astigmatism also have near and far sightedness? i.e. objects closeby might look blurry or objects far away might look blurry? Or does having astigmatism mean all objects might be blurry, if yes then why the signs(+,-) My prescription says -2 and -2.5 cylindrical does that mean I'll have to wear glasses 24*7 or only while looking at distant objects?
Hi. I noticed that you have quite a bit of a stigmatism -1.50 and -1.00 of astigmatism. I’m sure I’ve seen you wear -5.50 contacts before. Do you just wear spherical lenses or torics normally?
Hi, Moving the frame of my single vision lens (-6 sph) down the nose, away from eyes, enables me to read more clearer. Does this mean I am adding plus power when I do this action?
For the first time, my script has something under the Distance column and the Near column. Under the Distance column is 20/20 and 20/25 and under the Near column both boxes show J1+. I don't know what this means.
My eye doctor still can’t get my right eye prescription right after 3 times. Seems we can get it right in the office, but when the glasses come….blurry vision at certain distances that don’t match my left eye. They check the glasses and the prescription matches. I do use line bi-focals. After 3 times I gave up and will wait until December when I can get new glasses.
I suppose I should pay attention to prescription numbers. I have two pairs of glasses. One pair is slightly curved/mostly flat. The other is curved oakley prescription sunglasses. I only truly noticed recently that the oakley sunglasses shift my left eye inward. They move letters ever so slightly inward. (astigmatism left eye only). I'm thinking they are acting like prism glasses given the information presented in the video. Probably explains the random headaches I get when going between the two.
What can cause an axis value to change over a 5-month period? I am experiencing poorly corrected vision in my left eye. I had the 5-month-old glasses validated by my ophthalmologist and he tells me they are spot on from the Feb 2024 script. I had another refraction performed today (7/29) and the axis has changed from 171 to 010. The technician performing the refraction told me that this was likely the reason for the poor vision. Thanks in Advance
My optician gave me a lens from stock. My axis is 76 and 80. Is this possible for him to have the right axis in stock . Shouldn't they have ordered the lens
Does 050 in the axis field correspond to 50°? Im ordering lasses and my prescription says 050. On the glases website it lets you choose 0° up to 180° I think. I'm assuming 050 is 50° and not 5°
I saw my ophthalmologist a few days ago and she gave me my new prescription. I happen to also have an optometrist, and her prescription is different from the ophthalmologist. The Sph value is what's different. Any ideas why they are different?
Depends on how much it changed, it’s normal for the powers to sway a small amount depending on the day, the testing room, the technique and if eye drops for dilation were used. Most ophthalmologists don’t do refraction themselves and usually technicians do it for them, and most ophthalmologists were technically never trained in refraction (they mostly learn on the go during training- but never study the theory or technical components). Where doctors of optometry get more training in that area. But if the numbers are close, I wouldn’t worry too much about it.
Hey! Random question: Do you ever prescribe your patients “honeycomb lenses”? Someone I know got honeycomb lenses from their eye doctor “to help with myopia” (doctor’s words) and I was curious how the honeycombs actually help! I love this video btw. It’s quite helpful with my own glasses journey. Thank you!
I'm a little confused at my prescription, Mine has a +1.00 value under the ADD section, but my lenses are just normal (without bifocal, varifocal progressive etc.). Why could it be like that?
Not a medical person. Struggling to understand in layman's terms how one exam produces glasses for bifocals. Having trouble with close up vision even after cataract surgery. I assumed the surgery lenses would have both adjustments for far and near vision. Any extra tweak's would be done with eye glasses. If one of your other videos can help please advise.
So my prescription is -1 on both eyes and just had a visit and doctor told me that me left eye has a -0.5 cylinder axis 50. After i got these new glasses i cant see the same. Its just different with the cylinder lense, it is clearer on my left eye but objects are closer and looks a bit wider. So my question is are the glasses frames to blame for this or im not used to it yet or just need to have cylinder on both of my glasses?
Many people refer to 'perfect' vision as '6/6' or '20/20' (US notation measured in feet), but this is not strictly true - these terms refer to 'average' vision. If you achieve a vision measurement of 6/6, this means that you can see at a distance of 6m what an average person also sees at the same distance.
I have a question: are blacklights bad for your eyes? I grew up loving blacklight posters and I have a blacklight in my bedroom that I use as somewhat like a nightlight. The bulb is not visible and it is pointed upward to light up my ceiling. It's only on while I'm getting ready for bed as ambient light. But could this be bad for my eyes if it's on a regular basis every night?
I recently got a totally botched prescription when I tried to update. The new glasses were too strong and everything over about 20 feet was out of focus. Too late to get a re-do and can't return the glasses. It's so frustrating and I'm so confused about my prescription.
TIL that a prism exists and it may have been a solution for my lazy eye all along.... joy... On the plus side, I did point out the far/nearsightedness based on how big or small glasses make someones eye to several people over the years and my bf has complained about not being able to UNSEE that now
I have been a keratoconus patient since 2010 and currently wearing rgp contact lens on my right eye. My left eye has scarred cornea, can not tolerate Rgp lenses, could you please tell what the treatment of my left eye. Optometrist suggested me to wear Scleral lens.

Is there any type of correction when one eye focuses on a different location? This is especially frustrating for me when reading. A sudden change in location causes a disjointed stream of information. But other times the disjointed information is not easily detected which can lead to all kinds of problems.

As always, so informative and interesting. Wish you were my eye doctor, I am sure many of your followers think the same too!
Coincidentally, today I am studying the optics chapter for my next exam on ophthalmology 😊 this was helpful
That’s awesome! Best of luck on the exam!

My new prescription at the bottom says:
Active - Yes
Usage - Multifocal
The doctor said I wasn't getting progressive or bifocals, but it appears I am maybe? Idk. Thanks!
Dude, this gave me such a good refresher before starting school again after summer!!!
Thank you for sharing your knowledge.
My pleasure! Thanks so much for watching and sharing!
Easy to follow your explanations, Thank you for making this helpful video.
Of course! Appreciate your kind words!
Thanks for the video and the easy to understand explanations. Since lasers are used to measure distance, is there any chance lasers are being developed to pinpoint focus? I ask because as my Dr narrows in on my vision, it becomes increasingly difficult to distinguish one lens from another in terms of clarity.
Hi Joey,
You are of interest to me, because both of us caused our own myopia by our, "nose on page", read habit.
I now prevent re-entry into myopia by making my own refractive measurements.
Refractive state = +0.5 Diopers
VA = 20/20, Both eyes.
This was really helpful!
Ohhh, I know that EHR or EMR you use by the printout. We get it from ophthalmologists but with + cylinders because they know I looove converting RX's.
Thx :)
Very informative to include educational 💯. Thanks
Here are the measurements
Private Practice =
OD SPh +2.25 Cyl -.75 Ax 103
OS SPh +1.75 Cyl - .50 Ax 053
UCLA =
OD Sph +1.75 Cyl DS
OS Sph +1.50 Cyl +.50 Ax 155
Both NA +2.25
2019 Costco RX
OD Sph +1.25. Cyl -.50 Ax 100
OS Sph +1.00 Cyl -.50 Ax. 044
NA +1.75 PAL ADD +2.00
I have only used readers and now need some help with distance. Before I buy glasses I want to find the correct RX. Not sure if there is a major difference, but would really appreciate your insights. Thanks
Great video! Gave me a much deeper respect for Optometrists...
Love your content. Is there a way to convert glasses prescription to contact lenses?
This was very helpful, thank you!
You should do a review on the new Gen S transition lenses!!
They will make an appearance in a video in the next few weeks!
@@DoctorEyeHealthThank you for this information, I’m 70 and had cataract surgery about 20 years ago.
@@DoctorEyeHealthI led a support group at hospital for 20 years for people with fibromyalgia and in myself and others noticed frequent eyeglass script changes happened. When will you go over a contact lense prescription? Would love to understand torque etc-
Dr. Allen - Nice job on "how to read your prescription." I left a question below.
any news regarding eye floaters?
There is always some small news but nothing major right now. There is a new supplement for them coming out but I'm still hesitant about it.
🙏 thank you😊
Great explanation!!
Glad you liked it
Thanks. This was very helpful.
Glad to hear it!!!! Thanks for dropping the comment!

Thanks
My eyes were tested last month and the only difference between them is the Axis (expressed as X 75 for right eye and X 100 for left eye), not sure if this expression is unique to Australia, or just another variation
also, one of my brother's friends had her vision drastically altered after she was in a car accident, and she needed prism glasses where the prisms were thin vertical panels across the lenses (between 30-40 years ago)
Hi Good Morning And Thank You For Sharing
I Have A Question I Recently Went To Have An Eye Exam I Continue To Get Blepharitis
I Get The Sensation Of Something Gritty In My Eye My Doctor Prescribed A Medication Call Xdemvy Will This Help
And My Other Question Is Sometimes I Can Look At Certain Objects They Look Like Wavy What Is That ?

Measurement:
20/20.
Refractive STATE IS +0.5 Diopters.
Better if you measure yourself.
Hey, can you make a video about myopic disc and how it is related to glaucoma?
I have always wondered why eye doctors tell you to wear your distance glasses all day, every day, EVEN when doing close up work. What is the reason for this if people who are nearsighted can see up close?
Some people can take off the distance glasses but it depends on the status/ pull of the eye muscles. For myself, I’m so nearsighted that if I take my glasses off, or don’t wear my contact lenses, then I can see things up close near my face but to keep things single I have to close my eyes. Otherwise I go cross- eyed and start to see double .
Thanks for your response! Is it true that using glasses for up close work, if you are nearsighted, can make your myopia worse?
Hi, I would be curious tu know your opinion on Essilor Eyezen +. I’m in my late 20s and on my last prescription I had a facultative +0.75 on my prescription. A video on anti fatigue lenses would be great 😊 (I should receive my new glasses in a week, I hope those lenses really do help with headaches). Great video as always
❤hi dr what is the highest sphere and what number is the highest you can go on astigmatism cylinder and axis, want the most power, plus the eye muscles higher numbers thanks ❤❤
Is Seeing things Double a sign of astigmatism, because i can clearly see things double, but i have an astigmatism prescription glasses
My prescription has two sets of the numbers. One set is ordered power and the other set is labelled measured power. Is there a difference?
I live in New Zealand. I suspect you are right as I have had a vitrectomy and I'm prone to double vision in one eye. Thank you for replying 😊
I just got my eyes rechecked and need progressive lenses. My distance vision is not real bad but close up and midways is. I guess they'll give me a copy of my script when my glasses come and that they are working for me.
What does Near VA mean Cause in the box on my eye prescription I have J1+
Oh thats from a Jaeger Card. J1 is equivalent to 20/20
I'm curious how the prescription is altered for "computer glasses" or some other specialized mono-focus application. My Optometrist will write a separate prescription based on the distance I give her from my eyes to my monitors, but it's a mystery how she comes up with the numbers.
Hey I have an interesting question
So assume that you have two patient with -20.00D (patientA)and +20.00D(patientB ) respectively
Without any accommodation power
Do they see the same blurry image at far distance ??
Is the image of a -20.00D equivalent to +20.00D?
Hi Doc, a quick question, does astigmatism also have near and far sightedness? i.e. objects closeby might look blurry or objects far away might look blurry?
Or does having astigmatism mean all objects might be blurry, if yes then why the signs(+,-)
My prescription says -2 and -2.5 cylindrical does that mean I'll have to wear glasses 24*7 or only while looking at distant objects?
Hi. I noticed that you have quite a bit of a stigmatism -1.50 and -1.00 of astigmatism. I’m sure I’ve seen you wear -5.50 contacts before. Do you just wear spherical lenses or torics normally?
Hi, do you know if we could get to that level that dry eyes dont bother that much . Co With 5 Ipl treatment should be okay
What if the Add has high on one eye and low on the other but no numbers?
So interesting!
Glad you think so!
My prescription is for tri focal. If I order lens inserts for vr do I need a prescription for near, medium, or far for those?
Is this different from a contact lenses prescription?
On my prescription, my Cylinder says SPH. Would that be the same number as my sphere?
What can cause an axis value to change over a 5-month period? I am experiencing poorly corrected vision in my left eye. I had the 5-month-old glasses validated by my ophthalmologist and he tells me they are spot on from the Feb 2024 script. I had another refraction performed today (7/29) and the axis has changed from 171 to 010. The technician performing the refraction told me that this was likely the reason for the poor vision.
Thanks in Advance
My optician gave me a lens from stock. My axis is 76 and 80.
Is this possible for him to have the right axis in stock . Shouldn't they have ordered the lens
how they put if they have lens for near and far together with inbetwwen
@@DoctorEyeHealth Thank you for the explanation!

Thank you!
In my os sphere my Doctor wrote p/o. What does that mean?

I'm a little confused at my prescription, Mine has a +1.00 value under the ADD section, but my lenses are just normal (without bifocal, varifocal progressive etc.). Why could it be like that?
Not a medical person. Struggling to understand in layman's terms how one exam produces glasses for bifocals. Having trouble with close up vision even after cataract surgery. I assumed the surgery lenses would have both adjustments for far and near vision. Any extra tweak's would be done with eye glasses. If one of your other videos can help please advise.
Just got my prescription for myopia , its (-1.25 )
So my prescription is -1 on both eyes and just had a visit and doctor told me that me left eye has a -0.5 cylinder axis 50. After i got these new glasses i cant see the same. Its just different with the cylinder lense, it is clearer on my left eye but objects are closer and looks a bit wider. So my question is are the glasses frames to blame for this or im not used to it yet or just need to have cylinder on both of my glasses?
I just cant wear these new glasses with cylinder on my left eye because are messing with my vision
Thank you!
In my prescription there's a V/A: 6/9 written. What's that? At first it was 6/6 but now 6/9
Many people refer to 'perfect' vision as '6/6' or '20/20' (US notation measured in feet), but this is not strictly true - these terms refer to 'average' vision.
