Bro!! Even when you know how to work on these, sometimes you run into an issue that you just can’t figure out. The next step is to listen to others. You saying the words “vacuum leak” made me look past the carb and realize that the gasket was ripped apart and sucked into the intake. I was over here doing everything I could to tune the carb. I noticed when the mini bike would go full throttle on choke. Thanks for the video!
Valve cover gasket was ripped on mine. Ripped from header pipe bracket made a tear. Spent hours on installing new carb, jets, other gaskets. Finally got it going now going to try tuning.

Just getting into these clone engines , currently have a predetor ghost for my sons go kart . I have a ton of experience building and tuning 2 strokes and seems a lot of the info is the same . I have noticed the trend of running short open header pipes and these silly vm carbs , out of curiosity I want to try using modern 4 stroke mx design on these as well as different carb types like a flat slide or a pj . Also I remember having a carb on my HD that hat a 3rd jet for high ram wot maybe that could be used or the basics of it implemented on one of these . Definitely fun little engines to tinker with .

I have a 140 main on my stage 2 224 and like you guys, it stutters at 1/4 throttle as well. Wide open is no problem but I've found the screw on bottom if screwed out about 3 screws idles and runs better
Try using the correct size screwdriver to get the jet out, idle to 1/4 throttle is controlled by the pilot, anything after is main, pilot flows constant after 1/4 throttle
He has it correct in the video. When the screw is on the intake side of the carb, it's an air screw. When on the manifold side, it's a fuel screw. On these carbs it's a fuel screw. Same thing on the stock carb. On the stock carb the screw is after the pilot jet in the circuit. It's a fuel screw.
@@dirty7739 I am at 3600 ft. The mikuni I bought didn’t have numbers on the jets. The bike would idle good but will die at 1/8 throttle, it didn’t make much of a difference if I moved the fuel screw from 0-4 turn out neither moving the C-clip up or down on the needle.

Id get rid of the foam filter. I love em until i had to take my carb apart and clean it and clean it and clean it because the filter started crumbling from inside so i couldnt see it u til my bike shut off lol.

Mine runs perfect but the plug looks new no matter what jets i put i went from the stock jet all the way up to a 140 main and the plug still looks new its a predator 212cc im going to spray some starting fluid around the intake today to make sure its not leaking also i am at sea level and saw a RUclips guy say he put a 130 jet at sea level and his was perfect i dont want to blow my engine 😢 im still not done with your video yet but i need help 😢😢
@@rockman49er If you're not getting a lot of popping out of the exhaust cause popping out of exhaust is a clear sign of Of a lean condition, you should be okay. If you had a vacuum leak, you would have tuning problems if it's running good. You shouldn't have a vacuum leak.
Not really popping returning to idle perfect and lots of power just no difference from from the plug when i changed the jets do you know the normal running temp of the predator 212cc Maybe i can check if its getting to hot and maybe go to a 145 or 150 jet still going to check for a leak later today after work knowing the right temp could help me thanks for the help brother @dirty7739
1977 Yamaha DT175 enduro came with a mikuni vm24 series carburetors from the factory. I know cause I have one on my non hemi ducar 212cc,& a spare parts carb,vm24.
Your Parts carburetor is a real Mikuni, you notice the slide is much larger, All Chinese made Mikuni carburetors have the small bodied carburetor, even if it says Mikuni. Example the one on your bike is Chinese and it can’t say Makoni because I have one. Anyway your camera is fine you’re just too close to it ha ha ha
Do you need to upgrade anything else on the engine before using this carb? I saw another video where they threw a rod because they didn't upgrade the billet rods to match this carb? Can someone please answer this question

I just installed a Mikuni on my minibike. 22mm I got it running took the governor out of my 212 tillotson but now, when I started it idles way too high!
I have this same carb on my predator 212 stock with only a governor delete. No matter how much I tune it , it always idles high and if I don't place my go kart on stands it'll take off on me. Can u suggest any ideas on what it might be ?
would you know the factory main jet size ? mines burning way to rich , have it on a 80cc, my plug is pretty wet and black, new engine only ran like 15 min tops
In my personal opinion if your turning 2 out your carbs to small especially if you plan on future modifications. You can keep jetting up but then air flow is bottlenecked from smaller carb body. Just my opinion

I have a grom cloan 125 with a 24 nibbie an I can’t get it to stop bogging from Quarter to full throttle. I have a 138 Idle Jet an I been upping the main jet thinking it was cause it wasn’t getting enough gas but my spark plug is really black . I started from a 115 an tried 120 an 125 while moving the needle clip as well . It’s still bogging . Any advice? I do have an after market Exhaust . Should I drop down to a much lower jet ? Like 100 or 110 ? Please help

@@dirty7739 hey man I’m getting super pissed off and irritated ever since I did the stupid vm22 mod the bike won’t start I put everything back to stock and it will not start I’ve don’t literally everything to get it to start I’ve changed oil spark plug cleaned carb I’ve done everything and I really wanna go for a nice ride but I can’t cuz the damn thing won’t start at this point last thing I can think of is cause the linkage is messed up from me taking it apart and stuff would that make it not start ?? I’m out of options for what to do

You have that backwards on tuning the idle air screw. Backing it out leans out the idle circuit. It's an air screw.

It depends on where you're at and your elevation the higher elevation the smaller the main you're gonna run

My pilot jet is a x36 and it just won’t idle at all unless with the bottom screw 4 full turns out do I need to change my pilot to a x20

I hooked a pulse pump to it because it wasn't getting gas at all, but now it dumps gas out the overflow now when I ride it, what dose that mean?

Ethanol is generally double the size of a regular jet so if you're running A120 guess you'd be like at 240 for mathenal.

No, @russle2496 you don't have to remove anything to run that carb. I have it on a governed 224 with a cam and arc flywheel and it runs great
I got a stock non hemi predator with governor removed and my bike has a 115 main jet stock pilot jet it bogs out full throttle
You're gonna need better Springs and a bigger jet.

Check your idle screw and physically look in the carburetor make sure the slide is going all the way to the bottom also check for vacuum leaks

I always thought the poping was from to much fuel and it popped from burning off in the exhaust???

115 sounds a little small I generally you want A130 depending on your elevation

All the tillison engines are made by ducar
So if she doesn't start does that mean she's too lean or too rich?
Check your spark plug if there's fuel on it you're too rich if otherwise it may be too lean

The throttle cable is hanging up on the top of it check to see if your slide is closed all the way it's a very common problem

Underneath your needle you don't have the lil plastic shim? You should...keeps needle from bouncing....tiny white plastic washer
