@@Black66 what could be my problem I got a 26mm carb with a 115 jet it turns on with choke but want to run 🏃♂️ without choke it idles and runs good
@high5565 😂 I just fixed this problem on my cc100x, all you have to do is adjust your jet turn it right or left until it's perfect for your bike and it will work, hope this helps😊

I have a 150cc bike that comes with a horrible carb and I have been wanting to get a mikuni carb for it but worried I won’t get it tuned right so I just waited. Came across your video and this is by far the most informative video out of all the ones I’ve been looking at lately, step by step breakdown on what to do. I got a little more trash than I like in my carb and after I tore it down , vat , u no the works ! I’m getting old and forget full , only thing I did wrong was the stainless washer was on the wrong side of the o ring

i damaged something. Runs about like factory ! But I’ve built a lot of performance engines and a few supercross bikes , this little Chinese carb has given me hell ! Lol to stubborn to spend 32$ on another one because I can’t find what the issue is, and think next time I will ! 😂 maybe the love of a challenge!!

@@Black66 I got another VM22 from Chi-na because I thought I messed up the float height and didn't want to play with it. Everything was different. Needle jet, main jet, and pilot jet. Even the fuel screw threads. I only got one short ride with the Nibbi flat slide, but it feels nice. I ordered 4 different carbs and there's a brand called "maple" and the quality is unreal for like $30. I stuck with the Nibbi because I had been wanting something real nice.

Yes, for sure! Jetting has a lot to do with engine mods, elevation, etc. At higher elevations, you generally have to run a smaller jet

Great video! I've been binge-watching the Road to Horsepower on Red Beard's Garage channel, and there's an episode where he dyno's 4 different carburetors, including this one. The gains are massive, which means the stock carb is woefully undersized & probably designed for maximum fuel economy. I'm very tempted to grab one of these chikuni vm22's & dial it in!

I followed this video on tuning for my carb and it got me a little better. Found out it was running lean. Took out the stock jet and installed a 110jet and not I can not get it to idle off choke at all… I’m at a loss

i thought it was something wrong with my new carb, for all of you new to engine work i removed my governor and learned how to work on the internals but not the head itself, came to find out my push rods came out from under the rockers so i had to reseat the pushrods. fired right up after

I bought mikuni vm30s for my motorcycle. I couldn’t for the life of me get them jetted. When I did the bike would stall. If It didn’t stall they would run lean. These stores ship these carbs out (ready to run) and I guarantee they are lean. Mostly all of them are lean. I’m really hesitant to get one for my mini bike after I gave up on the vm30s I had for the motorcycle. I put the stock carbs back on and they run great lol. I really don’t have luck with mikunis. They are easy to swap brass on but for me. They are hard to tune to get perfect. Just my opinion.

You should definitely do a carburetor size comparison and see if there’s a different in carb size for speed and 0-30 or if you have one already send me the link!

Great video! Thanks to your help I know why my Coleman hesitates when I throttle up. It's because it was too lean just like you said! I moved the needle clip down a slot and that did it. But it still pops so maybe I should buy a jet kit for my vm22 carb. I remember you saying in this video when it pops it's too lean. Thank you!

my 224 w/Mikuni doesnt like the 120 jets and larger...bogs down in top half of throttle and spark plug is black. Runs ok with the 100 jet but getting hesitation on first throttle. Will adjust the needle s you mention here

Putting the aftermarket one on my ssr 125. Would you change the jet right off the bat?! Elevation is about 3000 where I’m at.
If its a 125cc The stock jetting will probably be close.

Mine came w 95 and I have it maxed out ! It would speed rpm’s and increase but it drags so little I’m cool w it ! Just a guess I think I would gain a sec and rpm’s
I’m running in the 8k rpm’s now. I guess you can say it’s an Ol Man’s Governing cuz I know I’m doing too much now ! Lol

@Black66 well, I give up the start, idle was good and now it leaks gasoline as fast as i could pour it. Like a stuck float. I am too frustrated.
@@Black66 I am on number two. (Both new) and I order a different intake tube because of the angle.
Update, the fuel line leaking was the fault. I adjusted the float and needle valve, install hose clamps and boom back to running. Thank you again for the help

I pretty much have the same set up as you did in the video but i turned the idle screw the whole way out and it’s still at a crazy high idle and wants to take off

Been watching the channel for a while now and I love your videos. I recently got a "mikuni" from Amazon and my 224 will run with the choke on but shuts off when choke is off. I cleaned every jet and adjusted the slider many times but can't seem to get it running right. It has a 125 main jet right now and the only mods are race throttle, governor delete, and this carb and intake any ideas?

Do you pretty much run 22mm carbs on all you small engines?? I’ve notice almost all the mini bikes get a 22mm ; best carb you’ve found for this size motor??
The VM22 is one of the least expensive carbs for the performance you get. I use quite a few different carbs in the playlist on quite a few different engines. The Nibbi 24MM, 24MM Flatslide, genuine VM22, and PWK 28MM, PZ22 are some I've used on the channel.
