    I did nearly this EXACT build a few months ago! All Amazon parts, $175 budget. You should definitely do a decently big port job on the head. With an upjet on the carb, it'll be much faster at the top end. Also, if you want 5 mph or so, use a Nibbi 26mm. It worked for me. For (relatively) cheap too

    • @Black66
      @Black66  9 месяцев назад +8

      Yes, I have used the NIBBI in a few videos. Good carb!

      Would you say that the best top end mod would be changing out the sprocket?

    • @jessyhall9464
      @jessyhall9464 9 месяцев назад +4

      @@dunamonif you are a lightweight rider or have flat ground to drive on yes otherwise removing the governer os the best for top speed. I didn't want to do it either but these engines are so small and dont have a transmission so they really need the rpms to make top speed no matter what I did i couldn't break 60 mph even downhill with the ghost engine until i did a billey flywheel and rod and 26 lb valve springs. Edit: im 250 lbs though and live in the foothills of the rocky mtns

      @@jessyhall9464 Thank You for the reply! I'm 200 lbs. So far Sprocket change bumped me up the most MPH. Is changing the springs & flywheel a hard upgrade? I've done engine change and torque converter so far. You did 60 MPH?? Wow!

    That's awesome man! It's good to see that you decided to see what you coud get out of the 196 that came on the bike. Port the head and raise the compression, both inexpensive mods but time consuming. Great video once again. Maybe throw some more timing at that cast flywheel, I've heard from dover power and racersproquip that power falls off a cliff beyond 28* because the magnets are too weak. I don't know because I don't have a dyno but I would really like to know if that is correct or not. I've been splitting the difference at 30* because I'm unsure

    what difference do tires make? same size etc but with a road oriented tread rather than V treads? (and knowing what the pressures are)
    and a loose flappy jacket V well fitting clothing for the top speed would be interesting too. I'm sure it makes 1km/h difference on a moped (top speed of 60km/h or 36-37mph), but can't really measure it on something without a speedo.

    U can measure the crank first, zero the mic at that position then measure the rod, this will give you the difference with no math.

      I hear yeah good idea! I do the math in my head real quick as I'm going along.Usually takes a few seconds to see if its out of spec or not. A lot easier than plastiguage.

    now tune that juggernaut for higher stall and i bet that 0-30 really dips down. of course you know all this but i like to comment to keep that algorithm goin. I have one of ec carbs 228 strokers, ws gonna toss it on my trailmaster but i think i might just do a hip up of the 196. I'm tryin to find a "mini manco quester" 3 wheeler to put that 228 on and match my vanguard v twin full size manco quester. .

I missed out on one because I didn't know at the time they made a mini version of the quester, so i thought it was some home made sort of thing and passed it over since it was about 4 hrs away. now i'd drive 8 to find one soon. Maybe have it all done by trikefest in late june.

    When I did my head I had it off for a head gasket anyway.
    Not a big thing to do with it on, I am just paranoid and didn't want to pull the side cover just to find a lifter haha.

  • @greenman7yyy
    @greenman7yyy 5 месяцев назад

    If you have managed to improve the torque output, you can use much lighter springs in your front transmission pulley, to engage at a lower engine RPM; this is the best way to improve your bikes top speed...since you will be traveling faster with more room to accelerate before top engine RPM.
    Also, I expect that you will find it will perform even better with a little more slop on the valve to ash...at least 0.005" but even as much as 0.007". One tooth on your cam is worth 9° of advance...just sayin.
    NOT RE-JETTING IS CRIMINAL!! I am curious about the fuel consumption; with improved power and torque, you should be using achieving higher MPG.
    NEXT:
    • performance valve job
    • flow bench port and polish heads
    • port out the intake manifold
    • street tires... DEFINITELY street rubber over 35 mph
