I find the Dream SMP more fun, emotional, hype and enthralling than TV and I’m proud. (Wilbur, Ranboo, Dream, Tommy, Tubbo... fuck it, they’re all better than any TV cast)
i like to think that with "The symphony that my song sung, will remain unfinished, with a chapther not yet done..." is refeiring to both L'ManBurg AND Fundy. With Fundy being "Wilbur's Unfinished Symphony"...
*The day my son destroyed all of their dreams* - Techno *The day my son lost all of his dreams* - Tommy *The day my son let go of all his dreams* - Wilbur
@@nerdykid4127 No, it’s specifically Tommy, as the next verse is “but despite of that you are still a hero to me” which is reference to Techno’s speech about how Tommy wants to be a hero after L’Manberg was blown up by Wilbur and the famous line “if you want to be a hero Tommy, then die like one”
Philza: Peaceful and a good father who genuinely cares for his children Wilbur: The dirty crime boy and the middle brother with an unstable mental health Technoblade: The blood demanding, violent older brother Tommy: The younger brother with anger issues and revolts against anything not in his favour
“You’re still a hero to me”, that honestly hurts a bit tbh, like this song hits different in a way, I feel bad for Phil, someone in the comments pointed it out that the first day on the SMP he had to kill his son. I feel bad, this is such an amazing and touching song.
That awkward moment when your apparently the only person who got their mum into the dsmp animations and songs, she doesn't watch the roleplay itself but listens to my rants of the plot and the songs when I put them on and watches the animations with the lore and such, she's gonna get really sad when she hears about Wilbur and Phil ;-;
Oh. Oh this hurt. Phil’s telling us the story of how his family was ripped apart on November 16. He’s so alone now. His sons are divided. Right in the feels. Ow.
Yeah I thought the first part was about techno bc of the fireworks, and then the second part for Tommy bc of the hero part, the the last being for Wilbur and we all know why
“But in the end you should know. They held hands And bitterly smiled to the sun” At least not divided enough that they wouldn’t even talk to each other
@@Whitelockblackwell4499 Techno is still his favorite. I mean Techno literally gave him the compass towards his base and said I’m his latest stream that he will protect Philza with his life and in Techno’s words his only real friend in this world. Another thing is that they hung out way more than Fundy but I do think he is his second favorite.
Well this just put a heartbreaking bit of fanon in my head. Phil thinking up this sad lullaby after killing will and every night he would fall asleep by his grave singing it. That song would be one of the first things ghostbur would connect to that dragged him back to the living world. And it's why he still remembered phil killing him even though he was blocking bad memories. (Side note can we just all collectively wince over the fact that he said "I only remember when I was happy." And he remembers his own murder?)
@@kitofthewind ...You know I thought my heart was already broken but okay now it's *shattered.* I just imagine Phil processing everything that has happened to his sons: broken over the pain all of them had faced, how they have all hurt each other in some way or another through their actions... And as a father, you can't do much but be there for each of them and hope they will be alright in the end, because you can't protect your children from everything the world throws at them. Phil has been occasionally talking to his family throughout the Dream SMP plot, hearing about the horrors that are happening and the dark paths his sons are going down. Then finally, the one time when he can reach one of his sons - joins the server and confronts Wilbur face to face - he kills him, because Wilbur was pleading, *demanding,* for Phil to kill him. And the relief Wilbur must have felt, to have his father listen to him one last time, and to be released from the torment of his mind, the inevitable consequences of his actions, and the pain he inflicted on his friends and family. The anguish of a father who lost a son, and in a way, two others. Then like you said, at Wilbur's grave, he sings this lullaby as a way to say he's disappointed, he's proud, he's guilty, he's mourning, and most of all, he's sorry that he couldn't be there sooner.
The lines "They held hands and bitterly smiled to the sun" gives me Icarus and Daedalus vibes. Wilbur flew too high and Philza watched helplessly as his son fell
"Do you want to be a hero? Then die like one." -techno "My unfinished symphony!" -wilbur "I just wanted l'manburg." -tommy "Your my son!" -phill "It was never ment to be." -eret and wilbur. God damn does the dream smp beat you with a brick sometimes On a more happy note "Im a changed ma-" -techno " *stab with sword* " -tommyfrickinginit
I don't feel anything. And I don't think something is wrong. I am just: 'ok, not like i didn't see it coming' so , well, the only thing actually surprised me, that many people left pretty soon after they all killed... Glared jshlat to death, because it was obviously not the end. All i can say about this - Dre SMP is some weird kind of santa-barbara. It is partially scripted, and only thing why it differs from other books or stories - there are many storytellers. That's it. I DON'T dislike it, but... It really is weird.
@@beans27_ every verse from the song is dedicated to one of Phils sons, First is techno, by the mention of fireworks; Second verse is Tommy, bc he "lost his dreams" (Manburg destroyed) and he's still a Hero (reference to Techno's speach) to Phill; and the last one is Wilbur... where he let go of his dreams of not pressing the button and... well, I think you know what happens next.
Happy four years, everyone! I personally wasn't around until this last year, but seriously, it's actually amazing how big the community still is. Four years since Revolution Day. It was never meant to be!
oh my god. As someone who studies music and music theory, and also as someone who is currently studying poems and lyrics, i am astounded by the talent and the consideration taken into this. (also, i'm not a professional so you don't need to take my word for it but it's still amazing and i'm sure the pro's would agree). Each stanza not only describes each of their stories, but also in each verse repeats an ongoing theme. In Technoblade's verse, "the day my son destroyed all of their dreams" is so ironic considering how in every other verse his sons lost their dreams. It really shows how powerful Technoblade is when he "shot a firework to the sky" (nice reference there too) In Tommy's verse, it describes how Tommy "lost all of his dreams" but despite that Philza still considers him as a hero, referencing how Techno said "you want to become a hero tommy? then DIE LIKE ONE". Technoblade said that Tommy wasn't an actual hero. Wilbur has also said, "you'll never become president Tommy", although a different term, it really shows how the two people who were considered "corrupted" or "crazy" still spoke some truth from their experiences. In here, as mentioned before, it states, "lost all his dreams" in comparison to technoblade's "destroyed all of their dreams", and i love how you brought it back up again but switched the words according to each story. In Wilbur's verse, the biggest reference is "as he said to me, it was never meant to be." referencing to Eret and Wilbur's speech about Eret before pressing it. Another one i saw was again in relation to the 'dreams'. Wilbur's was "let go of all his dreams". He didn't care about it anymore and WILLINGLY let go of his dreams, referencing how he begged Philza to kill him. The choice of words is immaculate and very specific. Another point made by other people was how the chorus didn't repeat after Wilbur's verse. This might just be a music choice, since people like to end with a verse or a bridge, but it symbolizes how in the end, they might not have been united or concluded with a happy mood. In the chorus's, a big idea that many ppl picked up on was the 'the symphony that my son sung will remain unfinished" obviously quoting Wilbur (a musician), "L'manberg, my unfinished symphony". A smaller detail was the "with a chapter not yet closed", talking about how Wilbur's now a ghost, but also briefly referencing how Wilbur liked to collect the books on the server. Books? What's in a book? Chapters. Probably over analyzing that but hats off to Kanaya for adding it anyways. Another detail was picked up by PennDragon24 saying the below: "I wanted to add something, in regards to Wilbur and the verse "With a chapter not yet closed." Wilbur has a son, Fundy, right? The verse might also be referring to Fundy (the chapter that Wilbur was trying to see through, even after death). I don't know, that might be overanalyzing it." This is also a very good point! Fundy may have practically disowned Wilbur but Wilbur in his heart loved Fundy. Even after he died, he still does. And don't think i'll forget to very obvious use of repetition and the pun reference to the one and only Dré when talking about "lost all of his dreams" etc. the line "but in the end, you should know, they held hands, and bitterly smiled to the sun", is talking about how they as a family somehow ruined each other's dreams, and it's heartbreaking for Philza, their dad, to witness it all. They aren't happy, hence the word "bitterly", and even as a family, they were extremely broken up. Those are just the lyrics' meanings, but the music and the singing itself was PROFOUND. The melodies were absolutely perfect, emitting a mood of sadness and hopelessness but also a hint of accepting. The harmonies made it even better. Kanaya knew exactly what she was doing, and did it amazingly. I would also like to mention, the art is stunning, with the words, Philza's face unreadable because it's covered by his hat, the small flames and embers (the explosion ofc), and the detail in his torn clothing and the bloodied sword. according to someone in the replies they also noticed a great detail! : "If you didn't notice, Wilbur's body is on the ground behind phil" I love it. got rid of the bolded bc it looked messy so sorry!
Awesome analysis! I wanted to add something, in regards to Wilbur and the verse "With a chapter not yet closed." Wilbur has a son, Fundy, right? The verse might also be referring to Fundy (the chapter that Wilbur was trying to see through, even after death). I don't know, that might be overanalyzing it. I loved your connection to Wilbur's books!
Phil: joins server Everyone: As law you must murder someone Phil: Why? You guys didn't have to Everyone: *Yeah but then we can clickbait "Philza killed Wilbur"* Phil: God dammit
“Let me tell you a story, of November 16th. The day my son lost all of his dreams. But despite all that, you’re still a hero to me.” This line made me break omg
The way the instrumentals are almost like a children's lullaby, with the xylophone and simple chords (not at all a bad thing) gives the feeling of this being like Phil's last call to Wilbur. Phil lost his son by his own hands, Tommy's being exiled, and Techno had to run away from L'Manburg, Phil has lost all his children. The intrumentals give the idea of Phil singing a lullaby to his three sons when they were younger and trying to remember that time, when things were peaceful, when it was just him, Wilbur, Techno, and Tommy. Edit- Didn't even read the description before writing this but the music was just so powerful and these were my thoughts as I was listening as a major nerd for music. This is a fantastic song and big props to Kanaya for continuing the amazing theme songs
@Betsy I think the second verse refers to tommy as she says “the day my son lost all his dreams but your still a hero to me” and the third is Wilbur because of the “my son let go of all his dreams and said it was never meant to be” 0:15 is techno 1:41 is Tommy and 2:59 is Wilbur
I believe the first is Techno’s since he destroyed all of *their* dreams implying he destroyed the others dreams and also the line “he shot a firework In the sky”, the second being Tommy’s since he *lost* all of his dreams since he lost L’Manberg, and also the line “but you’re still a hero to me” basically saying he may have not won but he still is a hero, and the third being Wilbur’s since he *let go* of all his dreams since he y’know? blew it up and also the line “as he said to me it was never meant to be” since that was his line to Philza
i was watching this without headphones and my mom heard it and was like "what's that song? it sounds good, let me hear it, what's it called?" and i was like yes, thank you thank youuuu, and now she played it on repeat :3
This hurts even more now. From watching the SMP end and all the creators go their separate ways, to Wilbur… well you know. Maybe the thing that hurts the most is knowing the kid who watched the DSMP stayed behind when it ended and knowing I’m completely different now and won’t ever be the same again
Is it just me or does the fact that I’m a huge fan of sleepy bois inc make this hit harder than that baseball bat to my head? Nah? Oh wait you’ve never been hit with a baseball bat.. wait.. neither have I- UhM *retreat*
i really like how you phrased three diferent stories but its the same estructure, The day my son destroyed all of their dreams The day my son lost all of his dreams The day my son let go all of his dreams
Some nice symbolism here! 1st verse: "The day my son destroyed all their dreams." - Techno swept in to "destroy" the prospect of the new nation they'd just got back and worked so hard for. "With his head up high, shot a firework to the sky" - He feels no real shame or remorse for his actions, and made his statements loud and clear, for none of them to mishear. He said he was an anarchist and he proved it, boldly, proudly, loudly, irrefutably, and with destruction. But the chorus for Techno is interesting. He *_is_* alone in his actions, and further distanced himself with it. Any hope of peaceful relations between his whole family pretty much died when he did this act. They say time heals, but they're not likely to forget, so despite that being stated, he's still having to harbor the burden he started. "But in the end, you should know, they held hands and bitterly smiled to the sun" - Because Techno is accepting of this fate. Because he's aware of what he did, and willing to take it as it is, unsheltered and unhidden from the eye, exposed for the world to see. "The symphony that my son sung will remain unfinished, with a chapter yet closed" - Techno started a symphony of anarchy, a plea to stop government through force, and yet... it keeps coming back, despite his best efforts- thus remaining unfinished, with no conclusion. And Techno's still alive to try again- his chapter isn't closed. 2nd verse: "The day my son lost all his dreams" - Tommy lost a lot that day. He went into it thinking he would have to fight, tooth and nail, to evict Schlatt, only to have that usurped by a surrender and a heart attack. He also had the chance of becoming president, something he'd wanted, but turned it down for the only other aspiring goal- to get the discs back. Then the world came crumbling down when Techno and Wilbur fulfilled their goals. He lost a lot of his stuff, but most importantly, lost any semblance of respect he had for his two older brothers, and thinking that they were on his side- because their actions proved they weren't. "But despite all that, you're still a hero to me" - Despite the losses, though, he pushed on, and united with everyone to take a heroic stand against Techno's withers, to protect what was left of L'Manburg. But, to further add, as this is supposed to be told through Phil's eyes; he was the only one of the brothers that didn't let his own morality twist, and kept a somewhat firm head on his shoulder in the face of chaos. The only one of them that managed to conclude their intended goal in full that day- to reclaim it with his friends. So the chorus for Tommy also carries different connotations. New L'Manburg began, and so too did Tubbo's presidency- yet Tommy still feels on edge, thinking that this newfound peace isn't all it's cracked up to be. And despite Ghostbur coming around, and finding new friends in Ranboo and Ghostbur, he can't help but question whether Tubbo is still on his side, still his friend, and wondering if his hope for the old camaraderie they used to have still exists when Dream and the discs are still there. "But in the end, you should know they held hands and bitterly smiled to the sun." - Grudgingly accepting that what happened can't be taken back, and choosing to instead look forward to a new future with New L'Manburg despite his brothers' actions. "The symphony that my son sung will remain unfinished, with a chapter not yet closed" - The symphony Tommy started was one of friendship and freedom, one to say that nothing should be between friends, but to ultimately also reclaim the symbol and token of that friendship and freedom in the discs he gave to grant L'Manburg its country status. However, his goals and ambitions towards this effort are incredibly high, and it's going to be a monumental task to get the discs back- so it remains unfinished, with a chapter not yet closed (especially as he's now in exile). However, it's "not yet" closed since he's still alive and around to eventually conclude it. 3rd verse: "The day my son let go all of his dreams." - The day Wilbur essentially gave up on everything. Gave up on the ideal and notion that L'Manburg was theirs, that they could return to peace, that he could "be redeemed". Wilbur believed that, at this point, he was too far gone, and with what he'd planned to do to try and "conclude" his chapter, they'd never forgive him and want him around. "As he said to me, it was never meant to be." - Those dreams, those hopes, those aspirations, the notion that it'll all be okay one day, so long as they had each other- they were never meant to be, in Wilbur's eyes. The lack of chorus on Wilbur's speaks volumes, compared to the others. Because time can't heal Wilbur when he's dead. He's alone in death, the only ghost confirmed around (at the moment). His sad memories keep disappearing, and there's nothing to hope for as a ghost. He can't, in the end, hold hands and smile bitterly to the sun, because Ghostbur can't remember what happened. Wilbur's symphony, "My L'Manburg, my Unfinished Symphony, forever unfinished", can't be finished since he lacks the knowledge required to finish it. The song he sung can't be completed by him, because Ghostbur and Wilbur are two different individuals as long as Ghostbur is amnesiac. There is no chapter left to close for Wilbur, because *_Wilbur's(/Alivebur's)_* concluded when he died. And now it's just Ghostbur; the ignorant, amnesiac, not alive, innocent, unknowing shell and husk of what used to be there.
You really hit every point here and now it's even more pointing to Tommy's exile because as Techno said, "Good things don't happen to heroes, Tommy." So to have Phil still believe Tommy is a hero even after everything that's happened and after so many people turned against Tommy, it shows that he still saw him as his son and loved him and still saw him as the good person he had believed he was. And I am just so touched by everyone's acting in this and everyone's talent in creating so many beautiful things. Whether it is animatics or songs, they are all so unique.
while waiting for this to premiere i wrote a haiku, philza is our dad, hes very cool and poggers, he killed wilbur lol. ur welcome for blessing you with my awesome writing
Kanaya: *makes an absolute banger of a song yet again * Everyone else: *hyped and cheering on with support * Kanaya: e w , *why is the countdown like that?*
Over a year later I thought of a head canon to this song. Techno plays the violin bits, Tommy plays the xylophone parts and Phil is the singer. Wilbur joins in at the chorus, not knowing the weight of the song (since revivedbur wouldn't know what his family went through after his death)
Finally... we have the world download. It sure was an adventure when it was happening. Would I enjoy it again knowing what we know now? No. Was it special when it happened? Yes. It's a broken, blown up, decimated memory, a painful one, but fond nonetheless. A home you can never go back to, that was never ours to begin with, but ... still home.
Out of context, this sounds like a song written to mourn the loss of someone who died by suicide, and the fact that it can stand alone as such (and not merely be enjoyed by fans of the Dream SMP) just goes to show how well it was written in my opinion; very well done!
I remember the 16th so well. I guess we all do, those of us who have returned here today. Kanaya, you were right to give this song a “Nostalgic feel”, because it is working on me right now. Thank you for all that you did for this fandom.
it's the day part 2. here's a letter to the person i was a year ago; it will be okay. i promise you. and, you will let go of them no matter how much you think you wont
This song hits different. The way you tell the story through Philza's point of view, as if he's telling the story to the next generation of the DreamSmp. The Legend of L'manburg will live on forever. L'manburg, it was meant to be..
My headcanon is Philza eventually found another world, and told the events of the Dream SMP through songs including this one to the people there. Idk the idea of a secretly immortal and kind old man flying around telling tragic stories is just good.
I'd like to see fan art of philza and his sons getting along and the second panel would be set in the modern day where they all went their separate ways

@@timble2915 right after wilburs verse "the day my son let go all of his dreams" and because its a reference to blowing up lmanburg he said right after pressing the button "my unfinished symphony, forever unfinished" and thats basically why the chorus doesnt follow the verse
I did not have the balls to listen to this again cause i always tear up and get November 16th flashbacks and now im back for another round of the feels
I'm curious, are the lyrics meant to about Wil, Techno, and Tommy? My son destroyed: Techno My son lost: Tommy My son let go: Wil I wasn't sure if the "my son" lines were meant to be based on just Wil or if it was supposed to represent all three "characters"
Yes they are about Techno, Will, and Tommy because of the choice of words. Techno is the fist part because that part references the son who held his head up high while shooting fireworks into the sky. This is a reference to Techno attacking everyone after they made a government in front of him. The second part is a reference to Tommy. This one is slightly more vague compared to Techno and Wilbur, but when Phil says “the day my son lost all his dreams, but despite all that he is still a hero to me.” This is referencing Tommy lost everything the 16th (L’Manburg, Wilbur, Techno, and all hope he had for the old L’Manburg) Wilbur is referenced all throughout the song, the chorus being the most obvious talking about Wilbur’s unfinished symphony. But like his brothers, he has the final lyric ending the song with the same line he ended everything “It was never meant to be.” Sorry if this was too long, but I figured it would be the best way to explain the whole story that Phil is telling. And I love how in all the lyrics Phil doesn’t talk bad about any of his kids in a negative light. (Saying techno held his head up high, saying Tommy was still a hero, and saying Wilbur believed it was never meant to be, but this isn’t fully in a negative light) Hope this helps =)
@@angelgaming1987 i also feel like the "the day my son lost all his dreams, but despite all that he is still a hero to me.” is because techno said "u wanna be a hero tommy THEN DIE LIKE ONE"
Probably what the story of the song about: "Let me tell you a story of November 16th The day my son destroyed all of their dreams With his head up high, shot a firework to the sky"- Story of technoblade, with his expectation of no government and his rocket launcher in the red festival. The destroyer of people's dream to make l'manberg perfect by withers. "Let me tell you a story of November 16th The day my son lost all of his dreams But despite all that, you're still a hero to me"- Tommyinit, with technoblade talk about "Die like a hero", he lost his dreams cause of wilbur betrayal and technoblade. "Let me tell you a story of November 16th The day my son let go all of his dreams As he said to me, it was never meant to be "- Wilbur Soot, his last phrase before letting his dreams dissapear by exploding l'manberg were "It was never meant to be".

Wilbur your verse You ready
I love that this sounds like a lullaby... The most heartbroken kind of lullaby. Really fits the role of a father.
Beautiful.
@@kitofthewind ...You know I thought my heart was already broken but okay now it's *shattered.*
I just imagine Phil processing everything that has happened to his sons: broken over the pain all of them had faced, how they have all hurt each other in some way or another through their actions...
Maybe its being sung to Fundy

It really shows how powerful Technoblade is when he "shot a firework to the sky" (nice reference there too)
In Tommy's verse, it describes how Tommy "lost all of his dreams" but despite that Philza still considers him as a hero, referencing how Techno said "you want to become a hero tommy? then DIE LIKE ONE".
Another detail was picked up by PennDragon24 saying the below:
"I wanted to add something, in regards to Wilbur and the verse "With a chapter not yet closed." Wilbur has a son, Fundy, right? The verse might also be referring to Fundy (the chapter that Wilbur was trying to see through, even after death). I don't know, that might be overanalyzing it."
This is also a very good point!
: "If you didn't notice, Wilbur's body is on the ground behind phil"
I love it.
got rid of the bolded bc it looked messy so sorry!
Damn... You done all your research
Wow this is some good in depth analysis
Awesome analysis! I wanted to add something, in regards to Wilbur and the verse "With a chapter not yet closed." Wilbur has a son, Fundy, right? The verse might also be referring to Fundy (the chapter that Wilbur was trying to see through, even after death). I don't know, that might be overanalyzing it. I loved your connection to Wilbur's books!

THE WAY YOU PUT ALL THREE TOMMY TECHNO AND WILBUR INTO SEPERATE VERSES AND JUST-

@Betsy tommy is the second verse, wilbur is the third.
I believe the first is Techno’s since he destroyed all of *their* dreams implying he destroyed the others dreams and also the line “he shot a firework In the sky”, the second being Tommy’s since he *lost* all of his dreams since he lost L’Manberg, and also the line “but you’re still a hero to me” basically saying he may have not won but he still is a hero, and the third being Wilbur’s since he *let go* of all his dreams since he y’know? blew it up and also the line “as he said to me it was never meant to be” since that was his line to Philza

i really like how you phrased three diferent stories but its the same estructure,
The day my son destroyed all of their dreams
The day my son lost all of his dreams
The day my son let go all of his dreams
Fitting for the Dream server I guess.
Dream SMP - a place where dreams love and die, a place where men lie and cry.
my son destroyed all of their dreams: Technoblade
my son lost all of his dreams: Tommy
my son let go all of his dreams: Wilbur
sad huh.
Some nice symbolism here!
1st verse: "The day my son destroyed all their dreams."
- Techno swept in to "destroy" the prospect of the new nation they'd just got back and worked so hard for.
"With his head up high, shot a firework to the sky"
- He feels no real shame or remorse for his actions, and made his statements loud and clear, for none of them to mishear.
"But in the end, you should know, they held hands and bitterly smiled to the sun"
- Because Techno is accepting of this fate. Because he's aware of what he did, and willing to take it as it is, unsheltered and unhidden from the eye, exposed for the world to see.
"The symphony that my son sung will remain unfinished, with a chapter yet closed"
- Techno started a symphony of anarchy, a plea to stop government through force, and yet... it keeps coming back, despite his best efforts- thus remaining unfinished, with no conclusion. And Techno's still alive to try again- his chapter isn't closed.
2nd verse: "The day my son lost all his dreams"
- Tommy lost a lot that day.
"But despite all that, you're still a hero to me"
- Despite the losses, though, he pushed on, and united with everyone to take a heroic stand against Techno's withers, to protect what was left of L'Manburg.
"But in the end, you should know they held hands and bitterly smiled to the sun."
- Grudgingly accepting that what happened can't be taken back, and choosing to instead look forward to a new future with New L'Manburg despite his brothers' actions.
"The symphony that my son sung will remain unfinished, with a chapter not yet closed"
- The symphony Tommy started was one of friendship and freedom, one to say that nothing should be between friends, but to ultimately also reclaim the symbol and token of that friendship and freedom in the discs he gave to grant L'Manburg its country status. However, his goals and ambitions towards this effort are incredibly high, and it's going to be a monumental task to get the discs back- so it remains unfinished, with a chapter not yet closed (especially as he's now in exile). However, it's "not yet" closed since he's still alive and around to eventually conclude it.
3rd verse: "The day my son let go all of his dreams."
- The day Wilbur essentially gave up on everything. Gave up on the ideal and notion that L'Manburg was theirs, that they could return to peace, that he could "be redeemed". Wilbur believed that, at this point, he was too far gone, and with what he'd planned to do to try and "conclude" his chapter, they'd never forgive him and want him around.
"As he said to me, it was never meant to be."
- Those dreams, those hopes, those aspirations, the notion that it'll all be okay one day, so long as they had each other- they were never meant to be, in Wilbur's eyes.
Holy shit this a lot and wow
This is amazing, well thought out, and has excellent word choice! a total shame it doesn't have more likes

oh i love this whole comment
You really hit every point here and now it's even more pointing to Tommy's exile because as Techno said, "Good things don't happen to heroes, Tommy." So to have Phil still believe Tommy is a hero even after everything that's happened and after so many people turned against Tommy, it shows that he still saw him as his son and loved him and still saw him as the good person he had believed he was. And I am just so touched by everyone's acting in this and everyone's talent in creating so many beautiful things. Whether it is animatics or songs, they are all so unique.

Ya know, you could fill the L’Manhole with all the tears we’ve cried

One year later… brings back memories
I'm curious, are the lyrics meant to about Wil, Techno, and Tommy?
My son destroyed: Techno
My son lost: Tommy
My son let go: Wil
I wasn't sure if the "my son" lines were meant to be based on just Wil or if it was supposed to represent all three "characters"
This one is slightly more vague compared to Techno and Wilbur, but when Phil says “the day my son lost all his dreams, but despite all that he is still a hero to me.” This is referencing Tommy lost everything the 16th (L’Manburg, Wilbur, Techno, and all hope he had for the old L’Manburg)
Wilbur is referenced all throughout the song, the chorus being the most obvious talking about Wilbur’s unfinished symphony. But like his brothers, he has the final lyric ending the song with the same line he ended everything “It was never meant to be.”
Sorry if this was too long, but I figured it would be the best way to explain the whole story that Phil is telling. And I love how in all the lyrics Phil doesn’t talk bad about any of his kids in a negative light. (Saying techno held his head up high, saying Tommy was still a hero, and saying Wilbur believed it was never meant to be, but this isn’t fully in a negative light) Hope this helps =)
@@angelgaming1987 spot on
@@angelgaming1987 i also feel like the "the day my son lost all his dreams, but despite all that he is still a hero to me.” is because techno said "u wanna be a hero tommy THEN DIE LIKE ONE"
@@dragongodcolin9670 and how tommy literally lost everything after being exiled
@@Lucky0Loki that was already said lol
Probably what the story of the song about:
"Let me tell you a story of November 16th
The day my son destroyed all of their dreams
With his head up high, shot a firework to the sky"- Story of technoblade, with his expectation of no government and his rocket launcher in the red festival. The destroyer of people's dream to make l'manberg perfect by withers.
"Let me tell you a story of November 16th
The day my son lost all of his dreams
But despite all that, you're still a hero to me"- Tommyinit, with technoblade talk about "Die like a hero", he lost his dreams cause of wilbur betrayal and technoblade.
"Let me tell you a story of November 16th
The day my son let go all of his dreams
As he said to me, it was never meant to be
"- Wilbur Soot, his last phrase before letting his dreams dissapear by exploding l'manberg were "It was never meant to be".
poor phil
one son is dead at his own hands after blowing up L'manburg
one son is exiled at the hands of tubbo his best friend
one son tried to go into retirement and got forced out of it
It makes me feel like Philza is telling this to Fundy - I honestly don't know. Gives me that kinda vibe. And also, AMAZING WORK ONCE AGAIN! Your voice is outstanding, it makes me wanna be able to sing like you haha. This honestly hit me so good, my eyes were watering for a long time. I think I felt a tear come down when I was writing this. Keep up the good work, Kanaya!
i think he would be saying this to ghostbur, tbh
holy shit.. two years
Still one of the most beautiful songs I've ever heard
Especially the bit about them all holding hands and smiling at the sun. The bittersweetness is just dripping from the music in that verse.
i imagine philza singing this to ghostbur, traing to reach out to him, hoping that his son is still there, somwhere...
1 year anniversary of the event!
I can't believe it's been a full year.... I still feel like it was yesterday that I was crying over wills deaths and the fall of l'manburg and now it's been a full year and I just want to thank you for all the good memories, thank you dsmp ❤️💔
I read the lyrics before the premier and this is gonna be pog..
