Phil’s “what are you doing?” Sent shivers down my spine. This was absolutely stunning I have never seen such an amazing representation of this before. You should feel such pride in yourself after this and every other animatic you’ve done.

Philza talked about that line on stream it was to buy time lol cause he couldn't join the server (the try restarting your game error) so said that while he was re opening minecraft to join the server. Suppose it was a happy accident since it made one of the coolest lines in this animatic.

Two years later and I still believe this is the best animation yet. The way all the characters and dialogue were portrayed is just absolutely bone-chilling. I especially love the way Wilbur was portrayed, the way his eyes were were just *LEGENDARY*

Three years ago, I opened up youtube and the first thing that was recommended to me was this animatic as the #1 trending video. By then I've already heard countless talks of the infamous Dream and his SMP, but I didn't show any interest since I moved on from minecraft and it seemed strange compared the 2010s community. However as a lover of animation I can't help but wonder what kind of animated content based on a minecraft sever can be so good to be the top trending video at the time. So I clicked on the video from curiosity, and thus marked the day I joined the Dream SMP community.
When I finished this animation, I was absolutely blown out of the water by shock. What the actual heck just happened? Because what I just watched was genuinely one of the best animations I've seen with beautiful cinematography and perfectly captured the emotions of the characters and portrayed it in a way where the audience feels it too. I instantly loved Wilbur's character and scenes at 1:47 and 2:43 was so beautifully done that it always gave me chills every time I watch it. As a person who has never watched or know about anything in the Dream SMP, this animation single handedly made me hooked. I suddenly wanted to know everything about the story behind all of the events shown that led to every scene shown in the animation since I was a sucker for dramatic scripted roleplays back then lol. Dream SMP's wonderful art community also appealed to me. I always found it strange how a minecraft server of chaotic dudes can have such a rich art community, but I suppose Sad-ist's creativity lit the spark and inspired many other artists. It was a great time where creators joined together to create amazing works, and everyone had fun.
Unfortunately all great things must come to an end sooner or later. Some ends with a bang, but others slowly die out. Sadly Dream SMP was one of the things that slowly died out since everyone just simply lost interest. Ever since the climax of the story (Tommy's disc saga) most things that happened after felt like the creators were dragging the plot only for the sake of content, degrading the quality of the plot. Personally for me nothing was interesting since Wilbur's revival, so I stopped paying attention along with many others. Lockdown was also ending so everyone plus the creators were slowly getting adjusted to real life again. The tragic news of Technoblade's death was also another major reason. It isn't anyone's fault, just a sad but natural occurrence. I felt glad watching Wilbur pursuing music by starting his own band and seeing other creators moving on too. Though it may not have ended in a great way, Dream SMP flourished in a once glorious time on the internet.
This is me years later revisiting Sad-ist's animations as a nostalgia trip. As I was watching I remembered many fond memories from the past, so I decided to write this comment as a tribute. I must admit that this may seem overly dramatic or sentimental of something that sounds childish to an outsider, but you can't deny the fair amount of impact this caused in a number of people's lives. It connected lots of people together during lockdown, and everyone's just simply having dumb fun. Most people in the community are really chill, excluding the uh, rather concerning part of the fandom that is known for cringe. I also admit that though they're embarrassing to the general community, people of all kinds just exists in every popular fandom. Anyway, the SMP gave many underrated creators a chance to shine. Sad-ist especially inspired me so much with her talent for creativity. With all of that said, thank you for reading! It may be too long, but this is my tribute to the Dream SMP. Thank you all for everything.

Pfff I did, I was always with techno and his ideas since he joined. He was labled a traitor and yet he was transparent with what he wanted to do and it was to destroy l'manburg. When he summoned 2 withers he was acting like he always did. He has also been betrayed twice the first being after they take back l'manburg when they created a new government as he realized that he was just used for his gear and his pvp skills, the second was recent from yesterdays stream all of it will loop around to techno spawning withers.

Why is nobody talking about the scenes with Phil, like he never looks this cool in animatics and I was crying when Wilbur pressed the button and Phil pulled him into a hug while crying, and then like 10 seconds later Phil was laying on the ground crying while hugging Wilburs body, which had a sword through it... the block men are internally hurting me again...

Every few months I come back to these videos and rewatch them all. This is peak nostalgia. SAD-ist made the DreamSMP feel important and special and exciting to me, these animations literally brought me into the fandom. She pulled the story together in an extremely compelling way, I could watch hours of this.
Time flies, things change, and so do people. I miss the suspense, the era, the way things were, the feeling. That part of my life is way behind me now, but I will never forget nor look down on it.
