    Great, balanced review Chris. We are lucky enough to fly Business on 6hr+ journeys, because we’re retired and have some money. Like you, we are very grateful and feel no entitlement. BA still has lots of catching up to do in terms of plane comfort. They are saved so many times by the cabin teams, who always have that skewed British sense of humour & a personality that, I hope, won’t ever be lost in corporate training 🤞

    Tolles video. Sie haben sehr viel gegessen! I think BA business class is so much better than their old 2-4-2/2-3-2 arrangements: aisle access, more comfortable seat, better storage, the food can be very good. The FAs are always excellent as you said. I'm not really fussed about the door. Charging for choosing business class seat is outrageous but I've heard they do it as it creates another perk for Silver/Gold members (as a Silver, soon to be Gold, I do love not having to pay for this directly!). Other airlines with camera views that I've been on - Etihad, Emirates, I think Qatar. Subscribed!

    I've flown BA premium cabins quite a bit in the last three years, including that product from London to Austin, and I think you're absolutely right about it. BA's catering is very hit-or-miss these days, particularly in eurobiz - but like you I have found the crews pretty much uniformly outstanding. And yes - charging for seat selection in business is an outrage. Keep up the great work.

      Yes, you have to look out for flights with an Airbus A350-1000. They're the ones which exclusively fly with this new seat. Only very few B777 have them installed.
      You can also see it on the seat map. When there's a 1-2-1 configuration, you can expect the new cabin

      Where did I moan. I'm not one of those other RUclipsrs who do that constantly. On the contrary. I talk just honest about the advantages and the disadvantages. I say that the door might give a claustrophobic feeling to those who feel that way easily - which I don't. I say that there's quite good space for the feet, I like the food as it's very fresh even though it's not special ingredients. I say that I like the drink selection.
      I always pay myself for my tickets, with my cash or with my miles - therefore I can say honestly what I think about an airline. I just really want to find the best possible impression of the real experience, which should never be black or white if it's really honest - it's always a mix. I'm the very end comes my very personal feeling about it, and that's that I myself, after trying to show everything objectively as it is, would like to fly BA again, despite the flaws I saw.

    to be one of the better business class products in my opinion. I look forward to watching your other reviews. As an “antipodean” my first choice for business class long haul is always Cathay Pacific and Singapore Airlines, who consistently exceed expectations in comfort and service.

      Hi Judith! Thank you for your great feedback! You're right that CX and SQ offer a great product. Service, I must say, wasn't as constantly good on Singapore Airlines in my recent flights. But that's already a matter of the moment. It's still a very good airline. I made quote a bunch of reports about both airlines. Maybe you wanna check them out too...?
      BA is far from that standard, on the other hand, if you fly within Europe, or as here between Europe and the Near East, there's no Asian carrier, so we have to compare within that competition. And there's so much to no done..... 🙈

    Thanks for a great review! Regarding the LHR T4 Qatar lounge access, did you mean that although the BA flight departs from T5, but you could go through terminal internal connection from T5 to T4 by BA boarding pass and access the QR lounge?
    Therefore, check-in & receive boarding pass at T5, go through security then connection bus from T5 to T4, after lounge, connection bus and security again from T4 to T5? Thank you. :)

      I fly with BA out of T5 a lot, their lounges are really poor, even the First Wing Gold lounge, I know T3 has good Cathay and Qantas lounges, but rarely fly out of T3, and never T4 so far, would like to use my BA Gold status to experience the T3 and T4 One World lounges.
      Just couple follow-up questions, if you don’t mind:
      1) Did you have to scan boarding pass when enter T4, assume BA T5 departure boarding pass wouldn’t be a big problem for T4 “connection” entry and Qatar lounge access? As you’ve done it.
      2) Any hassles when you return back to T5 from T4?

    Thank you - another great, informative and entertaining review. I can't think why anyone would pay to travel on BA's business class offering - ok if corporate travel and possibly using points (if expiring as in your case). Personally, I think the seat, while admittedly better than its predecessor, is not particularly comfortable (I wouldn't want to do long haul in it!) and the F&B offering is ok (at best). Again, BA is way behind the Middle East and many Far East carriers. I'd also place them behind Air France and even TAP.. Charging for Wi-Fi is expected in business but to charge to reserve seats is just poor.

    Nice video.
    There is a degree of logic behind the seat fees (not that I fully agree with it). The rationale is that most people who book early are paying fares that are on the lower end of the spectrum. If you allow these people to select seats for free, the people who book later and typically pay more, have a poor selection of seats. If I was to book late and had paid 3 to 4 times the cost of the cheapest tickets I would be pretty annoyed to only be left with a middle seat in front of the toilets or next to the galley.
    Since they offer all Oneworld Sapphire and Emerald status passengers free seat selection from the time of booking, it also acts as an incentive to become a loyal passenger (although it does admittedly leave a sour taste until you get status).

    • @TravelSingFlyEnglishEdition
      @TravelSingFlyEnglishEdition  8 месяцев назад +2

      Thank you for the feedback. Always good to have several points of view on one thing 😊
      However, even if you book late at a very high fee (like 1750 GBP got a 5-hour flight), you still need to pay for seat selection

    Hi, we’ve just had our flights cancelled in First because they changed the plane to one that only has new business class. Very frustrating of them to do this so close to the flight date! Called BA and they have managed to get us some business suite seats. Disappointed we will miss the Concorde room though and will look to make a compensation claim as no refund on points either.
    How did you manage to get into the Qatar lounge? We have a connecting flight in Doha which is Qatar first 👍🙏

    • @TravelSingFlyEnglishEdition
      @TravelSingFlyEnglishEdition  8 месяцев назад

      Hi! That's really frustrating being downgraded on a flight you're looking forward to - and then without a refund in Avios? Absolute No-Go! You need to fight for a refund. On a paid ticket, if you get downgraded, you get a pretty big amount of money - it's even stated in the European flight rights bill that guarantees a refund for full cancelations and long delays. So they should actually give you money and refund some points.
      The other thing: If your Qatar First Class flight originated from Doha, you simply have access to the Al Safwa Lounge. Check out my dedicated report on that lounge here in the channel

      There's 2 lounges in T4 - I went to the premium lounge (the by far better one) that's for OW customers with a premium-class ticket. However it never actually happens that a British Airways passenger gets there as BA doesn't depart from T4. It took them also a quick call to a supervisor to check if I, standing there with a friendly smile and an international business-class ticket, had access, and I did. Some European airlines such as Lufthansa treat their Europe-Tel Aviv routes as if they are flights within Europe and use A320s or other single aisle aircraft on the route with the Euro-style Business Class (Economy class seats with middle seat blocked off) as opposed to long haul business class flights with proper lie flat seats.
