She is absolutely without a doubt one of the best, most original, beautiful singers ever! To this day, people still don't know who she is! It saddens me to death. No one will ever live up to her, she is a legend!
I had the great fortune of seeing her open up for David Bowie on the glass spider tour in anahiem california, way back in the day...one of the best times of my life! Years later i got to meet her after seeing her with The Creatures, she was so nice and stopped to talk to everyone :)
Not saame xperience .in belfast .to me she was a stuck up middle class art student type .love early stuff. But both times i saw her in ulster hall Belfast .she just struck me as a prima donna.our music is better god bless N.ireland punk
@@robbiebanks9182 lol considering she threw an air conditioner through a window in Japan hence a one year ban on performing in that country you could say she has her moments but I've known people who have met her and say she was very friendly. All performers have their moments.
Took a while for me to realise this was a Beatles song years and years ago. "Well you may be a lover, but you ain't no fuckin' dancer! So look out". You're always at the top Siouxsie. I saw this live.......
You're exactly right, it's about the punk-rock sensibility, she's not trying out for American Idol! Besides, Siouxsie is widely regarded as one of the greatest female rock artists of the past quarter-century, so BULLOCKS to the critics!
Every time I think she's lost the key, she's really taking the melody into a new shading of the original, all the while maintaining the intensity and the overall feel. And doing it live! It's fucking brilliant!
She was a true gift from the gods. We will never hear music like this in our life time. Young people have no idea what they missed in the 80's the greatest music of a generation.
i saw her live performing this song in Vienna - Austria. Think it was 1989. This was the final song. Perfect. Best band every by far. Musically and lyrically just incomparable. I miss the good 80's where finding and discovering great music was not easy, but when you find it, you will listen to it for the rest of your life. I still listen to SATB until now.
Brings back memories of living in the UK, and - as a huge Beatles fan - relishing the moment that Siouxsie got to No. 1 with her cover of 'Dear Prudence', and telling a friend that when she taunted me with 'this is what Siouxsie has done'. My friend did not realize that 'Dear Prudence' was a Beatles' song. Loved that moment. Like this cover - although I prefer 'Dear Prudence'.
i’ve always been confused why a lot of the comments say she’s off key, she sounds fine plus it’s the banshees interpretation of the song, wouldn’t it be boring if she copied the beatles note by note?
She is one of those remarkable May 27th Geminis. the breadth of her talent, creativity and boundless energy shall not find an end in this life. Her passion and dedication to her work and her fans has always been an inspiration to me.
Although I'm a great fan of U2 I prefer this cover of "Helter Skelter." In fact, this is one of my favorite covers of all time - along with "All Along the Watchtower" by Jimi Hendrix, "Season of the Witch" by Vanilla Fudge, "Satisfaction" by Devo, and "A Little Help from My Friends" by Joe Cocker. I like the originals of all of them but these covers bring a whole new dimension.
+John D.Reno Fully agree. It's the best cover of any song I've heard. Also, a sensational live performance that's up there with Mercury, Pink Floyd etc.
+Damien Clifford If you like off-the-wall covers, you may get a kick out of the Bobs rendition of "Helter Skelter." As I said before, Siouxsie's is the gold standard but sometimes I just like to listen to something weird.
One of the best long lived goth bands ever. Siouxsie and her style will live on for generations No women could ever clone Siouxsie like so many did to Deborah Harry. Both women pushed for females and never got and the true recognition for it. Long before women were popular in the music world. Siouxsie never sold out. The music gothic and nothing more. Long live Siouxsie!!!!!!
glsingle "the singer", as you refer to her, is Siouxsie, the most important and influential female artist in the history of rock/pop music. And the sexiest woman I've ever seen.
Never mind God save the queen! Thank god siouxsie gave her fans over 20 years while many women have left the music world siouxsie still rocks! Thank You our generation will never forget what you gave to music. Some people will never understand but they did not grow up in the 80's
Just started listening to Siouxsie recently, why oh why, this is so good... Especially Helter Skelter. Have played it way over 100 times past two weeks I guess... Next song in this set is Eve White Eve Black... You should listen that one to, it has one of the most chilling screams in it... I'm overwhelmed each time I hear it. One hell of a rock chick, and looking good as well.
The Beatles changed music, they changed the whole musical landscape...how on EARTH can u deny that? Honetly, hand on heart....you believe that they "rewrote a few folk songs " ? I really have a hard time believeing that :-)
I know very little about Siouxsie, except that she's almost as old as I am... :) I was getting ready to post a negative comment and then I read your remarks and had to rethink what I was going to say. THanks. THis is a pretty cool video.
I wasborn in the sixties as it goes tosspot and am old enough to remember the Beatles and how middle of the road they were. When you learn a bit about music....get back to me.
HI, I'm agree with the comments said before, I'm think this is one of the best version of this song... I like the drums and the powerful voice of Siouxie Sioux
Definitely. I feel privileged to have been around when punk hit the scene. Saw the Banshees twice in the late 70's and bunked off school the next day because my ears were ringing.
Siouxsie scared the rock world with this song and will not ever be forgotten for generations this will always be one her trade mark history making classic's not to be forgotten ever! Where would punk rock be today had it not been for these trendsetters back in the 70's
Probably what The Beatles would've sounded like if they were able to do this in concert. But Paul wouldn't have been able to hit that note like Siouxsie did at the end. But still would've been nice to see them do it in concerts. Oh well life goes on.
@JoesRamone Hmmm ... it's kinda easy to forget how much Robert Smith shredded simply as a guitar player. Anyway - glad you posted, becase at first I was all, "Mike Score played with the Banshees!?"
Attended her live show at the Orpheum in Boston MA in 87, front row on the right . With my friend Arthur, for my birthday 🥳🎂 best birthday present for the record 🥳🗣️💯❤️🩹🫡👁️👁️♾️🐦⬛

My two cents - lovin' this video! Great energy in the song, and a great performance, Siouxsie is amazing! I always thought the Beatles were a tad dull :P
Half the fun of YT videos is reading the comments :) This is an interesting interpretation, no doubt. I never liked this song when the Beatles did it (yes, I'm that old). And I wasn't thrilled with this version the first time I heard it. But it's grown on me with repetition. I *do* suspect she had a cold the day this was recorded; she sounds a bit congested. Then again, perhaps that's why she chose to perform this song that day.
This is by far the best cover version of Helter Skelter..
Abso, utely soiuxsie rocks puunk queen for alltime

I got to see her twice. I thank the god'
The banshees I mean, saw her plenty with the creatures
I saw the Banshees a few times back in the day, she was incredible - a huge stage presence !
It is very good but i like motley crue
Motley crews claim to fame was Shout at the devil, a goddamn masterpiece....that song is just too badass for words, much like this.
I am a huge Beatles fan, but this is the way to do a cover. Don't try to sound like the original, make it your own. Fabulous! LOVE IT!!
God this is amazing, perfect distortion, perfect noise, perfect voice, perfect woman.
She is absolutely without a doubt one of the best, most original, beautiful singers ever!
To this day, people still don't know who she is! It saddens me to death. No one will ever live up to her, she is a legend!
But WE know who she is, and that's all that matters!!

Alexander Kovaleski Quite possibly one of the earliest punk songs.
Great job! She sings this so well, too.
She Carnt dance .
