One of my biggest gripes with recent platform fighters is that their sound design is just underwhelming, and if you couple that with bad visual design (say hit/attack particles and effects), you get games that are just not that satisfying to play. This game is very well designed in both of those aspects, so I'm really digging it.
I have to say I’ve been watching you for a few years now and I really like how much better you’ve gotten at editing, I used to watch you cus you had clean af gameplay and cringe when you put one of about 12 different meme edits in every 10 seconds now I can enjoy the few memes and the nice zoom ins and other subtle edits. You definitely come a long way and haven’t lost your clean af game play ether
So for hitting Zetter's Up-B with Down-Air, you do have to wait for his hitbox to go away, but if you're close enough you can actually hit thru it Also Fleet has an advantage with her grab pummels because she actually does get quite a bit off her regular pummel as well as her special pummel. I tend to use regular pummel most of the time since Back throw can apply the time bomb if u have it activated. Fun fact, if u have Neutral-B active and then get the special pummel, you can get two stacks of the time bomb if u just wait a bit to back throw
Here's how to get more arrow charges: it's either grabbing your opponent and doing a normal pummel while picking it up or the special get up while hitting them then picking em up
@@legendarylitening Rivals 1 was all about the parries so having a very similar mechanic but also removes your opponent's projectiles is crazy. no more stage control!
@@RushWheeler Like It doesn't last that long and most characters aren't really hurt by not using their projeciles for a few seconds. Feels kind of useless to be but idk
I'm new to this game and platform fighters in general, holy the combos you pull off are extremely sick, game is still new so I'm waiting for a guide that explains mechanics and combos/how to follow up on attacks like you did :')
Ult is too good for me to drop, so now I have 2 platform fighters. I bet the rivals comp scene will take over though, this game is made for the competitive community
Ult is a fun game, i don’t understand R2 players constantly feeling the need to shit on it instead of just enjoying both; one casually and one competitively
Giving Megaman infinite range on his dair would already be wild, but it's also a consistent spike all the way through and it's on the character with a peach float 😅 like literally what can you do?
I play Loxo, but also only play FFA. He's super fun. Almost pulled a comeback against a 3 stock against another Loxo, but he clipped my big toe with one of his attacks. :( I did, however, absolutely destroy a Fleet with a fully, magma charged smash, and only because an enemy Clairen grabbed her.
This game looks genuinely intriguing and like it could be one of the only true competitors to Smash! I really hope it comes to consoles at some point; especially the Switch, because I don't really play PC games often at this point in time. If this game comes to Switch, I'll definitely have to give it a go.

I’m scared for how the Fleet develops and if it compares to your Ultimate Link I messed with Maypel a bit during the beta and was having a lot of fun with them
I really feel like people counterpick with Clairen because they read on Twitter that she’s a broken baby character and not because they actually have an easier time with her
And the irony is that most people claiming she is a baby character are just Zetterburn/Maypul/Ranno spammers. Especially Zetter, his fire mechanic is literally Clairen’s mechanic but for crayon eaters that don’t know what spacing is.
I'm not sure if he mentioned something to make you all about it, but it's probably a GameCube Controller through a Nintendo GC to USB adapter, or a similar Mayflash adapter. If you think you need a parry button for Rivals, you just hit Shield + Special, and the macro activates parry.
Had the same experience, not sure if the choice actually does anything or if it's just for show... Fortunately things levelled out a bit after getting ground into the dirt during the placement matches and the game finally accepted that I'm bad and plan to stay that way.
@Botplay01 Well my opponents weren't unranked and were all in gold, each higher ELO than the last but all around 1000, although I don't doubt most of them moved up further than that based on what I was up against. So unless that's the threshold for what the game counts as Beginner then I'm not sure it could be blamed on smurfing.
If I ever get this game, (which depends on if it comes to console or not) I'm playing Lox just cuz' I love elephants and he also has an axe, so I can make that "Can I axe u a question?" pun...unless a giraffe comes to Rivals. I love giraffes even more.
My issue with Rivals so far is that I have played about a dozen matches casually so far, and the amount of people who Tea Bag has been wild! Like gameplay wise, I love it and I am already excited to practice up, but for the love of god people stop bagging!
@Sillintor maybe it's because I am playing in casual arenas, or just unlucky in my match-ups. It's a super fun game and I am having a blast! I just figured it would be awhile longer before people did.
yep. It's already in the roadmap, the devs talked about it few days ago. The bad news is that they said it's gonna be about 2 years from now. So yeah ... maybe get a Steam Deck(?) 😅😅 sry man
Find a nice used gaming laptop on OfferUp or Craigslist! Something like an Acer Nitro 5 or anything Lenovo Legion or Asus G15 would handle this game just fine. It's worth saving up 300 to 700 for it. I got one (Asus ROG Strix G15 AMD, 300fps) for 1300 and would never go back.
Ngl it sucks if you don't have the money and can't buy the game since i much prefer the combo game of Rivals 2, as opposed to Rivals 1 because grabs are in the game now, therefore, more moves which means more combos. If you could keep the demo but not the online, it'd be way better for once you do buy the game. Not like i can't buy the game.
@LunarDarkness983 Compared to other platform fighting games (like Smash) i think it has a lot of potential to be pretty unique with its characters movesets. And, comparing the pricing, RoA2 is much cheaper than Smash, and every new character or item doesn't require actual money, so it is really cheap when you compare the two together. (Although, there is no Workshop mode yet.)
I'm enjoying it. But it doesn't feel as responsive as ultimate. I don't know if there's no buffering but I try to jump after maybe an up throw and it just eats my input. Tech tracing with a regular jab attack or down till I will almost always dash attack. Hitting down till while running will always dash attack. Unless you stop running first then down till and you have to time it perfectly
Oh all those dash attack "issues" are definitely a learning curve that's there by design. The game limits you in your running state, so you need to either cancel it or use other ways to move altogether depending on what you're trying to do in your situation. Then, about the up throw, it could just be that the one you're using has a ton of frame lag when compared to the average up throw in ultimate.
There is buffer, but not as much as Ult which often doesn't require any timing at all. It isn't eating your input; you are trying to act before you are actionable so nothing is happening. It's way easier and has way more buffer than Melee and p+, but it doesn't give it to you for free. That said, it is definitely much more responsive than Ult imo because Ult has significantly more built in lag. Your character moves much more quickly after an input is made in rivals 2
game looked nice til i saw it was a copy and paste of smash bros. Worst figthing game ever is smash bros. 90% of the fight is just trying to throw ppl off. even kept the stupid bubble shield that goes with no particular character. just a trash way to make a fighting game. Hope you have fun tho.
