    I love the Armada games. So easy to mod. If you mod them the right way, they look like they were built yesterday, not 24 years ago. Really well done. Retro Badger is obviously the coolest Trek gamer for playing the OGs.

      Absolutely! The Armada series are some of my favorite and most replayable rts's, when I was a kid it was either this or Age of Empires or StarCraft 1, I always came back to Armada though.

      I got a cool star wars and b5 mod for armada 1 and 2 still play them from time to time. Such a fun game, especially armada 1

      @@rachagainstthemachine. I tried a Star Wars mod. There are several. I finally found one that didn't crash, but I don't know, it just didn't do it for me. I love both Star Trek and Star Wars, so I thought this mod would be right up my alley. It wasn't. Maybe I'm just not a crossover kind of guy. Anyway, my favorite thing is finding old FASA ships that actually work in the game. I also reskin textures to ultra high res, including the weapon sprites. My modded Armada looks great, runs smoothly and has several of my favorite FASA ships. But I'm not even close to finished. Modding is a labor of love. You have to want it. Cheers and happy gaming.

    I started replaying this game thanks to you 😊 the wormholes are actually a nice shortcut if you don't wanna fight your way through the turrets

    11:20 Reminder that your trading station can effectively turn units of a resource you have into a resource you need. Say, you have plenty of metal and you need dilithium. You can spend metal to get dilithium (or spend metal for latinum, and then latinum for dilithium, it’s been a while).
    You usually don’t want to do this because value gets lost in the trading, but it’s good to remember as a backup (or if the mission has an infinite dilithium moon).

    21:34 Carefully telling your fleet to guard that station. That includes your Steamrunners, and they can’t really fire safely in friendly territory. I always recommend having them as a separate fleet so you don’t give them orders they’re not geared for.
    I also recommend keeping them at green alert so they only fire when you tell them to.

    27:36 One thing I would do to on escort fleets is I’d take a few protector ships (in this case, Akiras), have the ships I want to protect guard them (so, order the trading ships to guard the Akiras), and then get the rest of my armed ships to guard the ships to be protected. It’s slow going, since you’re limited to impulse and slow impulse at that, but it keeps your fragile ships in the middle, rather than at the head with all of the guarding ships following behind.

    Another tip for this game. If you assign a number to a shipyard,any ships built in that shipyard will be automatically assigned to that fleet, eg if you assign the number 2 to a shipyard, all ships built will enter fleet 2.
    This way when you lose ships from your fleet, if there any other ships that have been built and still waiting at the construction rally point, they will fly and catch up with the rest of that fleet to reinforce it, and keep it at 16 ships in that fleet

    19:00 Correct. IIRC, red on the map is for the tetryon nebulae. Purple is the gravity well of any planet or black hole. You can’t warp there but you can fly through at impulse no problem. If you tell a ship to warp somewhere and a gravity well is in the way, they tend to try going around, so you might have to babysit them to prevent them from going somewhere stupid.

    12:55 The cluster of yellow/purple nebulae to your south. Dilithium freighters can mine them (and I think they just go straight to the trading station).

      They can mine the latinum direct from the latinum nebulae. But they bring it to the starbase. Useful for starfleet, necessary for klingons...

  • @jetnova16
    @jetnova16 28 дней назад

    I’ve always personally placed a Starbase in the center of the passage along with a few Akira-class ships (fleet of 16) in an orbital pattern around the base to protect it and turrets at its perimeter and use it as a halfway point outpost making it possible to see Borg in the passage and protect the cargo ships.
    ****
    You can actually attack the Ferengi ships stealing your ships and destroy them saving your ships as their being stolen and can transport aboard them as well releasing the Ferengi Tractor Beam.

    3:20 Those Starfleet cargo ships from "Klingon Academy" seem a lot better. They're supposedly roughly as long as a Galaxy-class starship.

    Pretty sure it's pronounced "Von" Armstrong
    And those yellow nebulas just "south" of your base are latinum. You can gather it with a regular mining ship.
    As far as the admiral seeming to be on the Premonition bridge, thats because the Promonition bridge is basically the Defiant bridge, just dark, blurry, and with yellow lights.

    Should someone tell Badger that there is a shortcut wormhole for his cargo ships to avoid the borg?

  • @balrighty3523

    24:33 I think your trading ships just get 500 units of something off of a random list. I’d be very interested to see if, when you start doing the Klingon levels, you can get a Klingon trading ship to end up with Tribbles as an export.

    • @RetroBadgerGaming
      @RetroBadgerGaming  26 дней назад

      That would be funny. I wonder how many Klingon songs there are about the tribbles?
