  • Elite Archery just released their new target bow the Elite Verdict. This resulted in a massive amount of interest from Mathews shooters in the bow.
    We asked the shooters why they would want to change from Mathews and what they liked about the Elite bows.

    I switched to Elite in 2017 when I got a NEW Impulse 31 for free. After a failed limb in 2021 and finding out they aren’t making any other 80lb limbs for my bow anymore…4 years. Mathews support/parts for all bows they have ever made forever.

    I love my Enkore, but I picked a Mathews V3x for my New Zealand trip this past May. It just felt held better and felt better on shot, shooting better groups out to 80 yards. I guess the elite adjustability is better for the shooters over seas where you can’t get to shop and try different mods.

    I bought the Victory X around the time you first reviewed it, and I loved it so much I bought a matte black one to have as my hunting/3d rig. There are fancier bows on the market but at the time it was under $900 I think and you'll pry that bow out of my cold, dead hands. Could not recommend it enough.

    I'm starting to get the feeling that I will be owning an Elite in the future. ❤️ my Prime bows but all the problems that u mentioned with being bow shop friendly exists with the Prime. New strings every other year is only as good as the shop that u deal with & Prime supporting that shop. I would rather get to the point where my Prime's have brand new strings & cables & selling them off. I feel that the Elite grips r pretty close to the Prime grips minus the Nano NASA technology. The feel of the grip for consistent shooting is 1st & foremost like it should be with everyone.

    I don't mean this to come off the wrong way because im just genuinely curious. What are they saying is hard about the trx series? Changing strings on a trx is pretty standard nothing crazy with them ( the v3 and v3x on the other hand is bit more involved with the yokes), and shimming the cams is probably the most simple setup i've personally worked on because it just swaping the entire top hat spacer out for different sets, instead of stacking washers like my wifes athens.

  • @WM-jy9dz
    @WM-jy9dz Год назад

    it's not only the costs for the modules - mostly you have to opt also for a top-hat kit for successful paper tuning when you change the modules, that's another AU$ 110 you have to cash out (Hoyt sells the shimming kit for approx. AU$ 30) ...and then there are the quality issues with the limbs and bearings for longer DLs (longer DL --> bow has to cope with more energy) Matthews has (Traverse, 3 set of limbs, bearings replacements I don't count anymore....)....

    Mathews`s income scheme is probably similar to a Cinema. Ticket/Bow is not the most expensive on the market but they're cashing on popcorn/accessories. If I sum up all the mods I bought and replacement grip because stock one is terrible then I could easily have Invicta/Citation and some spare change. Everything is super expensive, and then there might even be a problem when your specific mod is not in stock. I already ranted about Mathews in similar places and I am not suprised some people also lost their patience with them. Feels like a win. Top hat master kit to tune cam lean is... :(
    But the bow itself is still good, shoots great. Not a single problem with it. But man it could be so much better. Little things ruins it for me.

    Shooting a bullet without tuning is luck. Any bow can do it if the stars align. Just so happens that they did here.
    Shimming cams is a ridiculous proposition. You practically need to tear and rebuild a bow. Most people just don't know how and don't have the tools to do it.
    Ultimately, tuning should be a very tiny fraction of the bows life. How it performs after its been tuned is arguably more important than how easy it is to tune... I'd focus on that, and if both end up the same, I'd say use "tunability" as a tie breaker... But that shouldn't be a primary concern for a serious archer who'll spend most of the time shooting, not tuning.

      I agree except when you start to get cam lean occasionally the set technology would be awesome on my prime black 9, I have set up numerous bows probably out of 25 bows 3or 4 have shot bulletholes out of box if I set centre shot perfect, but yeah I figured you can only do so much with a bow and the rest is on you but I still end up taking apart my bows if I don't like anything I've got bows were the limb deflection was wrong but yeah it sucks if you have to strip down a new bow but this set tech makes you not have to shim or limb swap but as you said it frigen sucks or is hard without the tools.

    Mathews needs to catch up to every other bow company and put rotating mods then they would be maybe a top contenders in my eyes, I actually think mathew are a solid bow but I won't buy another one, my elite remedy is a sweet bow but that verdict looks awesome 1% letoff change, I didn't think they could do much more to their bows with quarter inch increments, 70 -90% letoff, set tech, cable rollers that actually move and cable stops and limbstops.

When elite has 70-90% adjustment nearly every other bow on the market has adjustable letoff, mathews are a awesome bow it's just even with their mods you'll see a big difference in speed on the same bow a 25inch compared to 30inch no matter what bow it is, plus I'm about comfort over speed.
