  • Hey guys, thank you again for all your support! Really appreciate it! today I shot the Phase 4 29 against the Omnia from Elite, both are great shooting bows! Love shooting both against eachother! The Mathews Doesnt Suck lol
    I know I give the mathews a hard time, but honestly its a shooter and the only thing I don't like about it is the grip, easy fix.

    I just got done shooting both phase 4’s, the Omnia, Hoyt VTM, bowtech, and a Darton. To be honest they’re all so damn good I had a hard time deciding. I went with the phase 4 29. It’s my first new bow in years so the little differences don’t matter as much to me. If you get a new bow every year they probably come into play a little more.

    I literally just did a similar comparison last night. I’m looking at new bows and had narrowed to down to the Elite Omnia, the Mathew’s Phase 4 33, and the PSE Fortis (the latter at the recommendation of my local shop). For me, the Elite felt better on all fronts when compared to the Mathews. The balance and stability difference for me was night and day. I felt like I had to wrestle the Mathews to keep it vertical, while the Elite just went there and stayed there.

    Like others have said a slightly better comparison would be the phase 4 33. Its a little slower at 336 ibo. Also should pull the grip off and put side plates on. I do agree that the mathews bows are top heavy. Other than that i love my phase 4. All comes down to the person and what they feel is comfortable. Great review!

    I love the look of that Elite Omnia. I would have to say that if I were in the Market for a new bow, I would definitely try it out, along with the phase4, and some others. I shoot a Mathews VXR, and have had it since brand new. I shot it with the original grip on it for a solid year. I didn’t seem to dislike it as much as you. I, however, put the side plates on it and noticed quite an upgrade on the grip. I would definitely recommend anyone shooting a later model Mathews bow to do the same. Great video as usual!

    I shot both sizes of phase 4 and the omnia several times and chose the omnia. I think it just had a slight edge on everything other than nosie but i though both bows were great personally. I will say I've been shooting anywhere from 30 to 100 arrows a day with my omnia and after getting everything dialed in just right i couldn't be happier. It's been great.

    Great comparison/review. I thought the mathews was going to do the crocodile death roll. I shot a couple some years ago and didn't like the grip then. Elite is a great bow with all the adjustments.

  • @tsi-rocket4144
    @tsi-rocket4144 Год назад +2

    Mathew's grip isn't preferred, strings suck(zebra stings were toast inside of 500 arrows), the bows are top heavy, the draw cycle has a double hump and a dump into the valley, you need modules to adjust draw length(bought 2 for 60$ each), and have to buy tophats to tune(60$ which I had to do). But you get bridge lock, pic mount for the rest, switch weight, and a bow that is slightly quieter than the omnia. Omnia has a better draw, better valley, better balance, favored grip, much better strings(up around 3400 arrows without any issues and cam timing is still dead on), easy tunability(shot bullet holes within the first 2 arrows @6' with the recommended center shot and still shoot bullet holes so for me the SET tuning system hasn't mattered yet), 1/4" draw adjustments, and letoff adjustments. But you don't get any fancy ways to mount a sight or rest with elite and you don't get rubber between the limbs. It depends on preference and how you use your bow. I shoot a lot and have no desire to own a mathew's that cost more to setup with their fancy accessories, garbage strings, expensive draw modules, and outdated and expensive tuning setup. If you shoot to sight in your bow, hunt, and then shelf it until next season than you will more than likely never see the issues I have with mathew's. Mathew's makes a good shooting bow I will not argue that, to me it comes down to heavy use and the expense of shooting a mathew's. I can also go on about hoyt's warranty, 9wk lead time to get parts and horrible tuning experience(2x hoyt carbon bows) but we will save that for another day. I won't say the omnia is the best bow as that comes down to personal preference but it has been stellar in reliability with high use which fits my needs.

    I’m gonna be honest I never really understood why people dislike a bow entirely just because of its grip when you’re not actually gripping the bow. As long as the back of the grip that’s facing, you is completely flat then it doesn’t really matter. It’s like they say Hoyts have the best grip and when I grab a Hoyt bow, that’s true but you’re not completely gripping the boat like that so I don’t really understand why people hate it so much.

    • @HaxenHunt
      @HaxenHunt  Год назад +1

      It’s not a flat grip, that’s why. When you’re able to tell the difference of how a grip changes the way the bow performs you’ll understand. Nothing wrong with the bow… just the grip🤷🏼‍♂️

    You're doing some of if not the best bow reviews on youtube imo. No one else talks about timing, grip comfort, draw comfort, string angle, and chronos arrows up to 520gr to show efficiency. Those are all serious things to consider with all new bows. I do not like the matthews grip being a long time PSE fan but that can be remedied. .

I’m learning A LOT of channels that are employees at shops are pulled in one direction or the other due to shop owners filtering out their honest opinions. I want to change that and give honest reviews and not “only positive” stuff so shops can sell bows. I’ve been called out by one of the biggest shops in the country for hurting feelings about the phase 4😅

    Just some constructive criticism. I don’t think you can provide an accurate comparison between any bows that are not set to your length. Each bow will obviously feel not as good if it’s not set up correctly. It would just help to standardize your testing I think. Other than that, I think you nailed it! I had it down to these two, and the VTM and ended up going with the hoyt this year.

      @@HaxenHunt, Hope you are well. I do not own a Mathew’s, I shoot a 65 #, 40% let off American Archer wooden compound bow I bought new in the early 80s. I shot it bare bow for may years. I shoot it out to 30 yards. I put some cheap sights on it and changed from shooting fingers to a release probably around around 10 years ago. At that time I started to look at the newer compound bows and was amazed of the accuracy improvements with these bows which prompted me to start to look at them. In reality most of the bows were out of my price range. However, now I have enough money to purchase a bow this year, which is how I came across your review. I enjoy your review style and your explanation of how it feels while you shoot it. Anyway, thank you for your reviews.

The SR350 was nice but I wasnt a fan of the grip....couldnt get comfortable. The Hoyt was good all around....as was the Omen but the ease of tuning turned me away.....I dont want to run to the shop every time I need to adjust something. The V3X didnt blow me away, nor did the Phase 4 ( it was really quiet) that grip though......c'mon Mathews..........The hold, lack of shock/vib, tunability and just overall feel of the Omnia won me over.

    I'll any bow over a current generation Mathews any day. My criteria for choosing a bow is simplicity of tuning and changing strings. Mathews bows are garbage in method of tuning (removing cams, and paying extra for tophats when they should come with every bow). Mathews floating yokes are also stupid, because you can twist out cam lean with static yokes (instead of changing tophats). I like PSE's yoke spacer design where they use static yokes separated by the spacer that has the two yoke legs criss-cross, and you can still yoke tune it somewhat. I'll take the Omnia's tri-track binary cam design all day, every day!!!
    I'm shoot a 2018 Quest Thrive at 26.5" drawlength, that I bought new last September for $440, from my dealer who couldn't get rid of the last 3 of them. This bow with the 82X aluminum riser is remarkably quiet and dead in the hand after the shot. It also holds steady as a rock and shoots lights-out after I tuned the hell out of it.

    Mathews grips are worst of all bows. Swap to side plates or the UV grip, and it is better. Now you are spending another $50-100. The Omnia won bow of the year for a reason, but it has its own faults. You have to know what you are doing setting the Omnia up. If not, the cables rub the cams. I have owned multiple Mathews over the years. This is the first time owning something other than the Mathews, and I won't be going back. Mathews has become a "HIGH END CUSTOMER" bow.
