Archery Desert Mule deer - When patience pays off - 80 yard shot on film

Nothing better than an Archery Desert Mule deer hunt, a DIY OTC tag on public land.
This hunt was something I had on my to do list for a long time and finally got the chance and time to head south to give it a shot. My good buddy Weston with ‪@riseandshed‬ and I made plans to try and hit the rut for some big mule deer bucks.
Once we secured our destination, we found out that the unit we wanted to hunt had met its quota so we had to then find a new unit that was still open to hunting for mule deer. My buddy Chase that lives where we were headed, let me know of a good spot he had one buck hes been trying to kill.
We made the 15 hour drive and headed to a random pin on the map for camp.
The terrain in the desert is unforgiving and a complete spike fest. We ended up camping in a small spot that we could get our canvas cutters rolled out at.
I learned a lot on this hunt and really had to test my mental fortitude to stay positive and have patience on one of the longest stalks I've done. 2.5 hours to move 35 yards was painful but it was worth it.

80 yards in that wind is impressive! Archery desert is tough, but there's no need to scream and shout. You never know who is hunting around you, and how much would you hate it if you were scouting, packing in, hiking, stalking, and hunting archery and someone close to you starts screaming on the mountain side. To me, the best part of doing what I went there to do is seeing the world around it not change much. Constructive criticism.
