One of the most unsettling parts of the book was Trashcan Man and The Kid in that motel room, no bull had to put the book down and walk to the dairy to try and get that visual out of my head. I wonder if that scene would make it into Josh Boones series adaptation, I think its important as it illustrates how much anguish Trashy goes through in service of Randall Flagg.

The Stand is soo good! Tom Cullen is probably my favorite character in that story with Kojak a close second. Both unlikely heroes. Also love any part of the book having to do with Trashcan Man or Randall Flagg. Such an epic story.

I first read The Stand in 1994 around the time the mini series came out. I was eleven years old and had already read Needful Things, Cujo and IT in that order. Obviously I should not have been reading King at that age which was of course the appeal. Absolutely brilliant novel, the characters have stuck with me for years. Who didn't love the Trashcan Man? I've read everything King has ever written and think The Stand is one of his best works.

Kind of ironic that the advertisement that played before this video was for PureFlix, a wholesome family friendly/faith based version of Netflix. Maybe it sensed the good vs evil dialogue. lol
The Stand is epic. I have only read it once and that was when I was alot younger. I recently found the Uncut version at a yard sale, so I need to give it a go again.

The Dark Tower comics are the only Stephen King comics I'd seen/found out about. I really want to find The Stand comics now!

I'm working up to re-reading the dark tower... but I sort of want to re-read the Stand too... Love the stand so much. I'm totally going to check out that Stand omnibus--didn't know there was a comic series for it.

me and my girlfriend just finished the 49 hour audiobook of the extended, uncut original version of the stand, and as the third time 'reading' it in the last decade, it's so worth it. absolutely read it again friend

I really want to read the dark tower series. Would it be recommended to read the stand first because of Flagg or does it not matter?

Kiefer Grundman-Brady I’m currently reading the Dark Tower series and haven’t read The Stand but I am still enjoying it incredibly! Don’t be discouraged by the first book. The Gunslinger is great but it is VERY different than the rest of the books. I read the first 3 novels just this last week. I couldn’t put them down.

Hey Jaime, love your vids on King. Your enthusiasm is infectious.................Reading the Stand - the version in paperback you held up. 250 pgs in and it's just 'ok' for me so far....but will keep reading. So far, The Shining is my fav of his 'classics' Decided to go back and read his books in order of published release. Have read 10 or more, but always out of order to get the shared universe connections prev.

The stand is one of my all time favorite king books. However some years after I have read this book I came across another book written by Robert McCammon call Swan song. This is my all time favorite book not writing by Stephen King. As I'm reading it I was thinking to myself this is how Richard Bachman would have written the stand. If you've never heard of it or read it I very highly and strongly suggested. Not many people I have talked to read this book but I read it a few times and every Stephen King fan I'm sure which you resemblance from the Richard Bachman Writing style. If you ever get a chance to read that book I would love to hear your insights On comparing Swan song to the stand and if you think it's very Richard Bachman like!

      Swansong was incredible.
Haven't read it in years and I've looked online ( Amazon ) to buy it again but it ain't cheap ;)

I read it, didn't care for it (I'm not a nihilist, or even a quantum physics type).
I really wanted to give it a go, but after 500 pages or so, it still took me nowhere, so I reluctantly put it down. Sigh...

Harold is my favorite character as well. Not sure if it's just that Stephen King made him so sympathetic or if it's my love for the underdog. Maybe it's just real life intruding into the story and the "hero" not getting the girl, or the "hero" becoming bitter after life has dealt him a terrible disappointment. The wounding of so many good guys and their evil/disappointing/realistic bad end...it was kinda like a George R R Martin novel in some ways. I liked Stu of course but after Harold "lost the girl" the book kinda upset me. One of the most painful second lead syndrome and shipping wars I ever had to read.

I love everything about the stand even the Boulder politics and Hand of God. I’d say the characters I loved were Trashcan Man, Harold, Glenn Batterman (I might’ve misspelled his name), Larry Underwood and of course, Randall Flagg, to me he’s King’s version of Loki from Norse myths or marvel basically because he’s basically like a godlike being, but a henchmen and inferior to much stronger and bigger gods as you see in the dark tower universe. He’s a threat among smaller people, but as you can tell from the ending he’s just a false messiah. I love this book more than It, It can be a bit wordy for me, but this is what King describes as the Lord of the Rings in contemporary America, and I can see the parallels a little

Dude as always you and your crew rocks big time. LOVE the book and the mini series. Would like to see you do the same to the nightmares and dreamscapes show. Should they make a part two and use some of the stories from Just after sunset?.
