    Hi guys
I've just finished Nos4r2. And I thoroughly enjoyed it. Yes, it has its flaws, but what book doesn't?! Joe Hill certainly has a different writing style to his father. He does cliffhanger chapter endings better than Mr King Sr, and at a quicker pace. He also really creeped me out with a few scenes.
Is it his masterpiece? No, I don't think so. I believe his best is yet to come. But this is a well above average novel from an extremely talented author. The apple doesn't fall far from the tree.
    Starting on "Sleeping beauties" tomorrow.
Keep up the good work guys
Kind regards from across the pond
    Richard.

Just finished this one and no issues with it. A phenomenonal read. So good! Joe Hill's narrative voice is astonishing in this one and Charlie Manx is an iconic villain. Hopefully they'll do an awesome job with him in the series. Merry Christmas!

I just finished reading it and I loved it! I was also disappointed that we didn't get to see much of Christmasland, I thought there was going to be a part only dedicated to it! But overall I felt really invested in the story and thought the ideas were very well developed! I can't wait to read Wraith and to see the TV show!!

I absolutely loved this book. For sure one of my favorite vampire books. This is the book that made me fall in love with Joe Hill as much as I am with Sai King. I have read this the 1st time I wanna say in 2013 or 2014 and just re read it with you guys for your Christmas special. Sadly I have yet to get the comics but that is the next comic book on my list for purchase!

I love this book. It's in my top-3 books of all time with his father's IT and Peter Straub's GHOST STORY. I've read it three times now and every time was a complete pleasure!

I just finished this book. I found it to be disappointing, to say the least. As someone who's so far only ever read Sci-Fi/Fantasy novels, this was my first experience with horror literature, so I honestly don't have anything else in the genre to compare it to. But if this is an example of the best that the genre has to offer, then I will probably refrain from visiting the horror section in the future.
The beginning was okay, but by the end it seems like even the author had gotten bored and kind of just gave up. The final confrontation between protagonist and antagonist was seriously weak, hardly worth the 600 page buildup, and I was surprised by the way that the ANFO was used to bring down the bad guy - but not in a good way.
Even after ~700 pages it didn't feel like any of the characters really had any depth, and the author resorts to a lot of repetitive descriptions of them, almost denying them from growing into anything more than those descriptions.
The author even attempts to deploy a clever "Chekhov's gun" reference, though fails to employ it in his actual writing, leaving me to question the actual meaning behind his character's acknowledgement of a joke. Overall, I definitely expected more, but I also know that disappointment from unmet expectations is disappointment wrought on myself. But I certainly won't be picking this one up again in the future.

Fair, but judging an entire genre of fiction based on one single example seems folley.

@@TheHorrorShowChannel It would be indeed, hence why I acknowledged that this is the only book I've read from the genre and therefore I have nothing else to compare it to, and also that my disappointment is more due to my expectations going in, than anything else. I'm not shitting on all of horror just because I don't like this book.
That said, this book appears in almost every list of "top books" within the genre, I just hope that this isn't actually the case, else some shitting might actually be well deserved. I do also understand that those lists are purely subjective, so I know that what someone else thinks is top tier in any genre doesn't necessarily reflect the reality.
I'm a huge horror film fan, so this was just a massively disappointing introduction to the supposed "best to offer" of horror books.
Having read S. King's Dark Tower Series, I have high hopes that his horror works will offer some redemption for this poor pick to kick off my experience with the genre. IT and Pet Sematary are on the shelf awaiting to be read very soon. I'd welcome any other suggestions you might have to offer.
