Looking at the Black Friday Home Depot Ad in the video, you guys have a different deal then what we had in the Northeast. You guys are in California..thus you guys have the mandatory Battery back up. The deal we had in the Northeast was for either a Chamberlain or Genie 1/2 HP belt drive for $99.00. I actually bought the Genie one originally and returned it for the Chamberlain. The Chamberlain had a battery back up vs the Genie did not. Chamberlain was the model B2202T, I don’t recall the Genie model.
Hey I have an off topic question! You seem to know your products very well, are you familiar with the liftmaster mh5011? I’ve installed a bunch of them and love them, never have issues. That being said, I find their chain falls run stiff/slow when operating by hand, is this something you’ve come across? I’ve installed bigger commercial liftmasters before also and noticed the same thing.
Excellent question! I have seen them up close and they function very efficiently. Yet we're not really in the commercial door space. Still. I have heard that these motors offered a good experience. Yet, I do hear that the new Maxim series from liftmaster is really impressive. What's your experience with that motor?
Is it me or all these models kinda, blah? I was checking out the models from both manufacturers and nothing really excited me. 😢 I do miss the B series. That was an exciting time. Thinking, man what next.
@sosgds B970 was a fan favorite for sure. Man, I sold hundreds of B550. Not only did it come with two remotes and a keypad the price you could not beat for a belt drive!
I have both a Genie and a Chamberlain opener. I would never buy a Genie opener. My Genie opener is nothing but trouble. The light does not come on when the door has been opened for a while, and I walk into the garage the light does not come on. I have the MyQ on both the Chamberlain and the Genie. The Chamberlain works flawlessly but not the Genie. MyQ worked for a while but now the Genie opener response to MyQ is random. The in-car remote for the Genie only works when you hold the button down for several seconds. My opinion the Genie is not a good opener. I plan on replacing the Genie with a Chamberlain in the near future.

The B970 was a great operator. I really liked the built in LED model B1381.

Ah yes. The 2022 was a horrible. I do feel your pain. But the newer Genie openers are much better.
