I have a Whirlpool Duet dryer. We isolated the source of brown stains to the dryer. This occurs when drying white t-shirts only. After watching this video, I suspect that due to the t-shirts being thin, they are getting snagged and staining. The characteristic of the stain is a thin 1-2inch stain which reflects the material being pinched, possible between the drum and felt. Out come the tools...keep you posted. From 3:15 to 3:21, in the upper left of the drier, there is a vent grate. The grate is black with either residue or rust. What is that part, the grate, called, and How can it be replaced? I believe that our drier, a Kenmore HE2, is staining our clothes and that this grate is the culprit. Thanks for your help! I’ll definitely buy my replacement parts from y’all!
I have a Kenmore 110.78942892 the air duct assembly (w11168650) is rusted or somehow become sharp so it catches clothes and tears holes in them. All I need is the grate cover but it appears I need to buy the whole air duct assembly. Would adding some metal chicken wire like material be able to be attached w some sort of high heat adhesive? Any suggestions I sold the dryer for 100 very cheap and am trying to fix the issue for the person who bought it but the part and shipping from sears is 80 so I’d get 20.. Any help appreciated.

If it is new then I would suggest reaching out to the manufacturer and get a tech to come look at it. It should be covered under a warranty.
