  • I don't like the Disney live action remakes, but that doesn't mean good ones can't be made.

If like 80% of the movie is cg it’s not really live action.

I think of all of the recent modern remakes Cinderella did the best, I feel like it stayed true to the original and whatever changes were done actually made it better, we see her with her mother before she passes, her relationship with the prince is more developed, and her relationship with her step mother is on a whole other level compared to the original and as you mentioned about the animal side characters in Cinderella they were there, but as normal animals, maybe more like pets, but they didn't behave in the same manner as they did in the animated version. With The Little Mermaid I think first they should of used sea creatures that resembled the characters more(flounder isn't actually supposed to look like what the actual fish looks like) and skip the whole talking animal thing or maybe go back to how they used to do it with the voice of the animals being more like a voice over like in Homeward Bound, or have the animals act more realistic and not talk at all, but show the Ariel can understand what they are saying, or maybe do what old school Disney used to do and blend animation with live action like in Mary Poppins, have the animals be animated and act like they did in the original.

I think these movies should go back to the source material. You could add some real suspense if Ariel was under threat of turning into sea foam. Or show the pain of Ariel trying to walk on her new legs.

That totally could have given the live action movie it’s own spin on things

The only two good remakes in my opinion were the jungle book and Tim Burton’s version of Alice in wonderland.

5:22 like in the Aladdin stage musical, to fit the medium better Iago isn’t a parrot anymore and there is no Abu but you don’t feel like you’re missing them because the characters they’re changed into/replaced with are entertaining in a new way in their own right

That's a good example. I think even the live action Aladdin got close to being a good remake, but they couldn't separate themselves from the original jokes and bits.

    Answer: Peter Pan (2003)
If the answer in the video isn't even close to that level than it's the wrong answer.
