Good honest review and good job catching the line sight issue. Thats a must to have accurate on a saw. Everything else looks pretty well built though. The one thing Dewalt does best though is listening to the users so you can expect them to come back with an even better design and probably brushless motor.
The blade on this saw is on the left hand side. The DeWalt 7-1/4 inch saw has the blade on the right side. So does every other circular saw I've used. Why the difference?
What is the acctual duration of the battery? If im working on a outdoor table and benches. I will be sawing alot of scaffolt wood 195mm x 30mm. Would it last a hour, couple of hours, day ??
Ok, that's pretty good. I was looking at a combo pack from DeWalt. About $2400 for a jigsaw, circsaw, recipsaw, hammer drill, hamer/screw drill, impact drill, grinder, 4 battery's. Ow yea and a light ;) Is that a nice deal?
A Concord Carpenter i see your worry on the pvc gaurd just so you know i have an older version of what you have that i got in 09 and i havent had any problems up here in ALASKA
Unknown on the laser guide. DEWALT and other manufacturers pick their combo kit tools for marketing reasons. Read our 18 volt combo kit review on ToolBoxBuzz.com to learn why
Jax Kat actually the DCS393B Is a better saw, More amp, more RPM 5150, still 61/2" blade !!! And they look the same !!! Educate yourself, read the info and make your decision !!!
@@ConcordCarpenter Be AWARE DeWalt makes THREE 6 1/2" 20 Volt circular saws and they ALL have different specs !!!! DCS391B The cheap one 3700 RPM 380WHO, the DCS393 is the most powerful at 5150 RPM 460 WHO and there is another lessor powered one and they are all close to the same price. Watch especially in the tool kits as they will put the low powered one in them to meet a price point. They do also offer the DCS393 Bin kits just Check the specs !!!!
Its a great saw and on a second tool we reviewed the site line was accurate. I would not not recommend using the 2.0 Ah battery - never tried it - I assume it would work but way less run time
Very disappointed in mine. Handy but no power. Struggles through a 2x4. Forget about ripping anything .... not enough power. Batteries are fine. My other dewalt tools work fine. Now this saw barely revs up. I'm not happy.
Thanks. Have you ever done a saw test for power and performance gain with different blades? I run Diablo blades in all my circular saws and miter saws and table saws, I can tell you they make a tool work better! Get a gram scale and weight a knew factory blade and Diablo thin kerf and the results are shocking!,I can guarantee you will never go back to normal blades!
The best 18v circular saw is the makita XSH03z brushless , sells for about $189 on ebay. This saw has the power of full size corded saws and has the longest run time.
why would you even use a big saw for trim work? they are to heavy for trim pieces and if you do need a big saw then you should use a chop saw with a big ass back to put the wood against. other than that use a pull saw or a coping saw
I have this saw and my brother has the Milwaukee fuel saw I'll tell you this saw is almost as powerful as the milwaukee which is brushless in real you couldn't tell which is more powerful if you have a contest than it is slightly more powerful not worth the extra cost power no wonder dewalt hasn't come out with a brushless saw yet their brushed saw is almost as powerful as milwaukees brushless
@@ConcordCarpenter haha! yeah, and it's STILL plastic! and apparently saw is still in production being sold. i'm eyeing one on amazon, but winter is coming so...
Thanks for the comment Jeff! Plastic definitely makes me nervous.
I agreed 👍

Thanks for the feedback John
You do the best reviews on tools man, I have this saw and agree with you, I hope the manufacturers listen to you
2:10 Damn that running blade came close, scary. Thanks for the video though, very informative!
Before miter saws were popular carpenters used to own both saws. the reason was to be able to miter to both sides [left / right]
got this a couple weeks ago and i gotta say i love it !
Does this saw have detents on the angle gauge at common angles like 45° & 22.5°?
I just reviewed a newer saw with the 4.0Ah battery - check it out here www.aconcordcarpenter.com/dewalt-20v-max-6-12-cordless-circular-saw-dcs391.html
You're spot on about the line of sight issue!!! Worst thing about an otherwise great tool
Totally agree with the line of sight. Used mine for the first time yesterday and noticed the same thing. It's a pain in the butt.
Hello, please correct the title: 391, not 931. Thanks for the honest review!
@Donna Peroche apparently they do. I got through to them.

most corded saws are blade-right, and many cordless ones are blade-left. PITA? meh.
how do you lock it , need to tighten blade .how ever using the allen wrench the blade moves
can the height of the saw (or depth) be adjusted up and down
randomrazr Do you mean can the depth of blade be raised and lowered? Yes
A Concord Carpenter okay great, we have one part of a floor that has rotton one and i was told to get a saw like this to cut it out
A Concord Carpenter thanks! last question, dewalt makes another circular saw, the model: DCS373M2
is it better or different?
All I want to know is how to adjust saw vlade to allow maximum cut
Thanks for a great review...im interested in this saw and new battery system.
Regards from the UK.

Easily a day

your very right about the retactable guard being plastic. this saw looks an awful lot like the makita which has the same type of guard
thanks! Please consider subscribing to my channel! or website newsletter
Why do the 5 tool combo kits come with a DCS393?..
Also why do these saw not have a laser guide?

Olá amigo qual das marcas e a melhor dewalt ou milwaukee
Thinking about buying the saw only do you know if it works with the 2.0 batteries?
Nice video man thanks for the info

can the switch be replaced
I meant bevel NOT miter
How do you change the blade?
+Paul V Wrench and arbor lock - easy
+A Concord Carpenter I just bought the saw. What is the V Wrench, what is the arbor lock????
+Paul V I've been trying to use the hex wrench that comes with the saw.
+Paul V yes the hex wrench and push the arbor lock to lock down the arbor / blade
+Paul V I've literally taken a hammer to the hex wrench to try to get the screw loose.
Darwin, remember Bambi and the rabbit Thumper? You should take a lesson from the "Thumperian principle" my friend.
The L2 version of this saw comes with two batteries but not a rip fence.
why not watch the blade when cutting?
Old habit I guess
don't watch the blade, watch the guide or fence
you must be very nervous cause most tools these days are mostly plastic.
It's a great saw and if your concerned about a dead straight line you make a guide anyway
Lasts ages with 4.0 ah batteries am a carpenter tradesman
That's impossible you obviously have a lemon saw
Great review

Throw that krapy stock blade and buy a thin kerf blade, makes the saw battery last longer and it makes the saw cut straighter.
good point

Many times we work up off staging and ladders - you can't do everything on a mother saw. This saw will also cut framing and plywood
that's what the ground guys are for
What grounds guys? They are walking their dogs and don't give a.......about me. :-)

Worthless.....
Get the fucking title right!
