I own that saw and use it every day, I am a window and door installer. I have dropped it 45' off scaffolding a few times, it works great. I have never had a problem with getting the job done.

I just got this saw to replace my old 18 volt Dewalt. I always used 18 volt lithium batteries too. This saw is a huge upgrade from my old 18 volt, which I really liked. I’ve used that old 18 for years replacing siding, building handicap ramps, framing different little projects etc and the 20 volt is a huge improvement. I purposely bought the non brushed version because it actually cuts faster than the brushless saw. I’m sure I’ll end up buying dewalts latest new thing in a few years before wearing this new one out. Way more RPM than my old 18 and more than the first versions of this saw. And the price is decent on a bare tool. I’d definitely recommend it. The brushless version has that vacuum hook up which seems vary Harry Homeowner to me. And it felt heavier than this 20 volt B version.
I had one for 2 years until it got stolen. I just bought another identical saw. It’s my everyday saw. I looked into the flexvolt line. But the saw provided good service and it does what I need it to do.
I have this exact model. I prefer the plastic guard vs metal for weight savings. Its only purpose is to guard/protect you and the blade. Helps protect your flesh and at the same time protects the blade teeth from coming into contact with abrasive surfaces. Theres not much force involved so plastic in my opinion is a good choice of material for this application. Great saw for the price.
Had one of these at my trade school. Is great for doing quick jobs when working at height or awkward position. A lot lighter and comfortable than our skill saw 77s but not as powerful. Definitely not a replacement for a 77, but a very useful tool you should have.
The 7 1/4" 570 is brushless and DeWalt claims it only weighs 1/2 pound more, but when I held both in hand the 391 felt a lot lighter than that. Maybe it's better balanced? Anyway I went with this one because I prefer the left blade, easier handling, and the fact it's made in Mexico while the 570 is made in China. And I think the performance is actually pretty similar to the brushless 570 thanks to the smaller blade. Although I do wish it was brushless and had a light, I'm happy with it so far.
It does eat through batteries if you don't use a strong enough battery. The 20 volt 2 amp is great if you are cutting thin wood, but 2 by 4 s and above make sure you go above 4 amps or higher and have several batteries charged on the side.
@@benjaminromshak9904 the 391b is the newer model and the 393 is the older model. go to the home depot website look at the DCS391b(standalone saw) and the DCS393( This is in the 9 tool combo kit). The 391 has a better shoe. The shoe is made of magnesium with ridges. The 393 looks to have a cast aluminum shoe. Be cautious when buying TOOL KITS. Tool kits usually have the older models. Sometimes it's better to save money and buy the standalone tools. If you don't care if the tool kit carries the older models then go ahead and buy it.
My one had a troubleshoot. I used maybe 20 times probably it was good when using 12 times but after that it was heated very fast and broken the 5 batteries. We just claimed to dewalt.
I use to work on the tracks sheeting houses and used this saw to rip cut plywood all day. Guys would talk shit about my saw calling it a toy but everytime i left my cutting area to hang up my sheets of plywood i could hear guys walking up to my saw and trying it out jaja
It will cut through it fine. But I don't find my 391 to be particularly powerful and I'd say you can tell it is "working hard" to cut through large dimensional lumber like that.
lowside67 I see that now lol cuts through the 2x4 with no problem as long as the battery is fully charged . Really struggles with the 2x6 I’ve noticed even with my big 9ah battery tho
Hey dude great work tell Renaissance stop sending you dwarf tools take care of the kids in the wifey and take care of yourself too catch you on your next one bud

Jacob Dixon I may be wrong on this, but I believe that the 393 is made in the USA where the 391 is made in Mexico. Sure wish the 393 was made with the Magnesium shoe. I’d like to support American Made anywhere possible.

I have a brushed hammer drill from ridgid from a kit that’s LSA I took it into Home Depot for service and now I’m waiting for it to be returned to me in my hands it’s just my experience with dewalt I know there are a lot of fans of dewalt!
This sAw is surprisingly powerful for being entry level but it burns through batteries like there nothing compared to the more expensive models even with a huge battery it last no time but it’s still a really great light duty saw

Any huge difference between this and the Dewalt 7 1/4 XR? $30 difference at Home Depot. Wondering your take!

Just picked this model up for $50 from a guy. He never used it either 👌 To me it feels really well made and it cuts awesome with just a 2AH battery.
Yes I do one of many Dewalt saws they all work great some like the flexvolt are a Beast
Love the flexvolt Renato!
My angle bevel screw is stripped…does Dewalt cover this..or can I just cut it off and replace it with something else. Thanks

Good review clint! Love the music too!
My man Brandon! What's up buddy. Thanks my friend!
Did you say variable speed trigger?
Yes sir it has one
what variable trigger?
Back in the day I had a B&D Firestorm saw like this . I work awesome! Considering getting another one
I always liked the side winders Dan. They are smaller, lighter and get the job done
Title in the video is wrong, I came here to see a dcs391b review, the saw you got there is a 393
MJNader what’s the difference between the 391 and the 393?

Just a heads up your title says DCS391B (has a mag shoe) but you are reviewing a DCS393 with aluminum shoe.

Looking at this and the Milwaukee ....still on the fence..
I haven't used the mikwaukee, but this is definitely a cool saw

You said it was chincey then it was solid. From 1 to 10 how solid is it please. Thanks for the vid.
Hey Michael, compared to the big boys like the flex volt and Makita 36v, it's about a 7. Its built solid, but nothing like those are

The guard is chintzy. Just plastic. We use and abuse these every day at work. They hold up well

For sure

Thanks brother
I love my 566 saw
After one minute I learned this is not the tool to get!
Thanks!
That’s the dcs393 not the dcs391. You’re title is wrong
Weird, they must have marked it wrong on the saw itself too
The only difference is the stamped shoe, the 391B is magnesium. Everything else is the same.
@@EliteDadBod Are they both able to stop as quickly as on this vid? I read a review that said the electric brake was only on the 393, not 391.

Underpowered?? Maybe...

Its definitely not as powerful as the sexy flexy, but it will definitely get some work done Chris!
Does an amazing job actually.
