I remember upto a few years ago there were liveryade doormen rushing over with umbrellas if necessary to open the car doors off the very affluent looking guests how thing's change
I'm from Blackpool, I remember when this hotel had a fabulous nite club called Trader Jacks with a swimming pool in the 70s, they've had a new pool since then , the look of the hotel is no different now to what it was in the 70s, they do have much nicer rooms than the ones you stayed in
Another good review. Stayed in the Imperial last month for four nights. Mine was a good size single room and clean. They did however add four nights car parking to my bill when I travelled to Blackpool by train and taxi. Previous year a different Blackpool Hotel charged for dinners that I did not have as I was eating in a small restaurant nearby and being overcharged there on the wine servings. This September I am trying a 'fabulous' rated Guest House to see if the standards are any better or worse.
Bill Clinton was a guest about 17 years ago. He attended the Labour Party Annual Conference, which was held at thd famous Winter Gardens. He wasn't president at the time, he just left his final second term. However, security was seriously tight, including a warship just of the coast. The Imperial was the principal conference hotel when the political parties held their annual party conferences so they were used to accommodating either the Prime Minister, Leader of the Opposition or Leader of the Liberals. Security at conference times was extremely tight. The hotel and the whole area was sealed off, including the coast.
Evenin OMG we stayed there !!!! They did not hoover properly by the reception desk so that told me If I had to score it It would be zero it was really dirty !! tables were sticky breakfast wasn’t up to standard tbh I did complain and tbh they were fair and gave me my money back as for a stay there again it definitely is a NO till the next one 😊
hi ww another great review i have stayed at this hotel .it was dirty, and cold. no money has been invested here but i was told there is a upgrade on the way .the thing is i was here when it was taken over by fragrance hotels but run by rbh and then there was plans for upgrading the place .i think save your money and stay in a b&b.last time i was charged car park and do not have a car .have a great week.
unfortunately you drew the short straw i stayed there in jan 2020 i has a seaview room which was immaculate with very nice furniture the pool sauna and Jacuzzi were open food was exceptional too maybe these rooms are for the cheaper clients not suggesting anything there but you kinda get what you pay for i do agree a lick of paint and a new carpet wouldnt go amiss you need to try the luxury seaview rooms
The pictures you dont recognize are the Rochdale lass singer Grace Field and her Husband the one picture underneath it looked like George Best the Manchester United Footballer
Sad, but where is the custom going to come from to maintain a 4 star hotel? Most big cities now have exhibition and conference centres which are a lot more modern than anything Blackpool has. The town needs something major like some mega casinos and music arenas.
I disagree there's lots of investment in Blackpool at the moment and this hotel is regularly fully booked for conferences and events charging upwards of £100pn they've spent nothing for years and just run it into the ground
@@wanderingwiganer How do you explain the lack of investment in dozens of other hotels in Blackpool over the last 20 years or so? Some are literally crumbling at this point.
Sad to see the Imperial struggling. It used to make its money from conferences. I could never afford to stay there but used to love Trader Jacks nightclub in the basement. The pool was next door. Cant work out why new hotels are being built in Blackpool whilst great buildings like this are going to rack and ruin. Surely refurb is better.
Like the big party conferences etc. Covid put paid to a lot of conferences and they never came back to the same level. Somebody I know was involved in arranging big conferences but now they do smaller regional ones and then have a zoom one with the big bosses who are abroad and don't want to travel.
Possibly if you book for one night you get the not much good room whereas if you book for longer you get a better room as they are making more money from you, although I think you should still get a clean room. A lot of big hotels are like this though, especially Britannia owned ones.
I recently stayed here in room 214,it cost £36 and to be fair it was a very nice room, I guess it's pick of the draw. I'm staying in the Hull campanile Hotel in a few weeks ,so I'm looking forward to that. If your ever in Liverpool ,try out the Liverpool campanile, it's basic and retro but loved it. 😊
For a four star hotel it was disgusting. It was very dirty, and the windows were not safe! You would've thought that safety would be a priority. The bathroom to me is so old fashioned and grubby. The second room was a lot better than the first one, but the bathroom was exactly, the same as the first one. Thanks for the video.
This isn't value for money and it's really shocked me and surprised me. I've been into the Turkish Baths underneath but never stayed. The newspaper in the sash of the window was disgraceful.
I had to check for myself the price, I saw some other days for £156 - next week, but the Saturday you mentioned for £169 there was no rooms available lol. I cannot believe that\those prices, incredible rip off, I cannot see why they would charge that much, no Horse racing as that's were hotels jack up the price, Blackpool FC who are not a Premier League team are not playing at home this weekend, there's nothing else special going on so do not know why the hotel is booked out and how they can charge so much. I wouldn't be surprised if it's price gouging and rooms suddenly become available on Satuday afternoon. I'll check for the fun of it then!
Wow what a let down. Imagine turning up at the weekend paying £169 and being given that 1st room. Was way out of my price bracket so never stayed there pretty glad now I have seen your video.
My God you're fussy 33 pd a night. I stayed there last year and paid lots more and it's a great hotel. Take into consideration its a an old fashioned hotel with old fashioned style
THE BUILDING LOOKS QUITE PRESTIGIOUS FROM THE OUTSIDE, THE HOTEL HAS BEEN SOMETHING ELSE IN ITS HEYDAY, THE ROOMS ARE NOW RATHER DATED, NO WAY IS THIS HOTEL 4STAR.
Just watching your video the hotel was not nice, My partner likes his windows open he likes fresh air, I am the opposite I like the heat I feel the cold,
I stayed there recently. It was good value for money. I'd definitely stay again.

spend a year in Blackpool Colledge early 80's - a remember having a beer in the bar, it was awesome...

Yes it's certainly got an impressive history! It's such a shame to see it in it current state though

@peterainsworth8026 Yes it still has a very long way to go however major improvements are being made throughout the towns hotel stock
Was gonna stay here but I didn't know if they'd pre auth my card every night lol

Thanks for the video.
Living on its past reputation, dreadful now and needs massive investment.
Anytime i watch your video it makes me want to stay in a hotel
Margaret Thatcher's favourite hotel.
Perhaps one day you will do a review of Park house ! I’d like raptor see that till the next one 😊
I have done it twice already 🙂

Best one is the Boulevard

Yes but it was £160 for the same room at the weekend
Best one is the hotel Sheraton

That window how many more needs to be reported to health and safety
Such a shame for an impressive hotel how the room was a quite dated room. Shocking it was a 4 star hotel I'd give that a No star to be fair
I would not stay in that hotel I’d rather sleep in the car that’s disgusting the hotel should be shut down
Hi mate its not the best hotel in Blackpool i been four times my rooms were dirty staines on bed etc
The wife wanted to stay there but she dont now
Try the Park House next door that's quite nice 👍
Just watching your video the hotel was not nice, My partner likes his windows open he likes fresh air, I am the opposite I like the heat I feel the cold,
Britannia hotels look better than this. Its a shame to see it like this as top celebrities used to stop here back in the day.
I agree there much cleaner
4 star ?? More like 1
Discussing only thing I can say
A 4 star hotel? Looks more like a shithole to me. Housekeeping and standards of cleanliness are way below par
Not worth it at all
