Criminals, homelsss, and drug addicts have NO FEAR that there will be any consequences for their actions. What we need to do is to make some examples out of these people. Make it hurt, and make it public. The rest will get the message and either leave or change their behavior.

Resorting to self defense after/during being assaulted by a vagrant isn't "taking matters into your own hands", it's having matters forced into your hands because the city leadership is incompetent and the DA will not prosecute criminals and lock them up where they belong, or the bail is set too low.

The corrupt politicians that have taken over WA state run off anyone with ethics or even moral standards. In order to keep the position you can't think for yourself or have a conscience. You go to work everyday afraid that Harrell, Dow, Inslee or the terrorist city council will decide to fire you. Then for the small occasions when that isn't a concern you know that one day you will need to stand at a federal investigation of one or all of them so the ptsd becomes paranoia that shows through at an interview.

'more outreach.' smack that guy, too.
'i think we've seen a good trend.' well, he can just smack himself. wtf 'good trend' is he talking about? good trend for who? criminals who should be in jail, addicts who should be forced into hospitals, and lunatics who should be in mental hospitals?
oh, he doesn't want ppl to take matters into their owns hands. great. just remember that when seconds count, the cops are only minutes away. also remember that if things get ugly, don't bother calling the cops, they'll just hassle you. break the programming of feeling as if you need vindicated by 'authorities' who will lean on you harder than they will the guy attacking you for defending your property/business/livelihood/life. if you know you've done right and can sleep well at night, who the fuck cares what some DA and judge thinks? are you going to cry when some commie traitors on the city council decry a rising wave of the bad guys being fought against?

Same standard applies, which I agree with, you don't use lethal force unless faced with lethal force and your life is in danger -- if you don't act, you could die. Good luck!

Other police departments are willing to say that there is an issue with the justice department of their city. They openly point to the statistics that show repeat offenders. When a person is arrested for a crime they should be deterred from committing another crime. This isn't happening. People use city jails as a convenient way to get out of the rain for a day or so. They go back on the street and back to the same routine. This is exacerbated 1000x when drug use and theft are no longer crimes.
