A lot of wonderful layering for such a hard driving song. The backing vocals, the rhythm guitar, the lead guitarist, the bassist and the drummer are each doing something unique but supporting each other while they frame Saiki's lead vocals. They're all a standout in this song. Tucked in there is yet another of Kanami's classic, melodic guitar solos. As an aside, in the album version Kanami's lead guitar work is mixed more in the background. So the arrangement for this live performance plays more distinctly in its layering. Great recording and mixing.

Kanami - Ka-NA-mi - is, and always has been, the lead guitarist.
There have never been any changes in the band - it’s these same 5 incredible musicians.
Miku is the Rhythm guitarist and second singer. And primary lyricist. And she is the founder of the band.
Saiki - psyche - is the lead singer.
    Misa on bass
    Akane - A-KAN-e - on drums.

I like this video because all the individual musical elements are so clear, especially the contribution from the Rhythm guitar.

You have been assimilated into the BAND-MAID Collective. Resistance Is Futile! \m/
    BAND-MAID is:
Miku Kobato - band founder, lyricist, rhythm guitar, backing vocals, "The Little Pigeon"
Kanami Tono - lead guitar, backing vocals, music composer, Miku's Sensei, prefers "Kanamincho" or "Mincho"
Akane Hirose - drums, backing vocals, band leader, "The Gorilla"
MISA MISA MISA - bass guitar, "The Barefoot Assassin"
Saiki Atsumi - lead vocals, "The Queen"

    Band-Maid! Thursday February 11, 2021
National Foundation Day of Japan, Nippon Budokan. This is an honor and so richly deserved. Think an American band playing Liberty Hall in Philadelphia on July 4th. Sakuramento wa Bando Meido ga daisuki! Sacramento, does indeed, love Band-Maid.

These ladies are fantastic musicians. I can't pick out one instrument that stands out really...the bassist is killer, the drummer rocks and the guitarists shred with the best of them. The vocalist is pretty good too, but I think the musicians outshine her in most of the songs I've heard from Band_Maid. This song was a little more restrained musically than the other ones I've heard. Cheers!

You should watch the 23 songs in their recent concert DVD/BluRay. She’s been working hard to make sure she isn’t overshadowed by the instruments.

@@weilima9316 So true, and it's even more obvious when you see them live by yourself (I did): most people say they're coming for Kanami, Misa or Miku, and in the end have a hard time to get their eyes off Saiki, because on stage she really catch your attention.

Thanks. The English lyrics available on the net are in Googlish and just wrong in a lot of places. I love this song and know Japanese, so I did my own version. The pain of being in love with the wrong person, having an affair with someone who is already taken-perhaps married. This version shows the upwelling anger. Try the acoustic version for another take.
    Your first "hello",
Was the sound of a puzzle piece falling into place
    I’m sure you don't recall.
    But that's fine with me
You've given me a place where light
shines into the dark of depression
Keep your innocent smile, you said.
Even if my love is not returned,
Even if I’m not your favorite, I don’t care
    Aaah…those are just lies.
    I can't see, I don’t know,
    All I feel is pain.
I can’t fight it, I long to know,
Even if it is just for a moment.
    Eroding my defenses,
You knew, one word, and I could no longer hold back,
    and embraced me
My only wish is that outside
we can just be two people.
    Like sweet melting candy
    Someday you'll disappear too
Leaving behind just your sly expression and your smell.
    But that's fine with me.
    On my own at night,
I wonder where are you? What are you doing?
The more I think about it, the more I can't sleep.
Asking for what I want is selfish.
Can I just wait patiently for you?
    The answer is clear.
    I can't do it, I can’t say it,
    I know, really,
Grasping for what I want isn't allowed.
But with the soft touch of your fingers,
    I’m sure
    I felt love.
    So, don't think to apologize.
Enchant me and I will look away.
I’m addicted to this incurable wound as it just deepens
    I'm falling for you again.
    Lighters I don’t use,
    Lined-up glasses,
    Even new clothes,
Don't cry! These are all mementos of you.
    I just want to dream
    A dream with no end.
    Will I ever wake up?
    Don't cry! Let me believe.
    I can't see, I don’t know,
    All I feel is pain.
I can’t fight it, I long to know,
Even if it is just for a moment.
    Eroding my defenses,
You knew, one word, and I could no longer hold back,
    And embraced me.
My only wish is that outside
We can just be two people.
    The puzzle is breaking!
    Memories aren’t enough.
I close my eyes and, again,
    Again, I’m falling for you.

Thanks for that, it makes a whole lot more sense to me now!
Such a sad song and clearly Miku is a talented lyricist.

    • @steppingstone6643
      @steppingstone6643 4 года назад +4

@@MoonmanRedux You're welcome. There are some things that get a bit lost in translation. For instance where I use 'mementos', Miku uses 'nukegara', which means the cast off skin left after a snake or insect has molted. This leaves some more hints of what the singer is feeling.
Miku seems to be a smart cookie (or pigeon)! She likes to use unusual Kanji characters some of which would be a challenge to read for many native Japanese speakers. I've learnt a couple reading her lyrics. She also borrows from Buddhist teaching to add to the impact of a song, like Blooming.

Still my all time favorite Band-Maid song, though Blooming is pushing Puzzle pretty hard. I know sometimes you may not get specific requests for particular Band-Maid songs. A couple of reasons why is 1. A lot of their live stuff on youtube has been pulled recently for copyright because of their just released new BR WORLD DOMINATION TOUR at LINE CUBE SHIBUYA form 02/14/2020. 2. Band-Maid has so many great songs that fans just don't know what to list, knowing that anyone you choose to react to is going to be great. I see you already done "Don't You Tell me " live. Music video to be checked out are Blooming, Rinne(reincarnation), Dice, Don't let me down, thrill, alone, The dragon cries and Bubble. All of which can be found on the Band-Maid youtube channel. Lives are the tricky bit right now. Domination live and Choose me live are on their channel as official. Domination Live is an absolute must see. Just take my word for it, do it next. Other great live stuff include Real Existence, Non Fiction days, Freedom, Take me Higher, Onset(instrumental), Play, Secret my lips, Daydreaming, Clang and the acoustic versions of Puzzle and Anemone. All of these are popping up and going down then popping up again by different uploaders. You have to kind of search for them. You know if you got the right ones if they are from 2017 Studio coast japan or 2018 Zepp tokyo performances

Real Existence (2018) is actually on their official channel. It doesn’t get many views (compared to the MV). I think most people don’t realize it’s there. That was a great rendition and recording of that song.

i've only seen one version of the lyrics translated to English(and that version reposted elsewhere). i'm not fluent in Japanese, but looking at the way the Japanese is written, the 'her' mentioned in the translated lyrics, i think, can also be referring to the first-person/speaker. Japanese isn't as specific compared to English when it comes to who/what is being discussed. even the part about 'for both of you to go outside'.. it's talking about two people, not necessarily two OTHER people. anyway, that's my take. someone please correct that if i'm way off.

It’s only happened to be a rock’n roll, but it’s not the thing you should really focus on. That is the real stake or the MUSIC that EACH of these girls delivers to you and to the core or your heart. I hope you listen, once again, to pick up all the precisions form each instrumental part that they play behind the cachest vocal melody. Then, your’ll know these chicks are INSANE!
