Astro. Hands down. I've got the flex headed brother of the one you tested (a 30SL). Love it. My only complaints are the "standardized charging port" (I don't care for it on my phone either). and the adjustable brightness (I'd be happier with a plain old on-off switch).

Hi, another great review. Here in the U.k the Astro is sold by the " DURITE " Brand. It is a very versatile, bright light. I am for reference on my second unit as my first one dropped a few LED's within 6 months of ownership. I remember the Supplier saying the first batch there chain sold had a high return rate for Bulb / Switch issues.
The replacement however is working without Fault 👍🏻

Base from your review itself...I would purchase The Astro Pneumatic 40SL without a doubt. Price is a little stiff but is worth it and warranty and features are pretty cool is a must for DIY or Pro Usage. I am waiting on another Torque wrench comparison video is kind of long overdue??? i have the HEX and the BAYCO. the hex is a good unit but has 2 flaws. 1 - weak head. so carefull on bending it (i bent it to much once by accident and the led stoped working but fixed it) 2 - weak usb port. over time it will crap caused by weak solder joints on the port.
the bayco is a good led light but one flaw I found on it was the weak battery life and weak magnets. also the battery is Ni-Hi (made up of 3 AAAs) and not a lithium battery like the hex light.. . hope this added info helps

Hey im new to your channel
love your reviews. I've owned the bayco for years and you were correct. Ive misplaced my charger and nothing else works. After watching this I called bayco and they're sending me one at no charge. Since finishing mechanics school along with bad night vision. I have a fetish for good lights. I really like the Astro and found it cheaper. Thanks again for your reviews

I’ve had the bayco for not quite 5 years using it everyday and has been a great light. I’ve dropped it from various heights, gotten it soaked, etc. Say what you will about the magnets but I left that thing under a bus for like 2 months before some else found it and returned it to me. Only in the last month has it started giving issues with recharging. I fixed it temporarily but it’s time for a new light. I went ahead and ordered the Astro so we will see how it does.

I've had a similar, if not the same, Bayco for about 2 years. Reliable, lasts a long time between charges, but your review of the limitations is accurate. The magnet is extremely week, working under the car or under the dash, tap the light & it falls (inevitably lands pointing right at my eyes ). The Flashlight on the bottom is no more useful than a small LED flashlight so no points there, & the unique charger is a complete PITA, too many unique cords in the garage already, love the micro-USB idea.
When it dies I'll probably go with the Astro.

Ditto my experience with the same light, plus shortly after buying it the metal insert disappeared from the base of the detachable hook, never to be found. So now I can't even hang it the light until I expoxy another magent in there (if I can still find that stupid hook). If I was buying again it would definitely by the Astro.

I loved my Astro Light! Unfortunately, the magnet was so dang strong that I left it stuck to a vehicle that left the shop. The only issue I had was the felt on the magnet side wore away and small particles of metal would stick to it causing the light to scratch the paint when used on the outside of a car. Other than that it was awesome!

I have 4 of the Home Depot lights and the light is just fine. They take awhile to charge up so I have two in the garage to switch from. The onlt complaint is the usb port. It gets messed up and I have to wiggle the plug for it to charge or I have to set it down to put sideways pressure on it to make the connection. One of the four the usb port stopped working all together. I disassembled it to see If I could put a new one in and it is on a circuit board. I tried to reflow it but still no good. I have to go back to HD and see what they say. They all were bought at different times during the last 12 months.

  • @OGskunkMASTA

I LOVE my bayco, I like the generic non USB charger because the USB charger ports blow out after alot of use, plus the magnet is strong and sticks to everything just fine as I don't use my light to pick things up lol. You also got the smallest Bayco.

I have the HDX and the charging port has a loose connection. I can still charge it, as long as I position the USB until I see the charging light come on. I guess at 1/3 the price, I can still buy 2 more and come out even. I also have a 250-lumen penlight with a magnet on the pocket clip. Batteries last a long time, it's small and portable and has about the same light spread as the HDX. The cost was about $17

I would go with the HDX for two main reasons. 1. I could buy three HDX for the price of one Bayco, 2. the light color seemed way better to me. Also the hook on the HDX would work out better for me. I would tho buy just two of the HDX so lighting would not be a problem and could use one while one is charging if needed.

Geofrey, I have the HDX version and I just got the Zouhan version in today for less than Astro by at least $10. It's the same light for less.
I have used the HDX light for over two hours to illuminate my laptop keyboard out here in my garage. That's about as long as I've let it go, so I have now actual time, but it's been good to go so far. I bought a second one before the Zouhman arrived today.
