its also bc she told him "I will stand with you between the heavens and the earth, I will tell you where you are." so she keeps her style, her motifs, her designs as is, so that George always sees her as his North Star, his home, and can for a moment recognize her and remember their love. its beautifully bittersweet.
@@LeniTiara-py7yx white wedding gowns were popularized by Queen Victoria, who was Queen Charlottes granddaughter. White wedding dresses weren’t really a thing prior to that even for the rich due to white being very expensive and difficult to keep clean due to the times.
@Leni Tiara white wedding dresses is an extremely new and modern tradition. Historically, wedding dresses were much more vibrant and usually the woman's best dress
I wondered why she was dressed in outdated styles when the first season of Bridgerton aired, especially since other ladies, including Lady Danbury, were dressed in fairly up to date styles. But it being a grounding technique for George, a way to help him recognize her….oh my heart!!!
im sorry to say that’s not why. the real queen charlotte did not like the regency style fashion and opted to still dress in the more traditional georgian style bc she could
@@olipender483 this is a Bridgerton show it’s been stated many times that it is not historically accurate and that it is a sort of fantasy and that they were just inspired by the real Queen Charlotte. Basically the show is not trying to be historically accurate
Charlotte and George is now my fave pairing in the Bridgerton universe. I think the only tiny tiny detail I wish they added was him calling her "Lottie". I always found it so cute when older George did it in the Bridgerton series. I was hoping to hear him use his cute shortened version of Charlotte in their series. It's a minor thing though.
i was wondering why he didn’t do this. but thinking about it he told her he is just “George” and would always refer to her as Charlotte so maybe the fact he says Lottie now is kinda like how he is no longer the George he used to be and neither is she? since he can’t remember her that well or something? or maybe the nickname just came afterwards in some other way that hasn’t been revealed and i just need to sleep lol
The fact that she keeps her old style to not leave her husband behind is just precious and sad. Like she's thinking "The world will go on but he won't, and I can't leave him in the past, alone and scared"
I absolutely loved how the clothing told a story within the story. Especially how she continued to wear 18th century styles even after they were no longer in fashion, just so George could still recognize her
This series was just perfect. My husband sick right now and was just a sweet couch potato lol. I've already watched it all (3 times) so I put it on as background noise while being a busy bee around the house. I didn't realize he was so into it until I checked on him and when I tried to change it he said "Noo! I'm so into this"
Since she was queen, it was seen more as “formal” then outdated. Look up court dresses from that period. They where a beastly mix of Georgian style, and high regency waistlines.
I love the fact she maintained her old style of clothes so George could recognise her, it is such a beautiful touch to a wonderful love story, I loved every second of this spin-off
I love this series so much. QC is perfection. I cried twice. First @ "Do you love me" scene and of course that heart-breaking ending. I was bawling my husband asked what the heck happened to me. I just went to him and hug him and he look so confused. I vowed silently I will love him unconditionally like QC did. Gosh that series made me so emotional.😅

The reason Goerge married charlotte was through this advisors that glorified charlotte will be a good queen because she’s not involved in politics…I’m happy they fell in love. The series on Netflix was so good. The chemistry between them was fluid. Love your fashion videos! You say what I think when I watch movies or shows!! Love watching your posts
Something that I’ve notice that I thought was pretty cool is in the finale episode for the Ball. George and Charlotte’s outfits are different colors, I didn’t think much on it unlit I watched the scene just before they walk in to greet the guest. They stop at the portrait (the one George was not present for and Charlotte requested that her skin tone darker etc.) if you pay attention, you’ll see that the color clothes George has on in the painting are the colors for Queens Charlottes Ball gown and vice versa. I gagged when I seen it and thought it was a cute/subtle nod to that moment.
Great video! Also i noticed that apart from his fancier outfits, they tended to dress George in only black or white. I think this was on purpose, to highlight how he flipped between two states, madness and his regular self. Also i saw that some historians thought he might have had bipolar disorder which also fits with the two polar opposite colors!
🤔I did notice the Queen in Bridgetown dressed differently from everyone else; but I just thought that was because she was the Monarch. Interesting new perspective.
I love the way her hair looks and the tiaras (?) in it! It’s giving the opulence of the French courts wigs but looks beautiful rather than a little ridiculous to modern eyes.
Them matching is a coordinated effort by all royals and wealthy well to do couples. It's how they would display themselves in court, parties, events and general public so that everyone knew who was married to whom. Her showing up in a different wardrobe makes sense. She wasn't yet married and there for still had her ball gowns and accessories curated for her "season years". Matching today as a couple is a mimic of this trend in today's society. It is now most commonly associated as a display of love between a couple. You appear to be mixing the two here.
I didn't think about the style story. It makes sense. She is dealing with a "damaged " person whom she really loves. She had to be a strong person. I hope in real life she had a confident who she could confide, cry, and laugh with. The Lady Danbury is a made up for this series.

I haven't heard anyone mention the necklace Charlotte wore during her wedding. It was a chunky chain style, and I can't help but wonder if it symbolized the oppression & slavery of Africans, which the British royal family had a heavy hand in (Trans-Atlantic slave trade, anyone?).
@katiekok6736 If you think for a moment that any titled British man, let alone the King of Great Britain, would have knowingly married a black woman in those days, you are very much mistaken. Queen Charlotte was German.
