@Michael Rivera Considering how he and his family lead their lives, I suspect there is truth to that. I always tell ppl if it helps you get out of bed and make sense of the world, don't let anyone challenge you on that. And of course Protestant work ethic.
When people talk about needing hardship to provide, in most cases it seems that what they are actually looking for is a problem they are capable of solving that will provide them with a feeling of satisfaction. Modern life is too complex for many people now, and there's no joy to be had from achievement. Mostly, due to not being capable of achieving anything in their chosen, field and then being unable to admit they're playing in too high a field for any joy, because there is no chance of any personal advancement, and they're left to living pseudo lives of false achievement. Many people have careers centered around lying about their ability to actually do the job they are paid for, and they and their supervisors have some non verbal agreement where they both agree to never really achieve anything. This is why construction workers are the happiest. Not because it's some great job, but because they are doing something in which they will see tangible results from their labor, they have a task and everyday they see themselves complete another piece of it. It's immensely rewarding since the vast majority of people achieve nothing in their life. Absolutely nothing.
@L Alien fuck off, most people won't handle your job because they demand better. Stop thinking your jesus because you do a physically arduous job out of necessity.
