There is a lore reason why monster hunters can wield comically large weapons. Basically they're descendents of super soldiers.
Think Witcher, potion course that makes them STRONK, it’s why there are so few hunters

Having a Lore™️ reason for having them run around with big ass weapons: Even Better
That, and also the absolutely insane training any wannabe hunter has to go through and survive for about TEN years to even have the right to TRY and be evaluated to become a hunter.
Not counting all the learning needed to be able to operate the mechanisms of the weapons that all feel like incomprehensible messes to the common man.
There's a manga panel about that in MH - Flash Hunters, where a villager goes to pick a wounded hunter's bow and finds himself unable to even lift the damn thing, and then when he looks it over doesn't understand how to deploy the whole thing anyways.
And as for collecting materials, they just took a small car of an axe to the bones and flesh of the monster until it dropped... Good luck getting good leather after you took a helicopter balde to it

Me and my friends call it "Battle Carving" and will yell it as we carve the tail with the monster still there.
I mean, it's not like it takes more than a second to grab shinies. Tails are another matter. There's a reason combat carving is considered one of the great sins of MH. I say, doing it semi-regularly.
Makes getting Tempered Glimmerpelts a pain sometimes though.

As a Horn Main, I always feel guilty for stopping to get a shiny off the ground.
Also, there is a good lore reason why you get so little, the guild takes most of it. My guess is you get the first pickings, and thus, best bits of the pulverized pulp that was your target.

That's seems child's play compared to what Lex does to beat Superman most of the time.
For the monster hunter reason why you have to hunt a monster multiple times is because the damage during the hunt or damage when fighting other monsters can deem the matieral useless
Which is why sometimes capturing a monster yields more matierals
That and a skilled cleaner has a better chance of removing the piece successfully
I also like to think that the Guild/villages also gets a cut of the spoils. They have to help transport monsters, help equip hunters and help run the village, so it makes sense why you don’t get EVERYTHING.
The hunters carving after a successful hunt is just them “taking a little off the top.” Just shove that extra scale in your pocket, no one needs to know.

You wonder why we need to kill monsters multiple times to make a full armor ? IT's actually simple, the materials we use are only te best quality ones from the monster, and while you fight the monster you obviously grievously damage it, meaning there's only a small portion of the materails that are usable in the end.

6:11 iirc, that gem is from original 1e D&D tomb of horrors. I think it was the lich boss's phylactery. And, like near everything in the ToH, it was trapped.
I think your right about the SETTING (I've watched vids on it recently) but the gem isn't a phylactery but a diamond with a corrupted Wish spell on it...when you try to use the Wish spell that is in the gem it goes horribly wrong and kills everyone within a certain radius. Tomb of Horrors was Gygax's "F YOU!" to power gaming players by setting it up to be the most annoying and punishing dungeon to complete...you NEED to experiment a bit to find the answer to some of the puzzles but they all have horrible consequences...like at least THREE of them send you back to the start of the dungeon bare naked with all your equipment gone, there's an unavoidable death to a roller trap, another unavoidable death near the end that instantly turns your character to "a fetid powder" that blows away in the breeze and can't be revived, one that changes your gender among other things the more times you use it, and a trap that sets your INT score to 1. There's also the fake ending you can get in the dungeon...Gygax made that dungeon JUST to screw with people.
@@ShinKyuubiDon't forget the fact that *YOUR PARTY* is the one that revives the demi-lich. The key you find early in the dungeon, that isn't the solution to any of the correct routes, is the demi-lich's Phylactery. You repairing the key, because you think it's going to be the solution, is what revives the demi-lich. All this for less than 6000GP of total loot.

@@justnoob8141 There's a demi-lich in the treasure room of that module, it's Phylactery is the key that you repair, that demi-lich isn't there if you don't repair the key, just a normal Banshee.

Honestly having to hunt a monster multiple times to get a full armor is pretty fine. Considering how much slashing, bashing and whatever else you use on the hunt you do on the monster, I am more surprised you even get ANY useable materials.
