I'm not a Liverpool supporter but for me, no one ever hit a ball better than Steven Gerrard, and he could change a game better than any English midfielder of his era. Well played son.

@@Oa1565 yes cuz this is the definition of a player taking a game by the scruff of the neck and pulling his side through... Gerrard had tons of these olympiakos in 2005, Istanbul final first goal, and this whole final... While there are other games I could name these were the biggest... Wasn't another big name player bigger then Gerrard in the mid 2000's that's why mourinho wanted him so bad even though he had lampard.
This game among others shows why Gerrard is one of the greatest footballers ever, he may not have flair and skill moves like Messi, Ronaldo or (one of my favourites) Ronaldinho but man could he take a game by the scruff of the neck. If I could only choose one of those players (at their best) in a dream team, it would be Gerrard all day. I wish we had him in the current Liverpool team, could you imagine! Liverpool would be unstoppable. I think that's what Liverpool is missing right now to be honest, that box to box midfield general, kinda like a Pogba, who I don't think is quite as legendary as Gerrard yet but he could be and he has one a world cup to be fair. But if Gerrard played in better teams he would of won more. But he chose to take less money and play in a not great squad out of loyalty, and that's part of what makes him special, it's not just the player, it's the man too. Only players I see who could be that Gerrard like player for LFC is Pogba (never gonna happen) Sergej Milinković-Savić (Lazio) This guy could be special if Man U or Man City get this guy I'm not gonna be happy to say the least. I was never convinced by Keita, you can be short/small and still be a good midfielder but he just seems to get overpowered, A LOT, and he gives a lot of passes away, not great for a midfielder. Fabinho could be great, in a Kante, Fernandinho, Viera, R.Keane way but not Gerrard. I've just realised I've written a novel and probably no one is going to read it anyway, so I'm going to stop now. If you did read all of this, bloody hell, well done! I hope you got something from it and I haven't just been writing complete nonsense. Cheers!
After losing in CL final against Madrid, I miss him so much. His leadership can't be replaced by anyone and he deserved all of love from us. And Xabi, he's such a cuttie attractive when Stevie lifted the trophies. I just feels wonder he was him. Lol.
No doubt about his leadership but just prove that one man show team can't sustain if team want to progress consistently. In the early 2000s until pre klopp era, Liverpool is irrelevant without Gerrard. Rafa assembled great team in 08/09 season but still a one man show team due to over reliance to Gerrard. They came close to the title in 13/14 season under Brendan but again Gerrard prove his significance as he slipped and the whole team crumbled towards title run in. Current Liverpool team has more than one leader and that's the ingredient to be success and sustainable in modern football. We only see this in Liverpool and man city so far ahead from the rest.
