    What to do if i have no motor to reference and the compressor head has no data plate

    Great tips!! I have a question I have craftsman’s 125 psi 60 gallon air compressor I recently purchased used. Works great but not enough pressure and CFM for sandblasting! So I was thinking of buying a.new more powerful air compressor pump online. Would my motor on my Craftsman 60 gallon match up or is there a way to use the 5.5 hp motor with a new pump??? Or is it just made for that pump????? Thanks buddy

    I had a craftsman oilless 6hp 60 gal compressor since 94’ and have rebuilt the pump already but am tired of the noise and figured since the motor is good just tear the compressor portion off and get a H.F.5 hp pump and slap em together and good to go only after I got the pump I and started getting into it I find out the motor is only 15 amps and no where close to 6 hp..my question is can I just use it as a special 5 hp and spin it a little faster to make up the difference?if you can and will answer I appreciate it thank you.

    Hi, I've been offered a puma 64 litre air compressor. The 1/2hp motor has been replaced with a 1hp motor. Is this an ok upgrade or will there be problems?

    I am trying to run a onboard system in my vehicle but want to run pneumatic tools such as impact drills Grinders Etc but most of the compressors that I've seen on the market are too small and do not generate enough power and are mainly to inflate tires what size amp and or horsepower is sufficient enough to run those power tools and with how many gallons?

      It’s probably the centrifugal switch on the back of the motor that’s not disconnecting after start up

    Remember when compressor manufacturers was inflating their motor hp ratings? I have a devilbiss that has a mo 3022-1 mitor that they say is a 5hp. Its spected out just like the one in the video except it's 208/230 volt. Ive been told these motors are closer to a 3hp motor. The reason im asking is my pump went out and i need to replace it. So i have to know the correct hp of the motor.
    Ive seen three motors with the same specs, one was a 3hp, one a 3.7hp and the other a 5hp.

      For some people... I took an compressor(speed air 2 cylinder), a 32 gallon standup tank of an old craftsman and an electric motor I scavenged. Pulled a fly wheel off one unit another off another and now I have the quietest air compressor I could have ever dreamed of. It took a few hours longer than I would have liked but the knowledge I learned about tube fitting sizes and coupler sizes was worth every min. Some catch the vibs and some catch the vapors.....

    I have a question not a comment I just bought a craftsman 5hp 20 gallon single stage 240 volt for 200. How much wld I benefit if I transferred everything over to a 60 gallon tank

    • @gokblok
      @gokblok 2 года назад

      You won't. You'll be overworking that motor because it'll have to run longer to keep that volume of air at a given pressure. You'll far exceed the duty cycle of that motor.

      As long as the frame fits, you can always go up in HP with the same RPM.

      Hi Thomas,
      This website has a handy tool at the top to help you get a ballpark on your pulley size and resulting RPM: gadi.agric.za/software/renting/pulley_calc.php We generally use it to help figure out the pulley size for the motor as the flywheel size, recommended pump speed, and motor RPM are usually known factors. But you can use that tool to figure out any of the four factors. We'll definitely looking into doing an RPM specific video in the future though.

    So disappointed in my 5 HP USMotors electric motor that came on my Cambell Housfeld air compressor I am wanting to make sure i get a better quality motor. Mine lasted not even 3 years and I dont use the air compressor daily. I was hoping your video would talk about gettting a quality replacement. My dad owned an automotive shop back in the day and it ran for years as mechanics used their tools daily. What happened to the quality of products nowdays? I will never purchase a US Motors electric motor built in Mexico. Total piece of crap!

    • @FisherCatProductions
      @FisherCatProductions 2 года назад

      Good luck getting a cheap, US made anything. There are good, foreign made products, and bad US made products. Cambell is a cheap, homeowner brand so you can expect they are using cheap, relatively unreliable motors and compressors. If you got 3 years out of it, you got what you paid for. Putting an expensive, quality motor on a 3 y.o. CH compressor that may have another year or two of life--how does that make sense? You do realize that a robust, 5HP motor will cost you twice what your entire CH setup cost, right? Better off to buy a good, used commercial unit. Or buy a quality compressor and pay for it. Buy once--cry once.
