How To Install A Magnetic Starter - Air Compressors - Compressor-Source.com
That’s a very good instruction video. But, your motor still had the wires connected to terminals. 😬 How do you wire a motor when there are no wires attached? 🤔
I spent years of school in Mechatronics studying this stuff. Never in all of those years did an instructor simply pick up a motor and a wire and just explain this to us. No, they had to spend lectures and countless nights going over the power factor and phase angle and inductive and capacitive reactance of the circuit, the impedance and so much other information. If they touched on wiring diagrams explanations like this, they simply would go over a slide in a lecture. I don't understand why they couldn't do this type of stuff for us students. I'm already pretty advanced in my career by now and I understand it, but at the time of school I much would rather have had them do THIS!!!! 😂
What's the best for ease of winding the thing back up?
🎈🦧
as a air compressor manufactory supplier , i need to said , your video is excellent .
Thanks, this was just what I needed.
yup!!!!!thank you so much for the confirmation of the check valve. The parts house ACTUALLY had a note, if your switch leaks continuously after shutting off, do not replace this switch!!! Replace or clean the check valve on the tank...your video confirmed the real issue!!! I was one who was saved from replacing the switch unnecessarily. thank you AGAIN. :)
#3 I did exactly that and its still doing the same thing? Leaking when compressor has shut down. I replaced that valve with a new one? If you can help it would be awesome!
Great.
i think ill buy a screw compressor...wow good info thanks
What to do if i have no motor to reference and the compressor head has no data plate
Two stage are more efficient. As in kwhr per air delivered. At 2 hrs per week you will never see the benefit. At 40 or 80 hrs per week you will see the benefit. And 2 stage deliver more air per hp. That is just restating first statement.
What??
Thank you, very educational.
👌👌 🇧🇩
do all air pressure hoses contain lead?
what would be the capacitor value commonly use to a sungle phase motor like this..i had an old single phase motor which had a bad capacitor..i dont know what how much microfarad to buy
I think this is why dewalt has so many problems with their 60 gallon single stage setups going over 150 psi. I see a lot of bad reviews.
Any mention of CFM with the same motor? Just saying more does not help.. Your semi tire scenario makes no sense.. Difference in price?
So there was basically no information here and he doesn't answer questions... HP ratings on most Home owners tools are not even close to accurate.. Your 6 HP Craftsman is really approx a 2 HP. trying to find and afford a 6 HP motor will be impossible....
The best explanation video on RUclips for si gle phase. Didn’t remember how to change the rotation on a single phase, I thought it was just like 3 phase I thought maybe just chsnging one of the L’s would do but I was wrong. Thank you for the refresher brother
i always pretended to know and now i actually do know Thanks for sharing this
Thanks for explaining that on single phase residential power white or black will not change rotation direction for 120 or 240 volt.
My Fasco D6004 motor has P1 and P2 wires. Where do they go?
So for painting it sounds like a one stage is better, is that correct?
Hello! Please help me with the electrical connections for 220 V to an electric motor lesson 190011-53.Now it is connected L1 T3 T5 T1) and L2 (T4 T8 T2) and when i power it up it short and the fuse blows i think this is the 110v connection i need the 220v connections. On his wiring diagram it shows 110V LINE (T1 T3 T8) for 220V LINE (T1) TAPE (T2 T3 T8) LINE (T4 T5) But because I don't work with electric motors, I don't understand the scheme, it confuses me at 220 volts. Thanks!
Very good video and SO informative. Exactly what I was looking for.
Great information, thanks!
Good tutorial
Blubird is the best hose on the market nothing comes close to it!
No details in this video. I'll try another from you.
What if you have a single stage pump that pumps up to 225 ? Then the first 10 years of its life it ran 175 off and 150 on with a 4.5 hp 220 electric motor . Then at 13 years old it got a 5 hp motor 220 again . But no cheap Mexican motor no a baldor reliance industrial motor. And a 1/2 bigger pulley moving the compressor pump from around 875 rpm to around 965 rpm . Now after that work was done my brothers-n-law said did you get a new compressor he looked at it as he said that ! He said why is it not dragging the way it use to? I told him he said now I got a compressor! He worked in a truck shop and ran a dozer for half his life . They always had the big 3 phase ingrasoll Rand 480 powered compressor. But he said that’s great my compressor doesn’t run a long time and kicks off faster because it’s building up faster . It’s 80 gallon with a 3 cylinder pump and it’s the only compressor I’ve ever used that I could run a D/A and while using it non stop this compressor will cycle out it will keep up with the ingrasoll Rand old school D/A build up and kick off while running it the whole time ! Amazing single stage compressor. That’s were all the out let’s are hooked to the compressor . I’ve had to over the years replace all three head gaskets and one set of read valves in one cylinder. I keep the oil changed when I can see it’s dirty in the clear window . That’s about once a year . I’ve always wanted the dual stage IR model 253 type 30 . Great explanation of the types of stages . Thanks for sharing an I’ve subscribed and liked this video . I’m thinking I’ve bought from your eBay store front . Check valves and the puma air filters I have to make them work in my compressor because they don’t make the right ones . Discontinued 20 year old kobalt well it’s at least 18
Thank you for the video, can you explain how to wire a DPDT switch to a motor?
Exactly. Before looking at this video I replaced the pressure switch. With no luck. I watched this and purchased a new check valve. And then everything was fixed. Thanks for the video as I did exactly what you said replacing the pressure switch for nothing. Thanks again!!
I don't buy polyurethane or plastic tires on my car and I don't buy polyurethane hoses. Most of the stuff I own is decades old and will last decades more. They're making stuff cheaper in America and it's very noticeable. They don't want stuff to last 40 years they want it to last 40 months and the inflation to match. As a customer you've got to make careful decisions. You can't trust the Amazon rating system as people often times post ratings before they even get the product. I've seen products on Amazon with many many thousands of ratings 4.8 stars drop to 1.8 stars a few months later. Hybrid hose I'm just not a hybrid kinda guy.
Always wondered what the difference in stages were and now I finally know ! Thanks. Yea, I guess for most applications except filling truck tires and running big truck impact guns you're much better off with single stage.
What about Screw type compressors?
Great video! I had a leaking pressure switch, cleaned up the check valve of some corrosion and problem solved. 10 minutes of effort got me up and running again. Thanks for posting!
Jamie, please help me find the pipe thread gage on your website
If you have replaced the check valve and replaced the pressure switch and still have air leaking through the unloader valve on the pressure switch, then you may need to make a slight adjustment in the clearance between the pin at the end of the unloader valve and the paddle switch. I had this problem with a switch on a Senco 0968 compressor that is like the black one in this video. The pressure switch has a small lever or paddle that pushes a pin at the end of the unloader valve when it shuts off. If the unloader valve leaks air after the compressor shuts off and keeps bleeding the pressure down to zero through the unloader valve, check the adjustment between the pin and the paddle. There is a nut just behind the pin on the unloader valve that offers some adjustment and there is a screw that secures the unloader valve to the pressure switch housing that also offers some adjustment. The adjustment needed is slight but it can correct the leak and allow the compressor to hold pressure. Worked for me.
What I am seeing is, my exhaust valve is leaking when the compressor starts up. So the whole time it's running, the exhaust valve is leaking. But when it shuts off, the exhaust valve stops leaking and everything works as normal. What would this be?
A phenomenal video you've created for us "NEWBIES" when it comes to the various different types of air compressor hoses and their composition, as well. GREAT INFO to be armed with and know when deciding or deliberating on which type of hose is best for our specific needs or type of applications, as well. Thanks brother!!
I have a question, btw, I liked and subscribed because you are very knowledgeable about something I need help with. Well, here goes, I added a series of copper lines (and a water separator just before the tank) in a grid on the wall for cooling, about 70 feet in between the compressor head and the tank to get rid of all the water. When I did, the line isn't letting the check close until all that air in that line empties. The 70 ft. of copper line takes about 3 minutes to bleed out thus wasting a fair amount of air. Is there anyway to fix this and is this doing any harm to my compressor? It did get rid of almost all of the water out of the tank, btw.
Can a load genie be replaced with a conventional check valve if I replace the switch with one that has the 1/4" unloader nipple on it? My old Speedaire doesn't even have a switch. It just plugs in and goes. I like it because it's a quiet oil pump type so I'm hoping to save it. The noise coming off the load genie sounds like a blown rod bearing on a car.
What's that little tube/case on the top of the motor? What's inside that part?
thank u so much..
In the middle of a project to rewire motors, this was excellent.
Great info just what I needed to know!
lol... "I want to buy this brother a beer..." lol. my sentiments exactly - but not a beer. He needs to stay sober so he can guide the rest of us rookies into how to do these things accurately. Greg [garden grove, CA usa]
Very helpful, thank you for putting this together
