For those on about prices. 1. NYC 2. Delivery 3. During covid, restaurants (especially Chinese) all raised prices and since people continued ordering the prices never went back down. My standard order pre covid was $25 and is now $50. And I am not in NYC. It took months to find a new go-to place with decent food and portions.
Not to mention UberEats, Door Dash and GrubHub have ridiculous delivery fees. I don't order delivery as much as I used to because it's cheaper to pick my order up.
Then why live in NYC it's just for showoff if you hardly managing to live there this place is more suitable for High income individuals but NYC is beautiful too can't argue that
Besides you getting married I’ve never seen you happier in your videos as I have with you back in America eating the yummy food and spending time with your family. Mrs. Deen you bring out the best in Ben.
I hope people realize that the prices you see on those delivery apps like DoorDash, Uber eats, etc are NOT the same prices that are seen if you were to go inside the restaurant or call to place your order yourself or order from their actual website not through a 3rd party. I stopped ordering delivery for that reason. It’s ridiculous to see for example, if I want 10 wings, on the app the wings are priced at almost $17-18 but if I were to go on their actual restaurant’s site, or call it in, the price is way cheaper & it’s the actual damn price for the food lol The price you have to pay for convenience is craaaaazy. They want every little penny I swear lol
Chinese food in Canada is very different than from the US because we have this type of Chinese food called "Hakka" which is a Chinese and Indo fusion because alot of Caribbean, Indian and Chinese people are here in Canada (specifically around the Toronto area)
Gotta go to Wo Hop on Mott St. in Chinatown. If you want chinese food while in NYC, you gotta go to Wo Hop. Best in the city. Been going there for over 25 years.
Chinese American here, and though we all know this isn’t “authentic” Chinese food, sometimes i crave this sickly sweet, glossy, deep fried type of Chinese food. It’s my junkfood haha!
Wednesday I am making American style Chinese food as a barter for work done on my house. Had my rain gutters cleaned. Anyway thank you for this, timing was great! Love to see the different dishes!!!! I will have to try them. The guys that worked for me I am making them, sweet and sour chicken balls, chicken fried rice, egg rolls, hoisin noodles, and orange ginger veg mix. Great show I am becoming a fan for sure, thank you!
Yo ben, if you want some really good authentic chinese food i highly recommend going to flushing new york while you're still here Some examples: alley 41 for szechuan, new world mall foodcourt for the chongqing xiao mian, 8090 in new york food court for the teriyaki steak and pasta They all taste better dining in than takeout tho
You need to try Wo Hops in china town, the one in the basement not the one street level. Absolutely next level. (fried noodles are a must)

EXACTLY! My parents and I were from Brooklyn and even after we moved upstate New York, they would take us into NYC to Chinatown specifically to Wo Hop several times a year
I appreciate Ben because he appreciate simple food combos, like the pastrami rye and mustard, or egg drop soup, or the simple smash burger cooked to perfection. Guy knows his stuff don’t change a winning combo only a losing one
Love your videos and awesome to see you in NYC. I get food from Shanghai 21 all the time. I’m sad to say the stuff you ordered is not what they’re known for. They’re top notch for Shanghai food, but middle of the road for Americanized Chinese.
Indeed, Shanghai 21 is at the top for me. Formerly Shanghai Manor. I've never ordered what he ordered except the dumplings. You'll see Wo hop and Hop Kee mentioned a lot, but they are not as good as Shanghai 21.
The best Chinese food I ever ate here in the UK, wash in China Town in London, but that was in the early 1980's. I watched your London video and the prawn toast, Mini ribs and crispy duck are normally starters in eat in restaurants. Incidentally the crispy duck is always quite dry as it's cooked by hanging it in a chimney over a flame.

General Tso chicken is an American invention, and pretty tasty it is, too. But, it's rare to find it in the UK, because it's American. We have our own inventions LOL.

Lol I tried London Chinese food and ours is better. I watched your London Chinese food video too!I tried Chinese food in Montreal and it's really good. I want to try it in Toronto.
Hi, yesterday in Javea,Spain...went to a Chinese supermarket, It was amazing. I love the dried chilli flakes and the Ramen. They had Thai foods, which I love. Your food looked incredible. In England we love sweet and sour sauce, especially on prawn balls or pork balls, with chips and curry sauce. Next time your in London, try mixing foods. Indian with Chinese or Fish and chips with a fried Mars bar. Off the planet for me is..... a 4 Cheese Pizza, with fruitcake. Bloody gorgeous mate, top draw. The fried dumplings aren’t crispy bc of the condensation from the heat basically “steamed” the dumplings causing them to be soggy. Fried food does travel well in general
*Waiting intently on the spring rolls, knowing those aren't typical egg rolls* WAIT A SEC HOW IS THERE SHRIMP IN A SPRING ROLL, this man just always gets blessed
Out of all the things u order from Shanghai 21 the most popular item is their pork crab meat soup dumplings and their water crest dumplings but the lo mein noodles are good, everything else u order is so so i wouldve traded the eggroll for scallion pancake.. pf chang is more fusion american but to each their own
Brilliant video! I’m British born Cantonese so relished in the “good stuff” here haha. Referencing the London video, yes, the typical uk westernised Chinese takeaway is addictive yummy “rubbish” if you know what I mean 😂. Love the American Chinese food from Panda 🐼 Express when in states 🇺🇸 though. Happy travels ♥️
Most of those single black trays with meat and veggies, plus rice typically go for $15 each across the board for American Chinese takeout. Now add a few more and some special items like "shrimp toast" and it adds up quick. A full meal for me with maybe some leftovers for later in the night costs me $30. It lasts way longer when you mix the rice with the half eaten entree
@@quicampbell8415 I'm in the west end, but I love Lime Viet (which is technically Thai/Vietnamese but has GREAT General Tso, sweet & sour) and King Asian (love their spicy peanut chicken and dumplings in peanut sauce, but everything I've ordered from them has been very good and they include lots of veggies).

One new thing we have in western Canada is "Indian style" Chinese food. I didn't even know that was a thing. Never tried it but I will stick to traditional.
I don't think it's the fairest comparison with the British takeaway you ate in that video. It's like comparing Dominos to a NYC Slice. You are in the heart of Chinatown, it serves the community the level of quality needs to be higher than a PF or Panda or they will not stay open for long. A better comparison to the British Takeaway you had would be a "King Wok", "Golden Forest", "Wa Lung Kitchen", "Fei Ma" "May May Kitchen"; the common denominator with all these places is few seats, pictures of foods above the counter and paper menus with the green and red text.
