Today is a big day! We get our first ever look at a completed HH44 catamaran.
We have gotten to know the boat through the building process, but we have never seen what she will really look like. You know, without tape, tools, and protective coverings all over everything.
Hull #1 has already been shipped out to France, and this is hull #2 which is about to be shipped out to her new owners in the USA. But before she gets loaded up, we get a full tour!
So, this is our first look at the finished interior, fully installed electronics and a demo of how the systems on this boat work.
Spoiler alert, she is even sexier and smarter than we expected.
    ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
WE’RE JASON AND NIKKI WYNN. A couple of modern-day documentarians, perpetual travelers, and seekers of tall tales.
We’ve been chasing our curiosity around the world on wheels and keels since 2011. Why? Because curiosity is the key to unlocking life. It pushes us outside our comfort zone, softens our assumptions, and helps us embrace the great unknown. The more we let our curiosity lead the way, the more we discover about ourselves and the world around us.
Our home is also our transportation and we spend weeks away from civilization and sometimes land. Self-reliance and living a sustainable lifestyle are a must. It's all about managing our resources and we’re always looking for new and better ways to do so.
We've lived off the grid for over 10 years now in everything from a Van to RV to a Sailboat. And over time we have learned a lot about renewable energy, creating safe drinking water, and managing our waste.
Our journey is ever-evolving but the mission remains the same: #CultivateCuriosity

1st Nikki is stunning in this black dress! Perfect for a commercial spot to highlight HH boats. 2nd The tour of the boat was great. Without trying to, I kept comparing this tour to the Seawind tour on Ruby Rose2. There are many differences but some are subtle. One thing I am excited about is the Beta - Electric setup and how it actually works in real life. I was looking carefully at the Antaries because they have done something like this a few years ago. Big Kudos on having Straight Drive vs Sail Drive. Seems so much safer in my observations. I still think there should be some Non-Electronic engine gages somewhere in case the power system gets bolted. And sometimes it is easier to just look at a temp gage, etc

  • @Mister_Vintage

The issue with the combined, single screen for control of all things electrical is that if you have a problem with that system....you lose all the electrical systems on the boat.
Even a software bug could disable everything. I am all about the convenience and comfortable living, but that seems a little scary. The good news is that the sails can still get you anywhere under almost any circumstances ;)
Question: on the sink, heads, showers, bilge....anything that moves water, do they have manual pump backups?

    • @RebelCowboysRVs
      @RebelCowboysRVs 8 месяцев назад +1

Yea, there's a saying about putting all your eggs in one basket. Seems odd to have the redundancy of sail, diesel and electric, but then cram all that other stuff on one computer.

I'm confused why the folding tables don't fold DOWN (like most tables with folding leaves) so you don't have to clear the table just to fold the leaves. Also you have the seams and a center hole to deal with. No large, flat surface. It looks like there may be table height controls underneath, but that just seems weird to me.

Its one of the biggest factors with sailing vessels especially multi hulls ....fast ones tend to have narrow hulls to be able to move quickly through the water so overloading causes the boat to sink in more ... displacement.
That means more drag... and in rough water you can bury the bows in to a wave or coming off
One.. it can at its worse stop a boat or result in tons of water hitting your decks..
The other thing is its easier to wipe this down free from mould sand salt and spillages.
The power systems on this boat gather energy from multiple sources and as most cats have twin motors and supporting systems for each hull duplication/redundancies are part of the advantages of Cats.

What a great episode. The tour was fantastic. All the digital switching will make things easier and....they have overrides in the event things get buggy. Your challenge will be to run the engines once a month just to keep them in good shape. :)

I will have to admit, between your build videos as well as Sketch to Sea channel I am thoroughly impressed with HH catamarans. It is a very interesting journey you have been on with the new builds. I am very impressed with the build quality from the one off 88 to the 44 footer. I am not seeing a fall off in quality. I love how they did the hiding the ropes, I was disappointed when you showed the area but I did not see anything to catch the excess line- boy was I surprised with that little section. Looking forward to you and Jason getting yours soon!

James looks like Jason's younger brother from another mother , a cousin from across the pond or Jason's doppelganger ( lol )
Really appreciate the engine room access where you don't have to be a contortionist.
Wonder if grab rails are needed on the roof sides for safety to grab onto or tie yourself with a safety line.

Beautiful boat. I am seeing lots of new RUclips boats right now and I really like some of the small details HH has put into their boats. Love the water capture system with a valve because dirt was the first thing I thought of when it first starts raining. And chain wash no less. WOW! Congrats, can't wait to see your new boat.

Great tour of the HH44. Going back one video, the salon outside sun screen suction cup solution will not hold up. Those suction cups will get brittle and in a blow it's low percentage that they will hold. Secondly, the salon window sun shading laying on the glass is of a concern. With eventual salt build up and buffeting from the wind, they will sandpaper the glass through time. We have the same sun shades on our FP Elba45 but they are kept completely off the glass to prevent damage to the glass. There are many cruiser posts about their glass being ruined from the abrasion from the salt in the sun shade material. Congrats on the HH and hope to see you guys at Annapolis?

Awesome! Your boat is going to be great. I know they are still working on this boat, and HH does things right and overbuilds components, but could not help noticing that both the galley and cockpit tables wobbled when you applied a little pressure to the table top. Surely that is going to be sorted out. Cheers!
