Bud, you are carrying the torch of tribal knowledge! If you ever run into a van in Oregon with a geometric wrap, I owe you a beer! Saved my butt. Thank you!
What you are describing is exactly what I am currently seeing. First thing in the morning, the car will hard start and try to stall out when I put it in gear. I have this part coming and I hope that this is the issue and not the fuel pump. I will update after I try this out.
@@ourfamilylifesolutions I was finally able to track down the correct part for this and it was as simple as you showed. I pulled my van up on the ramps and slid under and replaced the FPDM. It was funny because the shop that I initially took this into was telling me that there were bad pig tails on my fuel pump. I'm grateful that you shared this with us!
Yup, this just fixed my 2015 (only 38k on odometer!!!). Was running perfect all day. Last stop of the day, came back out from the store, was cranking strong (kinda shuddering trying to start). Then with each additional attempt no firing, just cranking. 30 min round trip to the ford dealership after finding this video and some posts online. $60 module. 5 minutes to switch out the module in the store parking lot (10mm socket and flat head driver). Now warm at home sitting on the toilet writing this. Gotta love the interweb
I can't believe I was able to find this video. Thank you so much! You have no idea how much I was able to save in costs and aggravation. My van was stuck in a parking lot over night and I was able to go, replace the part, and drive it back home. Again, thank you so much for taking the time to record and post the video in consideration for others. Stay well and safe.
Oh wow! Great to hear, thank you for sharing that! You are so welcome, and glad it was the exact issue also. Such a weird issue that can just happen immediately anywhere and anytime.
Currently having this issue. The thing is. I already replaced the module and the pump. Along with the relays and fuses in the box that are part of the fuel system. Yet nothing. Kinda lost here on where to go from now
I recently had similar issues but after the rain. Apparently water has been getting into the engine compartment via the engine hood and wiper washer rings, that then made my coil D go bad before it hit a check engine light. Had same type of shuttering at idle or low speeds and often loss of power when driving. Wasn't the cats though per my mechanics.
I’ve got a 2017 Ford transit customer van & got the same problem but I can’t find this part your talking about, any idea where it is on the 2017 model?
Like sold out or can't find online? Etc. Do you have a local Ford dealership that sells parts? If so, you can call them and ask for the part -- they should know. Ford also issued a promise to fix the parts now but I think getting it into the dealership to be fixed if the van is not running might be more expensive than the part fix itself.
@@waughy52 Ah, okay. I had made the 3rd video with light here: ruclips.net/video/v9M3roVVkq4/видео.html ... It is directly under the driver's seat attached to the frame (at least on my 2015)
Thank you for posting. I just had the same issue on my Ford transit 150 All my fuses and relays were OK Changed the control module and everything is running again Ps. I was really worried I had to replace fuel pump with full tank
Thanks for sharing this! I went through the same thing! Awful feeling, especially with the cost associated to each 'possible' issue. Glad you were able to resolve the issue!
I took to the dealership because it was a recall on this part and now it’s not cranking but it was before I took so I’m thinking either a bad part or dealership trying to get over
Yeah, they sent out a letter to all owners maybe last year or so. I'm glad you got it to the dealership in time. Sometimes it will show signs it is failing and sometimes it will just fail. The bummer about the dealership is one would have to tow, which if paying for tow, it would still be less expensive to replace the part on the spot. I hope they are able to fix yours and no more issues!
Can I please send you a video of how my ford transit 2.0 tdci sounds like and if this is the same problem as in your video, I showed the video to a mechanic and he told me that probably the timing belt is broken😥😥
This kind of fix, even if you just attempted it and it still was a different problem, probably is well worth it. The part $ is less than $100 or so and super simple. If that didn't work, then could be timing belt, etc. I'm not a mechanic, just a DIY trying to figure out life inexpensively ;)
I have come across relay, spark plug(s), fuel line/injector, etc. -- depends on the scenario, sounds, etc -- if possible, check with a local mechanic over the phone at least
@@Ein2404 I hear ya. I put all the details I know in the video descriptions for all 3 videos but I think it was about $60-70 for the 1 part and about 5-10 minutes to remove and install.
@@Ein2404 Also, beyond the part cost I shared yesterday, I think there is a recall/repair coverage on the part. However, it can take a week for a dealership to schedule the repair it seems and you need to get the dead van there, which is fine if one has free towing. If not, the part replacement might be less than the two, etc.
@@ourfamilylifesolutions I have the same issue and my van uses AA8A-9D412-CA part number, then the ford dealership sold me the same part number as the old one. Should it be an updated version of that one with a different part number?

Hey, thanks for asking/sharing! Relay and fuses were the first and mainly suggested parts to fix but wasn’t the issue. I noticed one said the fuel pump also along with battery, etc.
