I have recently had the same problem you need to remove the ecu get the serial number and order the exact same one with the ignition barrel and key all together from the same van then install everything then put the key in and leave in potion 2 without starting it leave it in position 2 for 5 minutes so that new ecu can recode itself to the diesel pump you must wait 5 minutes for this
Hi , I have a 2004 LDV Convoy minibus with the 2.4D ford Duratorque engine my van will start and run faultless but once I turn it off I get the glowplug light flashing and the van wont start , if I leave it 5 or 10 minutes and try to start it she starts straight up engine code p1631 saying PCM Main Relay but I cant find it on my convoy , any help would be appreciated thanks .

@@LewisKingham-bl7bo take your EDU off the pump and send it off for repair these pumps are notorious for the diods failing on the VP30 diesel pumps cost around £45 for the repair there are people on Ebay that repair them , no need for reprogramming if it's going back on the same van it's just plug and play just be careful when removing that you dont RIP the ribbon .
Got to be honest & have a rant.. had my 2.4 mk7 transit for 8yrs.. had the odd issue and usual wear and tear but this year its done my fooking box in!! ..costing me a fortune.. still ain't fooking right.. Will probably spend a few more hundred quid trying to sort it.. transits might be good work horses but they're money bleeders!! 😠😆
Hi.. the red light on the rve counter that comes on when u turned the ignition on that's flashing while at a standstill while engine is running is that a problem or not
@@luke123918 it's the red light just above the rev needle it's a 2005 2.4 t350 van with tailift he sent me a walkaround video and I noticed it was flashing think it sped up aswel he said it was door open indicater
@@iofakind1 it might want pluggin in just to see what fault code, what style keys is it a key fob with buttons to lock and unlock or the standard plastic style ford key?
I have the same issue on 2008 2.4 tdci ECM/EPC relay fault and if i take a lap with the car sometimes the immobiliser banned the starter and the car dont start. I remove (2 batteries) one + or - transmitter and take back then the car has no problem. Fuel system rebuild in shop but we cant teach with the computer cuz if we press in FoCom to teach the injector+pump w the computer the task is failed. Sorry my bad english.
hi i have a transit 2.4 rwd , 90/t350 .. now yesterday it just cut out at a junction and would not start again , been running mint for years with no issues , we have got fuel in the tank , fuel filter is full , and fuel up to the injectors , , plugged it in and it came up with code 1631 , has anyone else had this one before , i know it says relay for engine management system did you just change the relay or what , cheers
In all seriousness I think these vehicles are designed by FORD to maximise their profit (selling spare parts for unknown error codes) NOBODY seems to understand the error codes - ECU is a stupid or very clever system on these

So You shouldn’t be able to advance the pump timing to make it run, so the fuel system on the mk6 vans has a mechanical pump to build pressure just that the ecu controls how much pressure is going to each individual injector, so if u advance the timing to make it run that means that the mechanical side of the pump has failed aslong as the fault code for metering fuel pressure is the only dtc in the van. So I would say you require the fuel pump rebuilding or atleast testing the mechanical side of the pump at a diesel repair place the refurbs injectors and pumps
Iv'e been that busy iv'e not touched it in awhile tbh, but the last time i plugged it in, it had an earth fault on the pcm side and wouldnt crank, but the imo light wasnt flashing which could be classed as a plus point haha Kind Regards Luke

I have same problem, put new battery, reconditioned fuel pump code fault 1631 MCM relay. Did u find the problem?

Yeah that’s the imobiliser light, bad comms between fuel pump and imobiliser

I haven't touched the van tbh, but there is certainly a bad earth to the pcm relay or the earth circuit is bad on the pcm relay.
