As a New York native who has lived most of his life in Minnesota, I’m a huge fan of both teams and follow them closely. At a base level, I think this trade makes sense. The Knicks had a serious deficit at Center after Hartenstein signed with the Thunder. Also with Kat’s max contract kicking in, and all the draft picks traded away in the Gobert trade, the Wolves had zero flexibility for years to come. You could also argue that the Wolves maxed out their potential last year, and the competition in the league is only getting stronger. I hope I’m wrong, but ultimately I feel like this is a lose-lose trade. I think every single player involved will play worse on their new team, and will have a negative effect on the current team chemistry which has been a strength for both teams. I don’t think this is a good fit for anyone.
@@pbradics3670 That’s the point, they gave up too much. All this hype for the “Villanova Knicks” and we didn’t even get to witness one game of it. Mikal Bridges being added was already adding more of the type of depth they needed. That move in itself was a steal. The Knicks were building something good with that core. The right direction was adding onto that. But, a sudden decision to take away from it? For KAT? As if he’s really that much better than Randle and entirely makes up for what we lost in addition through DiVincenzo? Doesn’t make sense at all. Especially, when each player involved was so committed to their respective franchises. I probably hate it just as much for Minnesota. This is a weird trade, man
I think it's a good trade for both teams on paper, although only time will tell. Knicks absolutely needed a center, and got Towns who was being wasted as a power forward next to Gobert and is one of the most talented centers in the league. The only downside is they had to send Donte, Randle was easy to ship since they didn't need power forward anymore. Wolves absolutely have to extend Reid and Daniels so they needed cap space, and they got it by sending out KAT who is a center playing as a 4, and also they got back a more traditional power forward that is not that much worse than KAT (he is worse no doubt but not by so much) and more importantly Donte who is great plus a first round pick. I'd say this is a win for Wolves too.
@@joshieb.3190if Murray wasn’t in a conference with Luka and curry and had to fight Trae young and Zach Levine for all star spots are you still saying this?
Jamal Murray If you actually knew basketball you would know that. Just because he never won an all star doesn’t mean shit, there’s more all star caliber players in the NBA, than there are spots on the all star team. He averaged 28 PPG in the playoffs on amazing efficiency when they won the title and they wouldn’t have won if he didn’t
These comments wont age well and maybe mine wont either... but Big Bodega is gonna have a career turning arc this season at home in NY! Hes gonna have a huge fan base culturally and natively! I believe this will be good for the Knicks as itll take a huge weight off Jalen's shoulders.
As a life long NY Knicks fan, this trade has me, for lack of a better term, worried. I absolutely loved Dante DeVincenso's time here with us, and he became my 2nd favorite player during our playoff run. (Jalen Brunson being my #1 favorite). Losing him was a heart breaker for me, and I get that we do need Center depth, but I'm just not sold on KAT being that guy. I'd also probably look for some Center help in the upcoming draft, but who even knows when, who, or if we'll even be drafting in 2025. If this trade works out and we get even further in the playoffs than the last couple years, I'll be doing backflips, and I've never even done a backflip before. But if it doesn't work out, then I'll just be curled up in the corner, begging for DeVincenso back.
I heard other people saying it's about the new CBA. Nobody was going to give them anything more than that for Towns - and if Towns has more injury problems or declines... then they'd be stuck with that terrible contract. Under the new CBA, they'd waste Edwards' best years. But by getting rid of Towns (and getting rid of Randle next year if he doesn't work out), they'll have flexibility to adjust their roster. That's what I heard elsewhere, anyway. I don't know if that's true!
The only people that think the trade was bad for the Timberwolves don't watch Timberwolves basketball Anthony towns either shoots the three or drives the ball which he has a hard time doing he usually runs people over and gets an offensive foul he complains a lot and doesn't bring the winning attitude I wish kept the best that's my Guy but this is about the Timberwolves we got better on top of that we won the draft
The trade was about saving dollars as the Wolves would have had problems being in the 2nd Apron. This is a quick way to go under it while still having a good enough roster for this season.
As a Suns fan I love these Western teams such as the Clippers, Lakers, Wolves, and Warriors all taking a step back. We still gotta worry about the Mavericks, Nuggets, Thunder and possibly Memphis and/or Pelicans. The West is so deep but I think the Wolves are nuts for doing this deal. Slow ass Randle and Gobert I can’t wait to play that team.
System fit is a crazy thing in modern NBA. This is basically a trade involving big dogs in which both teams managed to get worse even on paper. Weird af.
I think the trade can be good for Minnesota. They needed a long term guard who can replace Conley (when he declines/retires) and they would have been severely limited if they get stuck in the second apron. To me, this feels like a bet on being competitive for the next 5 years and trying to max out the value they can get from Ant-Man's career All that being said, who tf knows if it will work. Their issues with the ownership transition has been a huge negative for an exciting team
As a Wolves fan.... "KAT absolutely locked in against Nikola Jokic"....this is true....then shot I believe 13% from 3 and 28% overall in the first 3 games against the Mavericks as they lost 3 close games... Welcome to the roller coaster New York...
They traded 2 Knicks who gave team friendly deals for a guy who held up Minnesota for 62 million when he is 35 , s player who Minnesota had to give up 3 or 4 first to get a center because Kat didn’t want to play center ! And Donte who took only 12.5 million to play with Brunson who set NBA record 240 catch and shoot 3s last year at over 40% Clip , as a Knicks fan i hate this trade
Check this: Knicks got to ECF WITHOUT Randle, easily could’ve beat my pacers if it wasn’t for injuries. MIN NEEDED KAT to get to the ECF. Brunson/Bridges/OG/KAT is gone be tuff.
9:07 okay, a couple of things if I'm going to be taking this seriously: The New York Knicks traded Donte and Randle to get KAT, a better offensive but much worse defensive player, if not just as bad as Julius. Minnesota still has Naz and are probably hoping he makes up production with more exposure (plus the whole money issue). In the end, New York got worse because the main team that they are going after will have KAT on the perimeter with everyone else. Minnesota got worse bc they added a worse offensive player and comparable defensive liability, while bringing in a guard who stated that his goal was to start (which only works if you bench Conley). The winners of this trade are the Celtics and the nuggets
@@chadd980 Allstar type is vague and puts Nuggets in the same category as the other teams with another Allstar, when Nuggets are the only team without another Allstar.
The Knicks were making fantastic moves for a championship. This is a step down. Their starting 5 might be better, but their depth has taken a serious hit. They already struggled with this and it's one of the most important parts of playoff basketball. The problem with comparing ANT to DMitch playing with Gobert is DMitch has an obviously big ego and would not pass to Gobert. He was the reason Utah didn't succeed. ANT is for sure a star, but you can see the difference in play. He actually passes to anyone as long as it's the right play. The Timberwolves also don't have to worry about losing a tiny bit of rim protection going from KAT to Randle. They have Gobert and Naz. KAT also isn't much of a rim protector. He's better than Randle in that regard, but not by a lot. I see this as a huge risk for the Knicks and probably a step back, but the other moves they've made will definitely help to mask it. Much less of a risk for Minnesota because they made their already deep team even deeper and hopefully Randle can be more consistent. Even if he's not more consistent, KAT was not the focal point of the team and they won't see a considerable step back from him. He's slow and clogs things up offensively if he's not posted on the three point line. He's a poor defender. This also gives Minnesota so much more financial flexibility for the future. People forget ANT is extremely young and they want to compete for many years. KAT's contract is terrible and would have hindered Minnesota in the next 5 offseasons. Minnesota wins this one.
The Wolves got better honestly. His foul trouble lack of really wanting to rebounding in crunch time hurt. Now having Donte instead of Kyle Anderson and at a minimum Randle easily replaces KATs numbers
NGL saying Randle is injury-prone is simply wrong. Guy didn't miss a game for 4-5 years in a row but had some unlucky injuries over the last couple of years. I think Julius is extremely reliable
I think the move here is to let Gobert go ham in the regular season like he always does, then in the playoffs have him anchor down the bench players. I mean when hes there they get torched anyway (im not dissing him at all, im js) so just have him clamp up the bench squad in the playoffs 🤷🏾♂️
As a wolves fan I’m stoked with this move. Kat is so soft man. Good luck trying to win a chip with someone like that. I think New York is gonna eat him up. Wolves are the huge winner of this trade just by getting rid of that terrible contract.
Wolves needed to cash out on KAT while they could. I called this trade about two months ago. Randle will opt out unless Wolves make a move. It's a season long interview. KAT is going downhill. His best years are behind him. Great move to dump that salary. Watch
Simple, wolves don’t think they can win now so they trade away one of the worst contracts in the league for post poning their window, while the knicks think they have their core ready and traded for KAT to go all in to potentially rival the Celtics
I feel like I’m the only one that thinks Randle was a great pickup for the wolves The reason the wolves lost last season is bc Ant was gassed. He was the only ball handler on that team that you could rely on to go get you a bucket. Randle is a pure bucket getter, he’s gonna give the the wolves the ability to rest Ant while he’s still on the floor and still attract all the defensive attention he does making it easier for Randle especially when the defense has to worry about the shooting of players like Conley, Naz, Donte, McDaniels, and Walker Defensively even though Randle isn’t a real rim protector the wolves still can out gobert in when they need him and without gobert they still have mcdaniels and naz who have shown the ability to lock up big men
Best value for KAT was 2 years ago. Been going down every year and will continue to for the rest of his 4 year year $224 million contract that kicks in this year. The new CBA made this happen, Kat will do just fine in New York. The entire premise of this video being that the Wolves should have held out or waited for a better deal is flawed. This was the best deal they were ever going to get.
personally if randle is off the bench being the main ball handler and facilitator they should be pretty good but it would also have to mean naz would have to start
From a Minneapolis perspective, Kat can be stellar, but he can seem to take games as serious as a Friday night PlayStation party. Whether it's fair or not, while he was out with injury that seemed to take forever to come back from he seemed like he was putting on a game day fashion show on the sidelines. I felt like he wasn't mature enough to count on every day. No doubt he's a great guy and good friend to Ant, but his game didn't always show up.
The nuggets won without having another all star that year. If you’re going by the fact they made all stars in the past then Dirk won with a HOF all star pg
The fact that you don’t mention the financial situation behind this move, which was the main driver is extremely disappointing. The next we’re gonna lose Randall next summer to free agency because he wasn’t gonna sign team friendly deal and the Timberwolves needed to shed long-term salary because of their ownership dispute that is coming ahead and arbitration this November Cat is also from the North Jersey New York area so it’s a much better situation than it was in Minnesota having family around him to give him the support since the passing of his mother. There is so many other variables that make this trade a win-win for both sides, the only team that got fleeced in this trade was the hornets
Losing Randle is no big deal. We earn cap space. But Randle probably would have returned if Knicks offered a fair contract. Losing Dante hurts. And Kat salary is insane. I don't see Randle being paid more than Pascal siakum got
this take will either age like win or milk, Julius Randle is criminally underrated and is playing his natural position of PF while KAT goes to a team that needs a center and space and is going to play him where he belongs. Plus Divencenzo is a dog and the Wolves have 4 perimeter players that are all beasts in Ant, NAW, McDaniels, and Divencenzo. KAT was decent in this post season but not enough to warrant the cap hit it would take to keep him and lose Naz Reid next season.
Unfortunately, the consequences of the Gobert trade + the new cap rules are huge. Towns’ contract necessitated a trade even if it hurts the Wolves because it saves their cap a little. Sucks, but that happens. Where I have an issue is the organization giving him zero notice before trading him. He didn’t demand a trade, he quit his whining, he flexed to the 4 cause it was best for the team, and he played second fiddle to Ant’s top dog. Not many top tier players are willing or capable of doing that. Plus he’s been great for the community. It’s a shame it happened, and it is a business, but it would have looked slightly better if the T-Wolves clued KAT in on the talks. Though if the trade failed to go through, I guess they could have had a reverse Damian Lillard situation…

I bet the Blazers are willing to part with Anfernee Simons to make room for Shaedon Sharpe and Scoot Henderson.
Jeremy Grant also probably enjoys his $ but not the Blazers and could be traded in more of a 1 for 1 deal instead of 1 for multiple deal.
Portland is the lowest of those 3 teams in terms of cap space at 14th
Nets are 16th
Wizards are 27th
All need rebuilding pieces (Picks not Randle, but Randle helps them get closer to being under the cap after his contract expires and none of these teams are competing rn anyways so why be over the cap?)
I understand the Gobert Trade has sent out most of the Twolves 1st Round Picks, but they can still Swap their 1st Rounder in 2028 and toss in the Pistons Pick (Top 13 Protected) they just received in the Randle Trade.
@@gabrielmayorga6341 Yeah he called me and told me that he enjoys keeping his job.
But, as the Twolves are the most expensive team in league currently, I suppose that they could keep Randle for the year, and then let him walk to reduce their massive team salary and be much closer to under the cap compared to where they are now.
I think that is actually what might piss Antman off.
Donte fits Minnesota perfectly. Randle can be traded for another all star or maybe 2 role players on the other hand.

Knicks definitely won this trade, KAT is playing like an MVP
KAT that ninja
I like the wolves with Randle and Gobert! Don't sleep on Randle. He is a bucket! He's tenacious and a decent defender. WOLVES get a first round pick as well. Wolves got better
After the first preseason! Watching Donte I am laughing lol 😂
As a Wolves fan, it hurts to see KAT leave it’s like I grew up with him ever since he was drafted. He was solid 3pt shooter for us and him leaving can affect our 3pt offense. Though, Ant can get more touches now and the bench is even better now which why I think we won the trade.
Yea but he didn't care about winning and it hurt us for years
Imagine when it was KG it was more sad.
@@mattgowrie8580 I agree! Now the Wolves are gonna play like actual “wolves” can’t wait to see the grit and grind game style next season with Conley being one of the OGs of that system
Your front court is Randle and Gobert, you lost the trade.
The spacing is terrible, expect Ant to receive more doubles.
@@SaySpawn I would prefer Naz Reid as a starter with Gobert that would fix this problem
Ruined the timberwolves?.. isn’t that what everyone was saying when we traded for Rudy?
Randle and Gobert have 0 chance of working together, good luck to Anthony Edwards
randle and naz reid tho…
The bench is what’s gonna shine in this team 💯
I would be tempted to start Reid and let Randle be essentially the 3rd big.
There’s a good chance they’re just gonna flip Randle
@@jaydenrossi2094like they’d bench the dpoy for the Reid
As a Knicks fan, I hate this trade -_-
@@pbradics3670 That’s the point, they gave up too much. This is a weird trade, man
It’s not KAT for Randle, it’s KAT for Randle AND divincinzo, a championship caliber role player
Only reason knicks entertained it was bc they knew he was getting better too fast for the knicks salary to handle
i forgot this channel existed lol
Saying KAT is a Superstar is crazy🤣🤣
This was a win win for both teams. The season will determine who was the winner of this trade.
Plus they have a better bench then last year

i guess Murray?? Not even an all-star but a playoff anomaly
@@joshieb.3190if Murray wasn’t in a conference with Luka and curry and had to fight Trae young and Zach Levine for all star spots are you still saying this?
he’s not consistent. he’s usually great in the playoffs but very on/off otherwise.
Sounds like your living in the past and have no idea it’s a business
Jamal Murray
If you actually knew basketball you would know that. Just because he never won an all star doesn’t mean shit, there’s more all star caliber players in the NBA, than there are spots on the all star team. He averaged 28 PPG in the playoffs on amazing efficiency when they won the title and they wouldn’t have won if he didn’t
This dude buggin. Knicks lost too much in this trade
J. Randle is 20 and 10 guy
Kat is 3point contest winner that you CANT go to in the 4th quarter. And wont ever average 12 rebounds..😅😂
These comments wont age well and maybe mine wont either... but Big Bodega is gonna have a career turning arc this season at home in NY! Hes gonna have a huge fan base culturally and natively! I believe this will be good for the Knicks as itll take a huge weight off Jalen's shoulders.
Knicks need scoring efficiency and 5, while the T-Wolves can use the play making and Divencienzo’s shooting. I will withhold judgment.

My favorite RUclips ever for real bro watch your RUclips channel since 2016
Prime Mike Korzemba was amazing
The knicks dont believe in power of friendship and will pay for it lol
Randle and Dante weren't ever going to move the needle whereas KAT most definitely could.😊

Have y'all noticed when Kat breaks into a zesty voice? I think that's low-key his real voice 😅
It’s not low key. he was raised around women,if you look up his background..He fully zesty
The trade was about saving dollars as the Wolves would have had problems being in the 2nd Apron. This is a quick way to go under it while still having a good enough roster for this season.
Were not expecting Kat to save us, just to take pressure off Brunson cause clearly he ran out of gas. Julius had his time, farewell
Weird af.
Bro with 2k25s eras and all. Bring back the WHAT IF simulations
Lol 😂 well in my opinion the minnesota timberwolves will be a fine I think they got deeper 7 players could be starters
I think the trade can be good for Minnesota. They needed a long term guard who can replace Conley (when he declines/retires) and they would have been severely limited if they get stuck in the second apron. To me, this feels like a bet on being competitive for the next 5 years and trying to max out the value they can get from Ant-Man's career
All that being said, who tf knows if it will work. Their issues with the ownership transition has been a huge negative for an exciting team
I understand the questions, but I think it's an upgrade for both. Randle gives more fight. Kat with the other center.
As a Wolves fan.... "KAT absolutely locked in against Nikola Jokic"....this is true....then shot I believe 13% from 3 and 28% overall in the first 3 games against the Mavericks as they lost 3 close games... Welcome to the roller coaster New York...
Jamal Murray has never made an all star game
They traded 2 Knicks who gave team friendly deals for a guy who held up Minnesota for 62 million when he is 35 , s player who Minnesota had to give up 3 or 4 first to get a center because Kat didn’t want to play center ! And Donte who took only 12.5 million to play with Brunson who set NBA record 240 catch and shoot 3s last year at over 40% Clip , as a Knicks fan i hate this trade
Haven't been here since "Steph Curry with a 40 inch vertical"

I want to like this trade, but Kat's mentality worries me.
So did AD’s until he got slotted behind lebron now he’s top 75
9:07 okay, a couple of things if I'm going to be taking this seriously:
The New York Knicks traded Donte and Randle to get KAT, a better offensive but much worse defensive player, if not just as bad as Julius.
2:30 Mike forgot about the 2023 Nuggets
That’s why he said all star TYPE . He’s including Murray as that
@@chadd980 Allstar type is vague and puts Nuggets in the same category as the other teams with another Allstar, when Nuggets are the only team without another Allstar.
@@blue-phoenix115 I’m not arguing against it. Just saying I don’t think he forgot about em since he used that wording
Tf you been at Mike 😂😂
The Wolves got better honestly. His foul trouble lack of really wanting to rebounding in crunch time hurt. Now having Donte instead of Kyle Anderson and at a minimum Randle easily replaces KATs numbers
NGL saying Randle is injury-prone is simply wrong. Guy didn't miss a game for 4-5 years in a row but had some unlucky injuries over the last couple of years. I think Julius is extremely reliable
DD will be a huge factor for Twolves off the bench i think this is a W for Wolves cos DD he is proven in the playoffs...
They know they can’t re-sign ANTMAN…they miss being in the nba draft lottery.
Kat is a bigger version of Tobias Harris 😅😅😅😂😂
I think the move here is to let Gobert go ham in the regular season like he always does, then in the playoffs have him anchor down the bench players. I mean when hes there they get torched anyway (im not dissing him at all, im js) so just have him clamp up the bench squad in the playoffs 🤷🏾♂️
As a wolves fan I’m stoked with this move. Kat is so soft man. Good luck trying to win a chip with someone like that. I think New York is gonna eat him up. Wolves are the huge winner of this trade just by getting rid of that terrible contract.
J. Randle is 20 and 10 guy
Kat is 3point contest winner that you CANT go to in the 4th quarter. And wont ever average 12 rebounds..😅😂
That’s KATs issue he shoots too much and settles and doesn’t offer much on defense

A third of this video is an ad what happened to this channel bro smh
Wolves needed to cash out on KAT while they could. I called this trade about two months ago. Randle will opt out unless Wolves make a move. It's a season long interview. KAT is going downhill. His best years are behind him. Great move to dump that salary. Watch
Q: Who will Luka be able to guard ?
A: No one.
The knick risk wouldve been watching a randall that didnt sign his extension come back and walk at the end of the year..
Bro either slowing his vids to get more time in... or he was high asf making this vid😂😂😂 1.5 speed more like it>>>
Simple, wolves don’t think they can win now so they trade away one of the worst contracts in the league for post poning their window, while the knicks think they have their core ready and traded for KAT to go all in to potentially rival the Celtics
I feel like I’m the only one that thinks Randle was a great pickup for the wolves
The reason the wolves lost last season is bc Ant was gassed. He was the only ball handler on that team that you could rely on to go get you a bucket. Randle is a pure bucket getter, he’s gonna give the the wolves the ability to rest Ant while he’s still on the floor and still attract all the defensive attention he does making it easier for Randle especially when the defense has to worry about the shooting of players like Conley, Naz, Donte, McDaniels, and Walker
Defensively even though Randle isn’t a real rim protector the wolves still can out gobert in when they need him and without gobert they still have mcdaniels and naz who have shown the ability to lock up big men
Could have gotten more future 1st round draft picks for KAT. There are probably some teams who are willing to give this Minnesota for KAT.
This was the best deal they were ever going to get.
you're not wrong bro, everything you said i'm sure Ant is thinkin. he gone get tf outta there !
personally if randle is off the bench being the main ball handler and facilitator they should be pretty good but it would also have to mean naz would have to start
Wolves fan here- TY NY! 🎉
This trade made my Knicks the best starting 5 in the East
I’m tryna tell them but people don’t believe it lmao 😂
Keep dreaming broh
The nuggets won without having another all star that year. If you’re going by the fact they made all stars in the past then Dirk won with a HOF all star pg
Kat overrated AF never reached full potential
Should have just spent a bit more to keep Hartenstein ... 😂
2:38 did he already forget about the Denver Nuggets? They only had one All-Star. Murray is arguably All-Star talent, but he's never been an All-Star
Kat is a NY Knick period. Show him some love.
Y’all got to understand, Donte wasn’t happy with new role despite being with college teammates
He says those were false
this take will either age like win or milk, Julius Randle is criminally underrated and is playing his natural position of PF while KAT goes to a team that needs a center and space and is going to play him where he belongs.
Slightly unrelated but I still can't believe how awful the Gobert trade was. I still don't understand what the hell Minnesota was thinking.
I'm not sure how good the defense will be but the Knicks offense will be un to watch. I'll be sure to tune into all the games against my Mavericks.
