My favorite Angels Of Light is “How I Loved You”. Emotionally brutal

Incredible record, I plan to talk about it here on the channel some day! The tours surrounding "How I Loved You" were also insanely good!

I'm a huge fan of the softer side of Swans though I appreciate the Wagnerian drama of the nineties stuff as well. World of Skin, Burning World, White Light, Love of Life, Great Annihilator and some of Soundtracks for the Blind are my faves and honestly it's some of the greatest music ever recorded. Esp when measured on the merits of artistic impact and the music's ability to move me. This album (New Mother) has three or for great tracks, Praise, Forever Yours, I'd really forgotten about "Song for my Father' yeah that's great. Michael is so great.
Unfortunately as he's progressed from this album he's done very little that moves me at all which is sad cause the stuff I love, I love so much and still listen too. He's just making long, ugly music now. My personal theory is that because Swans got famous early as a noise band and the world mostly ignored the magnificent albums I've listed above, I reckon he said 'eff it, I don't have to make melodic music anymore". I don't know, I've mates who love the oldest stuff and what he's doing now but for me, it's just wasted potential, harsh as that sounds. Cheers for this video and I dug your Wire vid. I'm a fan of some of that, having had a mate really into them.. Cheers for this though and I dig your take on stuff🙂🙂

Thanks for taking the time to comment! I agree with you, I have a tendency to really enjoy Michael's melodic layered work.
